I often think about james barnes and his dog, murphy, wondering what happened.

I'm guessing they suffered the same fate as amanda richmond rogers and her beloved dog, groot.
Groot fell into an icy river in alaska and amanda went straight in to try and save him, neither survived. So tragic.
It has been reported that months later, amanda's body was found, still holding onto groot, bless them both x

I'm hoping, one day, james and murphy will be found.

James' dog Murphy was found in December weeks after the two went missing. He was in bad shape and took time to identify but he was identified as the missing man's dog. I feel if James had still been alive, Murphy would not have left his side. So sad there's been no new information for his family. From post #19 -- The dog turned out to not be Murphy.

The emaciated golden retriever found during the search for Jim Barnes is not the missing B.C. man’s dog, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

The discovery of a similar-looking dog wandering near Fort St. John last fall – approximately 120 kilometres from Barnes' pickup – briefly promised a potential lead about the missing man’s whereabouts, but DNA testing has since proven the golden retriever is not Murphy.
