Ollipop, I saw a post by you somewhere, lol.
now I don't see it. Anyhwoooo......
I have to say, Imhoo, if these girls were alive, there is no way LE WOULD keep
them
away from their families this long,

there is just no way.

I think this case is going cold and fast. I believe these
little girls met with a terrible fate and that a sneaky, smart, person
dealt that fate. Moo

Olli did a drive by and there is only ONE camera.

The camera angle was exactly the same. Only the zoom was different. The first was only zoomed into the section of the road where the two bicycles were fully seen. The "second" video released was the full shot.

An additional comment on the video... They only stated that those were the only two bicyclists to pass. They didn't say anything about the number of pedestrians or vehicles that passed, nor did they let us know if anyone was out in the break area (there is a chair) before or after the bikes passed

I was referring to two videos because there were two times in which a video of the girls was released. One may have been a zoomed in shot of the same footage but still, there were two videos released. The 12:11 time was not reported until the second video came out and no, they were not exactly the same, so they were two videos!

Just an observation, Lederman's has a white cube delivery truck with lettering.

I saw it on Google maps in the Lederman's parking lot out front.

I wanted to clear up the location of the Collins home. The address is 166 Brovan Blvd. Google maps the address correctly according to Ollipop. Bing maps has it a few houses further west (left). I made that mistake using Bing earlier and incorrectly stated you can see the Collins home on the Cctv. If Google maps/Olli are correct and the house is the largest one near the corner then you cannot see the Collins house/driveway. Sorry for that mix up. Not sure why Bing is mapping that way.

And yet the need for a booth at the fair makes me discouraged...does LE really not have a suspect? And if not, how could they have dared to proclaim they believed the girls were alive in the way that they did?

From what I understand, the booth at the fair is not LE's idea. Some people from over on facebook asked fair officials to pass out fliers. When Fair officials refused, the locals rallied the troops and sent e-mails, made phone calls, and left comments with all the local news stations. My understanding is that the Fair officials gave in after all the fuss. I don't think the booth at the fair is LE's request.

So, I don't feel like this booth is a sign that LE has nothing. I think it's a response to the public requesting it. IMO

Sorry, I understand why a statement like that would be discouraged. I have heard of 4 "attempts" with a white van here in Iowa and 3 of them have been said to be misunderstandings or lies. I realize I may not be hearing all of the stories but I live in Cedar Rapids & the white van paranoia is driving me crazy.

Regardless of is they are real or fake, I still don't believe this is what happened to L & E because it just does not fit with the story of the 5 yo here in Cedar Rapids (white van stops on busy street to quickly snatch boy)

Here are the stories I know of:

5 year old boy in Cedar Rapids - 2 people jumped from white van and grabbed him. Boy's father chased them away. I haven't heard any follow up on this which makes me feel it was real but they haven't found the van.

"Last week, Marion police said a man driving a white van offered a 14-year-old boy candy at an intersection near Linn-Mar High School. The boy took off on his bicycle, and the interaction was later reported to police, but officials said it was not an abduction attempt."

http://thegazette.com/2012/08/02/cedar-rapids-police-fielding-several-white-van-tips/

"Two girls who reported an abduction attempt to Indianola police Monday fabricated the story, authorities said."

http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2012/08/07/abduction-attempt-reported-in-indianola/

"And last week in Dubuque, police were called after a man in a white van approached a young girl. Police talked with the owner of the van, and decided not to file any criminal charges. "

http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/...1/abduction-attempt-reported-in-cedar-rapids/

What stories am I missing?

This one was a hoax in Des Moines: http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2012/08/07/abduction-attempt-reported-in-indianola/

I think it's worth sorting out the ones that are real from the ones that are hoaxes.

Maybe two versions of the same video, but that is completely different than having video of the girls at two locations at two times. It's ok, I understand the confusion. I was just hoping there was another video that I didn't know about.

Well it is being called a "police booth", whatever that is.

Why would the girls take S Evans to Gilbert and then turn on Gilbert? Elementary my dears...follow the sidewalks. The sidewalk on S. Evans ends where Gilbert crosses it. The sidewalk on Gilbert leads to the nature trail. I had to remember riding around a small town on my own bike when I was 10. Why would I prefer a certain route? I always chose the safest route to ride on.

Oh thanks! I didn't even click the first link yet. I hadn't heard about this one.

Interested to see if there are more attempts that were not fabricated/blown out of proportion. Everyone around here is so skittish lately. (not that they shouldn't be! I'm certainly keeping my kids closer too)

I know! It's always been very common to see kids out on bikes, playing at the playground, roaming between the backyards, walking to school and going over to the gas station for a pop without adults. I spent my childhood on the East coast with lots of stories of abductions and murders, so I really loved that my children growing up in Iowa did not have that constant concern. Now everything has changed. I'm having daily battles with my 14 year old who wants to go down to the playground to swing and listen to her ipod. I actually followed her down one day (in my white van!!) and she was so zoned out with her headphones on she didn't even notice I was creeping along behind her while she walked! I finally put my foot down and said no more.

Things have changed. It's sad.

Where does this couple live? Would it be out of the girls way if going to the lake? Both of them seem very sure that Elizabeth rides by there house every night/evening. So much for the family saying she never went to far.

I don't know their address but from the locals who've posted I got the feeling the Carpenter house wasn't that far from the Collins house but it's closer to the lake than the Collins house, and further than anyone thought Elizabeth in particular usually went. It's also been posted by at least one local person that riding by the Carpenter house would involve a small detour for the kids to ride to the lake from the Collins house, although it doesn't sound like it's that big of a detour.

They live in Lake Avenue.

They see them nearly every day they said, so maybe the film clip IS from two different days?

Mr Pahl said they downloaded days of images.

Concerned citizens wanted to have a booth at the Fair to pass out flyers/whatever. The Fair had to refuse because all of their stalls are already accounted for. And the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is already planning to pass out stuff and take tips from the public at their booth.

The Iowa State Fair has a "hall of justice" type building where Iowa LE and EMS have their stuff. Outside, Iowa State Patrol likes to line up their cruisers. Pretty impressive. I've manned a booth with my father there a few times.

Just found out where he lives. Lake Ave is where he lives. Just did a whitepage(dot)com search on his name and location.

There are so many things about the case that just don't make sense to me. Does anyone know if it's been stated that TG rides the bike path at lunch time every day? I know this is probably way out in left field, but I'm still trying to find a way to have the time line make more sense. One thing that's still bugging me is why they'd ride/play for 45 minutes, and suddenly huirry to the lake just before it was time to go home.

If the abduction was planned and TG is there about the same time every day, is it possible that someone planted bikes there for him to see, and then replaced them with the girls' bikes after they were taken? It could be that they were hoping to have him become the main suspect to keep people from looking at them. Whoever did it has to be very familiar with the area even if it isn't a resident of Evansdale. I'm just going to say "they" since there is no evidence yet that says how many people were involved.

If they have been planning it for a while, they could have checked to see how often anyone came through that spot and noticed him every time they checked. They could also be familiar enough with the girls to know that WC usually brings Lyric to the Collins' home for a few hours a day (she said 4-5 hours a day, and probably leaves after lunch or when Misty gets off work).

Even if the timeline could work, it seems to be depending a lot on luck. Luck that: the girls did go even though they knew they could get in trouble and that WC was in a hurry to leave that day; the girls were riding close enough together to be able to grab them both before either screamed or tried to run; the girls got there in time to grab them and get them out of sight within a couple minutes of TG coming by; that TG didn't get upset about the bikes being in the way and look around to find the owners, etc., etc.

I guess in addition to the timing, I've also been trying to find away to believe they could still be alive.

I used google maps to zoom in on the streets in Evansdale and it appears that the girls could have taken Brovan to Sipple, cut between two businesses to S Evans and rode the sidewalk all the way to Gilbert where the sidewalk on Evans ends and then take the sidewalk on Gilbert to the nature trail, passing the house on the corner of Lake and Gilbert. This means that they did not pass on Arbutus, but would have passed the Fire Station. It makes the most sense to me.
IMHO, of course.

If you had to guess, why do you suppose the girls rode that far when they were on schedule to meet with grandma at a certain time?
Did they have previous plans to meet someone?
Or we're they grabbed by an opportunist?
