I think any of those routes gets them to the lake before TG sees the bikes. I agree, that he (or the reporter who interviewed him) seems to have estimated "around 12:20" based on a 12:27 phone call. If two girls can make it from River Forest Road and Brovan, all the way to the SE corner of Meyers Lake AND have time to be off their bikes and out of sight (they honestly could have been standing out on the jetty and TG simply never noticed, focusing instead on not crashing into their bikes) all in 8 minutes, then TG, who apparently was riding swiftly enough to remember needing to swerve suddenly, could easily have made it the rest of the way around the lake to where the trail continues north (up) to Gilbert, and cut over to Casey's (the corner of Gilbert and River Forest can be cut due to a parking lot) in much less than 7 minutes. Granted, he claims to have used the restroom, but conceivably that was the source of his haste, therefore he remedied it hastily.

Does anyone have the link for TG's comments? I'd like to read any statement (although not official) he's made regarding this. I am wondering if this will give us better clues as to where exactly the bikes were on the path when TG came by.

If he stated he had to "quickly swerve" - to me that means that there was a blind corner or curve of some sort where he didn't KNOWINGLY see them laying in the path as he was biking along...KWIM?

I also have to assume that if he had to "quickly swerve" to miss them and they WERE right on the path with no blind spot, then he was NOT paying too close attention to the path ahead of him (maybe listening to music or just lost in thoughts while riding) which could also mean he wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings??

I guess to me, regardless...if he did in fact state he "quickly swerved" he wasn't well aware of the bikes presence as he came along the path.:waitasec:

I think there are differing opinions as to whether or not the girls were there at the time TG came through. Given the timeline you believe the girls could very well have been there when TG came by (playing inside the fence) OR they could have even been WITH the perp on the inside of the fence.

If the girls rode past Casey's on River Forest near Gilbert, would they have been on video? The image of the white van at the pumps shows the houses across the street? If so, would LE keep this secret for any reason? Or should we assume that they didn't go that way?

That's been my thought all along behind why they wanted to talk to the guy in the white van. I think it was coincidence he had a white van. I think they were wanting to ask the guy about something they saw in the video's background during the time he was parked out there.

Does anyone know the time he was parked at the store?

IIRC there's a quote in from an article that said something along the lines of "2 hours after last being seen and 2 hours before bikes being found".

Of course this was (deliberately?) vague, given that they were last seen "around" 12 and bikes were found "around" 4, so I would *GUESS* that van was at Casey's "around" 2.

IIRC, need to find the quote.

"Another interesting fact is that the photo was taken roughly two hours after the girls left their grandmother's house, and two hours before the bikes were found."

<SBM, oops, link doesn't work so I guess it's not allowed, so I'm removing it. you can search the quote above to reach the "article" I'm referring to.>

(I'm still looking for the original article I read that in, which was MSM.)

I guess I didn't clearly say what I meant to say. The Perps had)hidden) bikes themselves met the girls earlier and had a vehicle and told the girls they would meet them at the lake trail. The perps placed their bikes around the gated area, TG rides by and actually sees the perps bikes but no one by them cause the perps have gone deep into the woods. Then the girls ride and see the bikes and then the perps the girls don't know they are perps, they maybe familar to them) come out and subdue the girls or lures them into the wood. The perp/perps leave the girls bikes and take their bikes (the perps bikes) load them in a waiting vehicle and take off.

All just my opinion!:moo:

Well IF this is true than maybe Mr.C wife is correct in seeing the girls around 3?

Edited: found the link.

From what I understand, the booth at the fair is not LE's idea. Some people from over on facebook asked fair officials to pass out fliers. When Fair officials refused, the locals rallied the troops and sent e-mails, made phone calls, and left comments with all the local news stations. My understanding is that the Fair officials gave in after all the fuss. I don't think the booth at the fair is LE's request.

So, I don't feel like this booth is a sign that LE has nothing. I think it's a response to the public requesting it. IMO

fyi...LE always has a booth at the fair, actually a section of an entire bldg.
The FB group wanted a booth and all the booths are sold out. LE already had plans to have info about the girls at their "booth" so everyone appears to be happy now...

Hello Jewel53!

I'm not the fastest typist either, so don't worry, you are in good company! I noticed that your first post was stuck at the bottom of a page. It's easy for us to miss one when the threads are running as fast as this one has been!

Count me among those who aren't putting much stock in to the placement of the bikes. Variables like the bike placement and whether they went through the gate or over the fence or around the fence are not that interesting to me. In my opinion, it has been talked to death but the rehashing of the lake scene never ends! Not your faukt, of course...you have only posted once!

I think that we are more likely to find the perp by looking at those who had motive and opportunity, and those who are involved in serious illegal activity.

* My best bet right now is the camper creeper who posted ads online, desperately seeking sexual encounters at the lake, and he is a RSO. Maybe he has pervert friends who helped, or maybe I'm just wrong about him, we'll see.

* I don't trust boyfriends of parents and grandparents as a general rule, and if family is involved in any way, I'm thinking it's someone who befriended or did "business" with the adults to get to the girls for sex and for money.

*
My final suspect would be someone unknown to the family who lives near the lake and has observed the girls on other occasions. This type of person would have a loosely planned scenario in mind and simply execute that plan when the best opportunity presented itself.

It would be great if the girls are alive, but I fear they were used for whatever purpose and killed soon after. :moo:

Once again my post ended up at the end of the page 26 post 650 if anyone cares to read it. It is a different theory about the bikes and how TG could have seen bikes and not the girls.

Apparently two girls in Iowa lied about there attempted abduction which if true is a terrible thing to do.

Hmmm...this caught my eye in the article:

"Earlier on Wednesday, Capt. Rick Abben of the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office said it was impossible to tell whether the Cedar Rapids abduction attempt had anything to do with the missing girls.

“You can’t correlate the two. It’s just that now this has supposedly happened down in Linn County, so it’s just something else for us to look into,” he said."

Which leads my hinky down camper lane...MOO

Cinder, if you were behind him, how did he follow you? This is very weird.

Thank you! I wasn't sure between accent differences and just perceptions. That's a good point, I didn't see any kind of pause either.

I also noticed he said "we" a lot. It suggests to me that he often says "we" about himself and his wife (which I think is very sweet BTW). I think it's unlikely his wife saw the girls that particular day if she was out delivering papers, but I don't doubt at all that he/she/"we" saw the girls often. He also said "we" about himself and the town a lot so I think he's just really connected to his family and community. Don't mean to suggest anything w/that, I'm just trying to hard to help pin down the timeline.

BBM

Snipped from the article: Marcella Carpenter was out delivering newspapers with her granddaughter when deputies visited the house.

I didn't get the impression Mrs Carpenter saw the girls that day, but they didn't say where she was at that time. She was delivering papers when the deputies came by. At least, that's the way I read it.
