Holy Smokes-Pulled Threads

In general set aside your frustration and trust that they know what they are doing. This isnt the place to express to the mods your feelings. Just accept their word and hope it unfolds as it should. Its not personal, its what they do to run this big place smoothly. and i think it will take some time. breathe :blowkiss:

Christine, would it be okay to let us know later when this is all sorted out , what is wrong with the thread.....
TIA

Thank you..and of course. I still don't know what's going on. Trying to get it sorted.

Sheesh. This is taking more of my time to explain here, let us get to work. :D

And my 2 cents.
If we were posting on the "sanctioned" thread for those who think Caylee might be alive would we be better tolerated?
. Granted that the thread was not named well as far as the content being discussed, however the thread was about website names/my space. So yes some of the posts were off topic. When a general view (for example, Caylee is alive or deceased) is kept in context of the thread, all views are allowed, but when the post totally veers from the thread topic (for example the post does not mention or does not relate to the thread topic) then that is a problem. Its like highjacking a thread that was to discuss one thing and making it about another topic. Hope this is clear.

Also, I mentioned before that this information was started and covered a great deal in another thread, if mods have to do a search so that all of these threads can be merged, then this also will take time.

I can guarantee that no one should preceive that they are being discrimated againt by the mods here for their views.

I have been on this board for years, don't post much. These Mods are the best, it is their board and we are guest, so to me whatever they do and have their rules is fine with me. They don't discriminate.. so don't pout.

This case has got all of us fuming :furious:and our fingers do the walking in the wrong way sometimes,

so like Poco said be patient..and the posters that do have big numbers know the rules, they can be your mentor if you listen.

I Thank all the MOds for having the patience.:woohoo:

Outstanding post! I'd hate to see this place turn into a topix like atmosphere after all of the years this place has worked hard to stand apart from other forums, that's just me and my over-protectiveness talking!

I've been around for a while too and I can tell you we have some of the BEST people working to keep WS respectful, fair, fun, and a step above the rest. I don't think some of the newer members understand how much goes on 'behind the scenes'. Our mods and admin work very hard to maintain these boards. No one is ever targeted or picked on by the mods. Plus everyone HAS to realize there are HUGE numbers on Caylee's forum. We have near 1000 people viewing at any given time. It's alot to keep track of folks.
Thanks mods!!!

Totally agree Pocono, this forum is a wonderful place to discuss your opinions, and an invaluable resource for finding links to whatever story you're interested in.
The mods have a tough, time consuming job and I appreciate their time and dedication.
I have been a member here for a long time too, I dont post often, but am a faithful reader and enjoy seeing different points of view. Although I have never seen such venom here like I have here on Caylee's forum, and things used to get pretty heated back in the days of Scott Peterson.
Thank you Tricia, and to all the mods. I love websleuths, and hope I havent ticked anyone off with my little opinions, lol....

PRAY FOR CAYLEE!!

"Fair" doesn't enter into it.

When I was involved with the Scott Peterson case there was a poster that went from board to board with bizarre theories about how various people "connected" through phone numbers, zip codes, street addresses, etc. and would post reams of information from phone books and other public records on the forums. There were a couple instances where other people who saw this sort of "research" as valuable actually called some of the phone numbers she had posted, harassing people with no connection whatsoever to Scott's crime. When she was kicked off a board for doing this she accused the mods of being part of a vast conspiracy and started to harass them in the same way. We just don't need that sort of crazy here.

(respectfully snipped, if I did it correctly)
Ah Adnoid I remember it well, and THANK YOU for being a mod and helping to keep us in line......

Yep. Don't think I'll ever go to Denmark after that!

And the great thing is we don't generally have to keep people in line here, we just choose to admit good people and they keep themselves in line because that's what good people do!

LOL!
There is something rotten in Denmark!

You're right, the members here are generally good people, and though we all have our opinions, everyone mostly respects each other's differences.
I love websleuths--though my family might say a bit too much, hahaha.

I have a couple questions about the forum...

Can the mods set the Caylee Anthony forum up so that they have to approve any new threads that people try to start?

Is there a way to set a thread up so that only a select few can post to it? For example, Can the daily updates threads be set so that only certain members can post updates, thus eliminating some of the clean-up work on those threads?

ETA: Would blocking photos help lessen the chances of a server crash?

Yep. We can also try to get a drink of water out of a fire hose, with similar results.
This one just made me laugh, the visual is priceless.

I was on another board when Scot Peterson happened and it wasn't pretty.

Yep. But that's not how we do things here. Better to have a good group of posters and let them use their brains. 1,000+ brains working > 6 brains controlling. If we have 10 or so posters that just can't figure things out it's better to restrict the 10 than restrict the 1,000. Better for WS and better for them as well.

We appreciate suggestions, really, we do. But we do things a little differently here. Many message boards are run with a parent/child ethos, with the staff being parents who control and discipline posters who would otherwise act like unruly children. Here at WS we run with an adult/adult ethos, where the staff is here to assist, support and guide instead of control. We consider us to all sit at a (now very large) round table. You never know where the next great thought will come from. We can do the "me mod, you not", but it's a last resort.

Not everyone can deal with the WS type setup. Some people do very well here, some do not. I can tell you that I was traveling last week and I would occasionally check in on the forum on my iPhone and see 1,000+ people on line and I was the only staff member - and from my phone there's little I could do. And it didn't worry me one bit.

The drinking from a fire hose analogy cracked me up. Thanks for answering my questions. :blowkiss:
