Circumstances of Disappearance:
Strassburger was reported missing to the Le Claire Police Department in Le Claire, Iowa, on August 6, 1982. At the time of his disappearance, he was employed as a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois. He was last seen around 12:15 AM on July 28th, on his way home from work en route to Davenport, Iowa, where he resided with his parents. He failed to arrive home and has never been heard from again.

Strassburger's 1976 Oldsmobile was found abandoned 29 minutes after he left work. It was located in the eastbound lane on the Le Claire bridge over the Mississippi River on Interstate 80. This location was about 15 miles from the route he normally would have taken from work to his parent's home. Extensive searches of the river and the surrounding area turned up no sign of him.

Three years after he went missing, a witness in a court proceeding in another state claimed to know about a homicide connected to Strassburger's case. Authorities described the information as "extremely credible" and stated the witness knew information about Strassburger's disappearance that had never been publicly released. They were never able to verify the witness's account, however. In mid-2000, authorities stated they were close to issuing indictments in the case, but none were forthcoming.

Investigators say they have no proof of foul play in Strassburger’s disappearance, but they believe he was the victim of a homicide. His case remains unsolved and his whereabouts are still unknown.
