Beware of shiny objects...just sayin'.

Isn't the family accounted for ... either at work, or with family?

I do not know that answer...(not accusing) we have not heard where numerous relatives were that day...eg: Aunt T, MCM's brother and gf and we have never heard for sure what time Misty checked out, was Dan really at home etc...?
It's hard to say since the FBI has not ruled out anyone?

My theory has completely changed. Now I'm thinking that this is not someone local, but a traveling perp.

Staging, for me, means exactly that: the bikes were meant to be found at a location that would perplex investigators, take the investigation in the wrong direction and delay persuit of the perps. If the bikes were staged - and police believe this is a possibility - then it worked.

Can you explain which family member had the opportunity to stage the bikes? We know the children were riding their bikes at 12:15 near the Collin's home. All of the parents are accounted for at that time. They are accounted for between first announcement that the girls were missing and the discovery of the bikes. From my understanding, the parents are excluded from having anything to do with staging the bikes. That does not mean that criminals do not stage crime scenes to lead investigators in the wrong direction.

My current theory does not involve the family, but was just wanting everyone's thoughts on the staging. Although, it would be possible that family or a family member would have "someones" assistance so it would make it harder to link back to them or family...and after they were seen on video. Again, I think the chances this happened are very small.

OK now, if it was staged by a random perp, then they would have to be a local pedo ....after a few of your thoughts, because if the perp just grabbed the girls to take further than E'Dale or Waterloo say, then they could be very far away by the time they were discovered missing....even within 15 minutes. So no need to throw the investigation off. Perp(s) lure girls at lake and off to oblivion. I'm going on thought they wouldn't need or want to take the time to throw off the investigation if they felt they would be long gone by the time of their missing was known. Just thinking on paper. :banghead:

Here is an image before the lake was drained. Uploaded originally on WS by someone else on July 14th. We can see that the pipe is visible and we can also see that even BEFORE the lake was starting to be drained, there was a shoreline that could be walked on to the east.
Girls were taken at the lake, walked along the edge of the lake back to Maiden Lane and then taken away. I can see it. And it would fit the timeline easily. The girls don't even have to have been taken by the time TG comes along. Anytime between 12:11 and when the girls were missed.

Thank you for bringing that pic back into the light of day, MNDad.

If this was a "random" "white van" abduction...it doesn't seem to fit the pattern that the van gets parked down in a hard to get away area, waiting for victims, walking around, in and out of fences, on an active public bike trail....not even to park there and grab and leave the bikes...just doesn't fit what has been described by other attempted white van type abductions. MOO

I've been open to other suggestions posted and consider each one, but I keep coming back to this simple theory. Bad guy in the woods near Maiden Lane and girls were just strolling the shore. My kids mess around by the river even though I tell them not to. My son and his friends walk into a storm drain and go so far back they can't see daylight. Tell them to stop, but they do it. Kids like to be places they are not supposed to be. Kids like stones and rocks and sticks and have no sense of time or distance - they just stroll - boys and girls.

I agree. I will be very surprised if it turns out to be more complicated.

Now, where are these beautiful little girls!?!? :(

Playing games on the cell phone just means they pretended it was working, like playing house. JMO

I'm not sure what sort of cell phone it can be played on but a friend of mine has Angry Birds on his cell phone and says he's totally addicted to playing. He has to compete with his kids for Angry Birds time.

So there are games for cell phones that can be quite engrossing. I don't know if that is the case with Elizabeth's phone or not.

A further thought: at Elizabeth's age, I'm not sure I'd want to let her have the capacity to make and receive telephone calls out of my supervision. But she's plenty old enough to call 911 and give her name, address, etc. So a deactivated cell phone would be perfect. It would only be able to call 911, so only good for emergency telephone calls. And it could be loaded with a few fun games to make it more likely Elizabeth would carry it with her.

My ex-sil just reminded me that there are cell phone games designed to appeal to children as young as 18 months, so the parent can distract their child as needed.

I had a friend whose daughter made up a gang rape, at age 14, to cover up for the fact she was where she wasn't supposed to be.

LE saw through it in a heartbeat but not before we'd all had conniption fits at what had "happened" in our neighbourhood, and to our girl.

I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time...

She would have had to have service to use any apps....like you've suggested above. I'm guessing they were simpler games that came with phone.

It is so wierd how MCM, DM and son DM don't have anything on their FB walls about Lyric. Many of their friends have changed their profile or cover art image to feature the missing girls, but not these people.

I 'm not saying that it means anything or not. It could mean that some people's theories are correct and they are being held somewhere safe and they aren't worried about them. It could mean that they are not frequent FB users and don't understand the power of social networking to spread the word of a cause. It could mean that they figure all their friends already know so what is the point. It could mean that they don't really care. It could mean that they were involved, but I am not suggesting that; just stating what it could mean.

It could mean nothing at all, so this is just an observation.

It certainly has been noticed by a few, and it could be just drug related....burnt; but MCM certainly displays some affects of histrionic disorder, imo, and could be the reason she is disassociated from her children. JMO, IMO, etc. Not bashing.... just an observation.

Perp has to be local. And by local I mean anywhere in the Waterloo area. He's a serious pedo, so I would imagine he cruises a lot of sites in the area, not putting all his eggs in one basket. So even if he's never lived in Evansdale, he knows because he's explored and he knows what spots to look for.

Even though it makes sense to me that a pedo might commute between towns since Iowa has great roads, I'm not comfortble with the idea of a pedo coming into a big town where he might stick out.

Thanks button wasn't enough. I couldn't find a pic and was hoping someone could. Bravo MNDad. :rocker:
