Hurricane Irma - #2

First, I want to say I have had very little sleep lol. I clicked on Riviera Beach and was watching the water and I wasn't sure if it was wood floating or 2 legs... the wood had pieces on them so it looked like feet and it also looked like a possible body just below the surface. Then, you could see all these fish sort of jump and sometimes like they were biting/eating at something.

I looked to see again what cam view this was... who would I call and what would I even tell them and I wanted you guys to look at it for me, too. Well it switches the manatee cam when you click that view  I think that is wood floating in there tho.

LOL. I needed a good laugh.

In southwest Georgia where we are its been raining steadily since around 6:30 this morning and the wind is picking up. We still have power but we believe we will lose power in our area. We also have two children (daughter and our only son) and their families who lives in the same county as we do. We have made sure everyone all have enough supplies to last for at least 4-5 days. My hubby went out and delivered a generator to each of their homes yesterday.

This morning my hubby received a call from work at 4:30 am and they asked him would he be willing to deliver more medical gases somewhere near the Tallahassee area I think and so he is on the road again. So again we wait for him to return. I hope and pray they cut it off today because by Monday it could be much worse in our area or in the area of whatever Florida destination who may badly be in need of medical supplies.

Once this has passed though and it becomes an assistance needed mode I expect he will make several of these kind of emergency deliveries in the coming weeks along with all of the companies semi-truck drivers. Since he is the Safety and Training Officer he is required to have a current CDL at all times. Its times like this it comes in handy and he is very happy to help anyone in need.

Still continuing to pray for everyone who may be in the path of Irma. Thinking about all of you and praying for the best outcome for everyone involved. Hugs sent to you all.

This guy is an excellent source of live stream information from everywhere in Florida during the storm.

Excellent representation of storm surge.

They have had excellent coverage on Fox since Irma began forming. We are all glued to the television watching or getting updates on smart phones.

As it gets closer I have no doubt our alarm security system will start blaring warnings of either hurricane in our area or tornadoes.

Stay safe everyone.

My stomach is in knots for you, oceanblueeyes. Can't begin to imagine how you're feeling. You must be so exhausted with worry.

Thank you so much for the update. Praying you keep your power, but most importantly that your dh is safely back home again soon. You and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Please post as you are able...

A botany question: How do those tall, slender palm trees in tropical areas withstand hurricane-force winds? I know the bark and branches might come off during intense storms, but how do palm tree trunks remain standing?

Technology is just amazing...it's a whole new world...all these streaming cams, etc...

I have to admit I am a little concerned for boat guy(s), not sure they'll make it, but I do have to say from one (former? :waitasec:) adrenaline junkie to another, serious balls props, riding out a Level 4 on your boat in the keys...I've done some crazy stuff (jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, standing on the pier during a hurricane, but that has me beat.

Finished backing up my laptop.

Weather's nasty out there yet I still hear cars driving around out there, we live by a main road in the city
