I followed some people in this forum, to make it easier to see posts. I thought if they posted it would be in the Alert area?

I don't follow anyone, so take this as theoretical rather than from personal experience, but if you click on your own username at the top of the page then click "your news feed", it is supposed to show posts of people you follow.
Let me know if that works!
