MOTHEROCEAN, thanks for the latest map.

I just can't get past that! I think they had to be abducted close to Brovan.

Btw. . not all 3 sightings would have to be wrong. Only Mr C claimed to see the girls. The other two claimed to see only the bikes. I take that the FBI woman was correct about the 2:30 guy and that TB just mis-understood.

One more thing. . .why were the bikes staged at the lake and not the river? Idk. Maybe the perp was familiar with the lake but not the river, or maybe he thought it was a more secluded spot. I'm still thinking that he thought if he staged the bikes at the lake, and then later dumped the girls in the lake that LE would assume that they drown. Perfect crime, no? It's just didn't occur to him that LE would drain the lake.

Let's hope there are new surveillance cameras at Meyers lake.

See, this is why I don't think the girls got far after being caught on cctv. LE would have long since asked for any surveillance tape in the area. If LE says the last time the girls were seen is on tape on Brovan, then that is the last time they were caught on tape. Doesn't the bank and grocery store have surveillance cameras? Don't any of the other businesses on Lafayette have them? Is there any way to get from Brovan to the Evansdale Trail without going by some cameras?

It's just a hunch. .. but I believe there is something else on that tape. In fact my first reaction when I saw it was that the girls had possibly already been approached and were trying to get away. Mind you, not in a way that they really understood the danger, but in a "OMG, what a creepy guy . . .hahaha. " kinda way.
About other cctvs! I know right?...no way other businesses don't have them...no way. Imoo of course.

Just thinking.... why did LE stop at Mr. C's house to ask if they knew anything but not stop at Ollipop's house which is even closer to the lake? Is there a cctv at the PD/Fire Station on Gilbert & Evans? Maybe there were seen on video there.

Yeah, no kidding, huh?!

It's probably the safest place in Evansdale now.

ETA-woops. . I don't know how I managed to double post. . .I must be getting tired.

I imagine that is exactly it.....unsupervised computer use , using a fake name and lie about their age. Imoo

Fairly early on, all pertinent computers were confiscated by LE. Even if the girl(s) used fake aliases, someone else's account, or hid communications from family members, it's extremely difficult to hide such activity from LE, even if the hard drive(s) were formatted. I wouldn't be surprised if even library accounts were searched, as well, although a lot of that is barred on public computers.
While Lyric, according to MCM, had left her cell phone at home (WC's) and didn't have it with her that day, all phones were also confiscated and thoroughly gone over. All of that, when LE steps in, is actually pretty hard to hide then.

This is something I have been wondering about, too. What led LE to canvass Mr. C's neighborhood, but ignore Ollipop's neighborhood?:what:

His neighborhood wasn't totally ignored.
OP himself said a few threads back that LE was
talking to people across the street from his home.
He also said sheriffs were driving on his street.
also a few threads back.

:what:

It's late at night and I'm probably not thinking clearly anymore, but the thought just popped into my head that maybe a magician was involved in the disappearance. Just a random thought about how else could they disappear so quickly....

Hu???????

Huh. Weird. Thanks for making me Google. :) I mean that sincerely.

I doubt most of what I'm thinking can be posted here as it probably drifts into the realm of psychics - which I know aren't allowed and I don't even claim to be one. But it's so along those lines, dreams that make no sense and the same bizarre details keep coming up. Thanks for you and others responding, at least I'm not the only one wondering about the number 8. I don't know that it'll be at all helpful for finding the girls but maybe there's something to it?

I wouldn't call it "psychic" at all, really. Human beings are, by nature, highly symbolic. That's why some fool invented math and called it a language (and thoroughly confused me as a child til I just picked letters).
Actually, I was also considering "religious" symbolism here, too. Quite often, there is a strong tie to religion with perps who abduct children.

Teeny, you're right. I'd forgotten about computers being confiscated. Is there some way the kids could have erased things on the harddrive?

an 8 and 10 year old?? Not a chance! It's actually a lot harder than most people think, and that age... they'd have to be genuine computer whizzes (and already recruited by the NSA) Simply deleting/erasing does little, actually. It's still there...

A possible answer to why the Carpenters were asked about seeing them. It's very possible that someone with LE or FD noticed him out watering his yard. They got to the lake about the time he said he finished.

and with all that LE showing up, it's also possible Mr. Carpenter met 'em half way across Gilbert... with Mrs. Carpenter offering a subtle push <lol> ("Go see what's going on, Bob!") Bless 'em.

I didn't think so but thought I would ask.

I know this was posted in WS some time ago, but another "random" thought kind of bothered me lately. Lyric's flip flops. I did see in an "extended" poster that she was wearing black Sesame Street ones with a picture that, when the shoes were put side-by-side, they made a picture. Those flip flops, as far as I could find, are only in MEN'S sizes (at WalMart). While I'm about 4-5 inches taller than Lyric, she's still quite a lot bigger than this ol' cow. I wear an 8, or a 6-7 in men's, so would have trouble finding a pair that fit me. They'd be too big for me, so she probably has pretty big hooves there. Big enough, perhaps, for someone ELSE to put those flip flops on and, ya know... leave a trail? That would possibly place Lyric "at the lake" for a scent trail. Maybe. As for Elizabeth, while I doubt the purse was used, she could have been there earlier with those neighbors. Just a thought... probably a really wild one.
