@ashleyrenesc We are back in the courtroom today. Court is now back in session and the one of the last witnesses from the State has taken the stand. Here's a quick recap of everything we learned yesterday #MullisTrial

Opening statements; first witnesses testify in day 2 of Mullis Trial (with clip)

"DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) – Tuesday morning’s court session began with opening statements from the state and defense....
According to police records, Mullis’s IPad had a concerning search history, which included search terms for “organs in the body” and “killing unfaithful women.”

Defense attorney, Jake Firehelm, argues that Mullis had been working to reconcile with his wife....

However, the most tension in the courtroom occurred when the couple’s son testified. He was the first person to discover his mother’s body....

Their son claims that his father did briefly leave the hog barn they had been working in after Amy Mullis went into the shed to grab a pet carrier....

Testimony was given by other members of Amy Mullis’s family. They confirmed that the couple’s marriage had been rocky for quite some time.

Two deputies from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office testified before the court. They were the deputies who had arrived on scene after Mullis began to drive his wife to the emergency room....

The medical examiner also testified and described autopsy photos taken of Amy Mullis. He described that Amy Mullis had suffered from six fatal puncture wounds, despite the corn rake only having four prongs.

The medical examiner also described a jaw injury discovered on Amy Mullis. He said that this injured was not consistent with falling into gravel; rather that it was the result of blunt force trauma...."

@ashleyrenesc Todd Mullis noticed Amy had a negative change in behavior. She seemed depressed and lethargic. Todd was researching what could be causing this behavior (depression, pre-menopause, etc). Staner supported his research #MullisTrial

@ashleyrenesc While Staner is unaware of the most couple's marriage counselor suggestions, she does recall being told that the counselor suggested that Amy Mullis should be held accountable for having her affairs #MullisTrial

@ashleyrenesc Staner was not confident that Amy's lover wanted to have a romantic relationship. Their affair began as a purely sexual relationship. Amy, however, was certain that his feelings for her were genuine #MullisTrial

@ashleyrenesc While Staner did support Todd Mullis's research in pre-menopause, she did believe that Todd was using this to make Amy seem like she was "crazy" #MullisTrial

Authorities say #ToddMullis killed his wife with a corn rake. But what is a corn rake?

WHAT EXACTLY IS A CORN RAKE?

September 17, 2019

"Similar to a pitchfork, the corn rake has four sharp, metal prongs that curl away from the handle. The rake, when dropped into corn, helps scoop the corn without having to twist or turn the handle to gather it, making it easier for the operator.

In the case of Iowa v. Todd Mullis, prosecutors say medical examiners believe the puncture wounds in Amy Mullis show the corn rake entering her body twice, at two different angles.

The defense is not saying there wasn’t a murder, only that there’s not enough evidence to prove that Todd Michael Mullis is the person who put the rake in Amy’s back...."

If Todd sent Amy to get the animal carrier before she went to the house, he would have had to commit the murder almost immediately afterwards, before she could complete the task. He would have almost had to follow her. I'm confident Todd did this but the son's testimony doesn't help the prosecution very much.

It doesn't take long for someone to stick a corn rake into someone, IMO.

It took Jodi Arias 2 minutes to murder Travis and she did a lot more to him:
