#Irma's eye is clearing the N coast of Cuba. Over very warm water, storm could intensify next 12-18 hours. More: http://wapo.st/2eVnesu

Some good news on our end, we called the landlord, he is going to stop by in an hour to board up our windows.

Glad we made that call - just want to play it safe, because some of our neighbor apartments are boarding up too (each one is individually owned)

I'm so thankful your landlord took your request seriously and acted immediately! ❤️

I read that Miami is Baker Acting the homeless who refuse to go into shelters in order to protect them.

Yep posted the article yesterday. They can either agree to shelter or they are put on a 72 hr hold.

That's smart. And humanitarian, imo. I'm happy to hear this, because the homeless population is absolutely, completely without any defense whatsoever against Irma.

I can't even comprehend the scope of all this. They are literally expecting about 6 ft of water to flood Naples?! I just can't even. :( Please stay safe everyone.

And that's just storm surge.

There have been people surfing the waves for the last hour on the Lauderdale-By-The-Sea Cam

At this moment in time, it seems so dangerous and wreckless. But back in the 60's, when we knew a hurricane was coming on the east coast, we would travel from the west coast to the east coast, with surfboards for us and the dogs, (yep, the dog would go on the surfboard) and we would body surf. Great memories! That was the time when there was no radar on tv, no forecasts with timing like these days. It was WAVES IN FLORIDA to surf, we are THERE!

It may be the carefree days of old repeated.

 I get it. If they aren't evacuating, and they live 5 miles inland, I would be there too in my younger years!

Perhaps sounds minimizing to many, but I get it.

In terms of duration of holding of cat 5 intensity stuff she is unreal

but IIRC I am confused about some of this width stuff

both andrew and charley we small like very tightly wound up

But Frances was huge width wide

Rita was huge

Katrina covered the entire Gulf of Mexico Ivan was bad boy

only from memory might be totally off !

The mayor of Cape Coral said to evacuate now and that shelters are filling up quickly!

Tampa Airport is closing at 8:00 tonight.
