Blake Hansel was last seen around 2 a.m. on Michael Road. Cedar Rapids police confirm they are helping in the search, and want to speak with anyone who has seen him since Saturday.

Cedar Rapids police are asking for the public’s help finding a 38-year-old man who has been missing since Saturday morning.

Hansel is described as a 6′1″ white man with blue eyes and red hair. He was last seen wearing a yellow hat, grey sweatpants and a hoodie.

In 2018 he filed to legally changed his name from Blake Allen Hacker to Hansel. Iowa Courts Online Search

I found possible earlier addresses in Colorado, but could just be someone with the same name Blake A. Hacker. But it does show an apartment address in Lakewood CO as of March of 2025 and a Cedar Rapids single family home address on Sherman Street through September of this eyar.

I'm not sure why he'd change his name - he had a few vehicular violations starting in his teens but none were serious or involved impaired driving, typical tickets IMO for a young person. There was one civil case against a young woman that was dismissed but no case details and it wasn't anything recent. I can't see him changing his name because of "points" on his driving record.

I worry more about the time of day he was seen (2 am) fairly light clothing outdoors at nighttime in the Fall (here in Illinois it's down in the 30's at night).. Neither bode well.

I've seen a couple posts unverified of the outcome, but nothing in msm yet. Here is a map (from Google view of Covington, IA) of Michael Road where he was last seen. The Cedar River is not far to the east. Covington · Iowa 52324 Still looking for "Bird Lane" where his backpack was reported to be found. There is a "Bird Preserve" about a mile-ish south, southeast of Michael Road and south of the river if you enlarge the google map area for Michael Road.

Sadly, it has been verified that Blake has died, his body being found in the Cedar River, a few miles upstream of the Ellis Boat Ramp.
