Uncle Poodle, Anna and Anna's grandmother were all very credible and honest on Dr Phil today. Anna is truly hurt by the betrayal of her mother. She told about when she was a child, after the pedo was arrested how her mother called and told Anna that she hated her and blamed Anna for putting McD in jail and that June loved McD (obviously MORE than she loved Anna) and that Anna had screwed that up for June. (I'm paraphrasing all of that, those are not the exact words).
June clearly sees herself as the victim in this. It was all about her and how it affected her, not how it affected Anna. She simply does not give a dang how Anna was affected. I think she honestly resents Anna and blames Anna for McD going to jail and breaking up June and McD. It is all so bizarre and unnatural for a mother to behave that way.
Anna talked about whether her mother believes that she was molested. I am sure June knows it happened but she simply does NOT care. She blames Anna for it. She does not want to acknowledge that her daughter is hurting and was done wrong. She obviously resents Anna. She only recently said that she believed it and that was because she was slammed in the media for her behavior and her betrayal of her daughter. It is like a sociopath trying to mimic the behavior/emotions they they have learned that they should display, there is no sincerity, no real emotion, it is all a self serving act.
Thank Goodness Anna has her grandmother to stand by her and validate her support her. It can be so hard for a sexually abused child to understand what they did to deserve that and then to have their own mother reject them and blame them is unbelievable.
Yes, I am fired up about this. It hurts to hear how Anna was abused by that sicko and how that abuse still affected her in her relationship with her husband when it came to physical intimacy. Sexual abuse leave lifelong scars and damage. There can be healing but there are changes that can never be erased.
Anna was very brave to come forward and reveal herself as the victim of McD. Because of her age, her name would not have been part of public record but she came forward because she felt so strongly about McD and what her mother was doing. It takes a lot of courage to reveal such things about yourself for all the world to know.
I'm just so disgusted by June. She should have been there to protect and believe in her daughter. She should have been there to help her heal, NOT to rub salt in her wounds and parade herself around with the pervert who hurt Anna.
Oh, he**. I'm gonna go sit on my hands before I end up getting sent to band camp over this.
