A diversion of some kind maybe. I think too much time has passed for that. I would love nothing more than to have these two little ones show up.

My father in law is very good friends with the head of our sheriff's department. He has told my FIL, on many occassions, that there are groups who meet in the deep woods for different immoral reasons and that it is known among LE that people are sometimes murdered at these meetings and dumped in different wooded places in our county. There is NOTHING about these strange get-togethers on the local news but I believe the sheriff. He is a good man who sees a lot more crime than the typical person in the community ever knows anything about.

I haven't seen anyone here say anything about the fact that the girls were taken on Friday the 13th. I haven't brought it up because the last time I brought up (on another case) that Satanism is a religion I was highly scolded and basically told I have a mental illness. Satanism is real whether we want to believe it or not. Lots more I could say about this but ... in short, Friday the 13th is one of the "holiest" days on the Satanic calendar. Abduction is the main way that Satanists get their victims. We may not want to even entertain the horrible thought but I guarantee you that the FBI knows some of the wicked things that occur on that day.

I agree that day might be appealing to those with that bend (disturbed youth ?)
This sometimes happens too,( not that the parents are gay), but perhaps someone thinks they are not good role models..

SBM, BBM, I feel some kind of unease about this area, really. Wish there was something I could do to explore that feeling, but I'm just way too many hundred miles away. :(

Maybe I can "explore that feeling" for you. I've always wanted to check it out anyway. The real issue for me is that I believe it is private land. But if I get a chance, I'll head over and get some ground-level pics. Keep in mind it won't happen today, likely not tomorrow.

The skate park was mentioned here way back in the beginning. I did find older articles (2010) where it has periodically been shut down for vandalism/graffiti , and one article mentioned not allowing bicycles any more ( I assume being used on the actual ramps?, etc)
Perhaps Ollipop or one of the other locals can confirm whether or not this skate park is actually open and being used??

As far as I know, the skatepark is open. I don't skate, lol, but I see kids there on occasion (including bikes). The actual park itself is fenced in, but it is right next to the trail. Remember, also, that it is just down the street from the police station, with no buildings between (altho there is a line of trees). The skatepark does not feel hidden or secluded or private in any way, and I think it was designed that way.

Ok, how about we explore this a different way - maybe a new perspective, explore new possibilities.

One thing that has kind of nagged at me is the differential between Grandma saying the girls NEVER went to the lake, and Mr. C saying he has seen Elizabeth quite often.

...

So...getting to my point...if I didn't want my Grandma or mom and dad to know I had been riding around, I would NOT go a route where people who know me would report back to my parents.

I would be sneaky and go a route where no one would know me! I'm not going to go by anyone's house who is friends of my parents, grandparents, etc because they are gonna tell on me!

...
SBM

Good post, good points. I wonder if there isn't someone on Evans that maybe the girls knew that they didn't want seeing them riding, like a fellow church member, or friends parents/neighbors. I'd always assumed they were drawn to Lake Ave, but maybe they were avoiding Evans or the trail.

And I agree that the Carpenters may have information that they don't even realize is valuable, i.e. who was Lizzie chatty with, etc.

Thanks so much for your response, it's very helpful and answered some questions I had been wondering. The gate being open makes me feel like they likely went into the lake side of the fence. I didn't feel certain of this before.

As far as I know, the gate has been unlocked for quite some time. I've read nothing to indicate it was left open when the bikes were found. Not that it wasn't, but I suspect that detail would have been mentioned as part of LE's justification for draining the lake.

Geez, that bridge over the river on the road that leads to nothingness, I hope people are out there looking because that is all just too convenient for a perp.

Yeah, I'm assuming you are seeing the Cedar River Trail that runs south out of town. The old bridge washed out a couple years ago in the flooding, and there's a new one that was just completed. Lots of bikers and walkers use it. River Road is sort of an odd road, too. I think most of the homes down there were under water in the last flood. I've walked down there with my kids, and it has kind of an "exclusive" feel, because there's really no reason to be there if you don't live in the area. I've never explored back behind the houses. The map shows a road/path heading back there, but it is clearly marked as private property.

Sorry to quote myself on this, this might be far fetched, but I guess if we're following the logic that someone might want to take them but not harm them, could a possible motive in that scenario be the eventual reward money?

This was discussed, and compared to a case in the UK, I believe (can't remember names/details). But local rumors consider this facet often.

Oh god. Homophobic people piss me off so much. Gah!

I had more written, but backspaced because I don't want to give that twit the time of day. That is all I will say about that.

WTF is wrong with people who claim to be Christians making statements like this? Unreal. This guy's a pastor like I'm an astronaut.

Do you, or anyone, know how much the reward is at now?

Because I just found out that the people that own that property have the same last name as Misty's boyfriend. You don't think thats alittle strange at all?

Having the same last name and ACTUALLY being related to the case are 2 different things. Please do NOT post information about those that are not related somehow to the case.

What this means is that prior to posting the info, it needs to be sleuthed out and confirmed that the info is related. Once it has been sleuthed out... if it is related, then it can be posted.

Hope that helps,

Salem

Do you, or anyone, know how much the reward is at now?

From what I understand, the reward is put up by LE (not sure exactly what part of LE), at $50,000.

There is currently a bucket on the counter of Casey's on River Forest Road (I'd assume other places as well), asking for donations to increase the reward, and showing a stated goal of $100,000. I've no clue who puts those buckets there, or who collects. Seemed very informal. I didn't donate.

On a side note, my friend's bar was approached not long ago to help raise money by hosting bands in some kind of fundraising effort. It was going to be motorcycle ride, and they were looking for a bar to host the destination. He refused, because he couldn't be sure who/for what the money would be for, and didn't want to be seen as advertising his bar or gaining in any way from the girls' disappearance. He offered to donate money, food, beer, equipment, etc, but they didn't want it. They wanted a place to party, and he wasn't going to be that place. We couldn't think of a way to enjoy a party thrown to "honor" or raise money for missing girls. Felt weird. I know of at least two other bar owners who also declined.

Thanks Ollipop. I think your friend made the correct decision.

I agree that homophobia is a horrible thing. There is not believing in the "gay lifestyle" (whatever that means. gay people live regular lives just like everyone else) and actively advocating abducting their children. Get it?? he wants to ABDUCT the children of people because he doesn't like who they sleep with? He wants to bring harm to these families; rip them apart. How does this make sense? How is this simply not believing in something? if you don't see the difference, then I feel sad for you. It absolutely is homophobia. Virulent homophobia.

Mods Sorry for the OT but I can't condone any sort of support for a person who advocates abducting children. Especially when we are posting on a website aimed at promoting the safety of children. All children.

I have thought of this too but was afraid to voice it. There are a lot of kind hearted people donating money to help out.

i thought of this in connection to the drugs too. If they're being held hostage for drug money then that money can be obtained through fundraisers for the girls.

Not sure I believe either theory but it has crossed my mind.

Can anyone recall child abduction cases (by a stranger) where the predator staged the abduction scene to appear as if the child was abducted at a different location (moving bikes or etc...)? TIA

SBM

He specified that he has a US Cellular phone, which is the same carrier I have a contract with.

I looked on my own phone to see if there are time settings and discovered that while it can be switched between 12 and 24 hour cycles, the time is set automatically.

Then I called US Cellular. According to the service rep I talked to, all US Cellular phones are set automatically each time they ping. And their tower time is constantly checked by the national clock.

Like an atomic clock?

Although I understand why many people don't want to donate $, or be seen as profiting from this, I believe all the fundraisers are part of a larger plan to keep the girls name in the media.

Go check out Klass Kids website and it has an entire plan for abducted children. It's very informative in regards to media relations.

Here's the example 6 week plan-

Here's their homepage, scroll to the bottom for the table of contents.

Hi. Long time reader, 1st time posting here. I have followed many other missing persons cases and wonder if this abduction could be related to the numerous other cases of young blonde women in the midwest. PI Bill Warner links many of these abductions with travelling road construction projects and 9 of them were abducted on days with 3 in the date. Both these conditions apply to these girls.

http://pibillwarner.wordpress.com/2...ed-by-a-facebook-predator-cops-have-no-clues/

Quoting myself here since the date thing came up. It was said the girls did not fit the age profile of these other cases (the date does however), but these women are all described as petite, and as looking younger than they were. Maybe the perp started going after younger victims? The other abductions happened lare at night or very early, not a time kids would be around. Its possible he never had the opportunity, or the boldness to grab a young girl in broad daylight.

I still think the road construction link is valid. I assume LE has investgated that. I mean these construction workers were probably the closest people to the abduction site, providing they were grabbed where the bikes were found.
