I think Thursday morning, May 9, we will get their verdict. I count that as about three days (plus the 50 mins. Friday).

Three days seems reasonable.

Wow what is the reasoning alternate jurors?

This case started out with a panel of 18 jurors, 6 of whom would be alternates. Three jurors were dismissed along the way for a variety of reasons. The trial has lasted a little over 4 months, and the jury still has the sentencing phase of the case to hear if Jodi is found guilty. It makes sense to have alternate or back-up jurors when a trial is expected to last several months as this one did.

Took these verdict times from the HLN site.

Casey Anthony, 10 hours, 40 mins., acquitted
Jerry Sandusky, 20 hours over 2 days, guilty 45 of 48 counts
Drew Peterson, 14 hours, guilty
Conrad Murray, 09 hours, guilty involuntary manslaugter
O. J. Simpson, less than 4 hours, acquitted on 2 counts
Phil Spector, 30 hours, guilty of second-degree murder
Robert Blake, 35 hours over 9 days, acquitted
Scott Peterson, 7 days, convicted of first and second-degree murder
Menendez Brothers, 4 days, convicted of 2 counts first-degree murder
Steven Hayes, 4 hours, convicted of capital* murder of three people

*punishable by death

Hard to tell as the examples run from one long day to seven days. Except look at O. J. and SH, both four hours, with drastically different results.

I can't imagine that JA will be acquitted but then I never imagined O. J. could be either. The difference is, JA admits she killed TA. It may take longer for these twelve jurors to come to an agreement. I don't believe they'll all agree on first-degree but believe they'll decide on second-degree which takes the DP off the table. The verdict will be somewhere in the middle and take longer than four hours to decide - probably two days or until Wednesday. The wait will be agonizing.

I tend to agree with you. The Jury will deliberate for at least 2-days. I will be shocked if JA is acquitted. Won't be at all surprised if the Jury returns with a verdict of second-degree. ~IMO~

I believe the jury already deliberated for a few hours on Friday.

The jury got the case at 3:39 on Friday afternoon. They left the courthouse and were finished for the day at 4:30, so they had only about 50 minutes to deliberate.

You can tell by the jury questions and the court observers observations that they are attentive, that they are not the Pinellas 12. The Pinellas 12 were people who had no interest in current events, especially the stupid woman who "refused to judge". It makes me so mad that she was ever allowed on a jury, because jurors are supposed to judge. Being judgmental is not a bad word. We do it everyday. Juan and Beth Karas are confident of a guilty verdict by Mon., and that's all we need for now, a Death Sentence wouldn't be out of the realm soon after that.
And we can rejoice in that there will be no more trashing of Travis and hearing that awful sex tape ever again.

The fact that they had the opportunity to ask questions and the astuteness displayed by this jury is one of the reasons that they will not have to deliberate for hours and hours in order to reach a verdict. Many of their questions have already been asked and answered, so it shouldn't be necessary to go over every minute detail of the case during their deliberations. :moo:

So most likely they picked a foreman and set the schedule, Do you think it's likely they took the time to take a vote?

It could all be guilty but different counts will be what slows them down.

Unless they have a juror holding out I think they will reach a verdict tomorrow. They paid attention, they took notes and they already asked questions.

i'd like to speculate on who that juror would be. i bet it will be one of the older ladies. and it will be due to the sex tape.

Hi WS Friends,

Just a reminder that many of us on WS are displaying a blue ribbon Justice for Travis avatar during Verdict Watch.

Hopefully on verdict day, our WS pages will show a sea of blue ribbons to demonstrate WS solidarity for Travis and family.

Murder in the First for JA
Justice for Travis and family.

Peace,
Chelly

If all the jurors vote for first-degree murder, each does not necessarily have to vote for premeditation. Some of them can vote for premeditated murder and the others for felony murder. I can't believe that some of the jurors who firmly believe it was premeditated would let Jodi get by with second-degree murder or manslaughter. I would hold out even if I caused a hung jury. I can see a couple jurors who might question why she didn't kill Travis as soon as she got there trying to hold out against murder in the first degree. After the CA verdict, I am so afraid that Travis might not get the justice he deserves.

My guess is 2-4 days. I believe she will be found guilty of 1st degree murder, but I imagine this jury hashing things out.

I can't figure out how on my iPad or iPhone.

Linda, scroll down this page or one of the previous pages and find a picture of a Travis ribbon. I don't think you can copy someone's avatar, but I have seen several pictures of ribbons that some people have placed on this thread for us to copy. I touched the ribbon I wanted with my finger and hit "COPY," and it copied the picture under PHOTOS on the home screen of my iPad.

I then went to the top right of this page and clicked on "Private Messages." (Near your name) When that page comes up, look at the left-hand side and scroll down to "Edit Avatar." Click on that. I scrolled down and chose "Custom Avatar." I chose Option 2. I think I went back to Photos on the iPad home page and clicked on that photo. The photo then was under "My Avatar" or "My Current Avatar." Then I had to hit "Save Changes," or something like that.

I voted 2 days. They may need some time to vent and talk over some things. I do hope it is sooner though!

I agree. As much as I'd love to see a fast verdict, I believe this is a responsible jury that does not take its charge lightly. This is a death penalty case. Jurors will want to examine the evidence and discuss it. Two days deliberation demonstrates the jury has been thoughtful and responsible. If deliberations go into three days and longer, I will be really, really concerned.

I think they will convict her of first degree murder very quickly, probably tomorrow.

I predict that if they do, they will take much longer determining life or death after the mitigation phase. Mainly because that would be the hardest decision of their entire lives and women aren't given the DP very often.

I think reaching the verdict will be quick.

If I were a juror ... I'd want some time to process the experience with my fellow jurors. Rehash some of the OMG Jodi's 9mm camping story, can you believe she said? Like stating she was single with a shoulder shrug when asked about dry humping a man before Travis's body was even cold...He said? Juan said, what were you planning to do? throw the gun at him! ....some highlights like, " cosmetic approach to pelvic region"
