Hulk Hogan's son seriously injured another boy in car wreck

I'm the complete opposite. My kids have to wear their seatbealts - as do other minors who ride with me - but adults are on their own when it comes to that.

I think Nick looks like a bozo in all of this, but I don't think for one second that it was Nick's responsibility that John wear a seatbelt.
Be careful SCM! Those very passengers will sue you for letting them ride without a belt in the event of a crash. I have seen it happen so many times.Besides their projectile bodies could put you or other passengers in danger.

I make my passengers buckle up also. Because the ones that don't buckle up are the ones that will sue me when we crash and they are injured because i drove them while they weren't wearing a seatbelt.I have seen it happen.
I'm the captain, don't like it, catch the next bus.:p

Yeah exactly!! My lawyer wants me to sue the girl whose car i was in during the accident since she didnt make me wear my seatbelt & said i could make alot of money...but im not going to because shes my best friend!!!! But it can happen.

You got it. It is not unusual for people to sue for this. It is maddening but true.

I think you would change your mind about that if you were involved in an accident and your adult friend passenger wasnt wearing there seatbelt and they died.

I don't, but I'm used to that response when people disagree with my stances on things.

I'm a huge seatbelt fan and have been since I was about ten - I wore them before it was cool, commonplace or illegal not too. That said, my Mom hates the things and won't wear them. I know other people who feel the same way. I'm totally okay with that - just like I'm totally okay with people who don't wear helmets while riding motorcycles. It's not my choice, but I respect their choices and assume they've put some thought into it.

If an adult in my car dies because they chose not to wear a seatbelt, I will cry at their funeral and wish them love and luck as they continue their journey, but I won't feel guilty about the choice they made.

If someone wants to sue me for that, have at it. The government may want to be the seatbelt police, but I don't.

I hear you, JBean, but I'm at peace with my decision! It's a ludicrous law, so call it my consciencious objection - LOL! I'll take my chances. If other passengers in my vehicle are frightened of the potential projectile body of the one who won't wear a seatbelt, they can take it up with that person.

I don't question your decisions. We are all just one lawsuit away from losing our homes so my motivation is purely selfish.:)

ETA: We have helmet law here too. I support that as well.

I know you had my best interests at heart - wasn't meaning to be snippy with you. :) I just hate these types of laws on so many levels!

The seatbelts thing being the driver's responsibility is not a law here in GA (though, given the times, I am sure it is on its way), but I am pretty sure we have a helmet law for motorcycles.

Good for you. Buckling up is your responsibility, even if you were a passenger in someone else's car. Yes, she should've reminded you, but it's not only her fault you weren't wearing a seatbelt.

I didn't think you were being snippy. I would have really let you have it if I thought you were. hahaha j/k
But laws like this don't bother me at all.

The whole seatbelt law is ridiculous in my opinion. What will the next law be? What about our personal choice? And then you have attorneys wanting you to sue another person because they didn't make you wear a seatbelt? Good grief...these attorneys will do anything to pad their own pockets. Why don't we have seatbelts for children on school buses? Makes no sense...
It's safer and smarter to wear a seatbelt. But, more importantly, it's safer and smarter for us to keep our freedom to decide for ourselves.

I had a family member who had her ribs crushed and had a serious head injury despite wearing a seatbelt because her passenger did not wear one and became a projectile and was launched into her. That passenger also died and they sued due to failure to yield. But in the end, everyone's injuries were worse as a result. Plus the guilt of not asking them to buckle up doesn't go away.

So sad. I have heard of similar circumstances. I think everyone should buckle up, if not for their own safety, for everyone around them.

The Boleas were o 11PM News tonight. They claim Nick was not speeding during the crash, said he was only going 30 plus repeated the fact that John didnt wear his seatbelt....seatbelt saved their sons life bla bla bla
They claim they had their own investigators at crash scene....the Clearwater Police said he was going over 60mpg, the spin to make their kid look like little angel has begun. Oh ya, Nick was going 80MPH and was pulled over just 16 days before accident! I bet they are sorry they didnt yank the keys from this kid. looks like there will be a lawsuit, both parents of John have attorneys now.
Its hard to believe he was going only 30MPH when this crash happened.

30 mph my butt. :slap:
Did the Boleas forget that the day after the accident a cop told a reporter that he was behind Nick and saw the entire accident? It wasn't just the cop who said Nick was speeding/racing either....there was at least one other witness.
