Did they send her home? Or is she just no longer at that facility?

I hope she's getting help.

Lyric needs her.

IDK, but if she was a suicide risk, she would be under watch 24/7.

Hummm, the girls have been missing 5 weeks .
If LE has a poi....
What's LE waiting on?

If LE has no poi, the case is cold. IMO

I would be surprised if LE doesn't still have at least a couple of poi (unofficially of course.)

Unfortunately, lying is not proof that one is guilty of a crime. I am right where the rest of you are. I have been since Mr. P spoke about the 8 minutes. The thing to remember is that LE needs evidence. While it's reasonable to assume that whoever abducted the girls would have reason to lie, sometimes people do just lie. Maybe they are just sad and lonely and crave attention. It happens. .. loons come forward and even confess to crimes they didn't commit.

I don't think this case is anywhere close to being cold. But I do think LE needs that one piece of information or tip that can help them link one of their possible list of suspects to the actual crime.

If you go to Google Earth and zoom in a bit, you will see the Cedar Valley Nature Trail. It continues from Lafayette St down to Gilbert Drive, east along Gilbert past Grand Blvd, and then south again under the highway along the river to the west and across the river to the south. It runs for miles and passes close to Gilbertville.

And takes about 36 minutes to get from Meyers Lake to Gilbertville by bike on that trail. There is a place right by the trail down there to park and there are also houses fairly close by Gilbertville with Waterloo addresses.

I'm recalling Jaycee's abduction...those people didn't give a damn who saw them.

I keep thinking about that too. Her stepfather SAW the whole thing happen!

I'll probably get in hot water for this......

I've considered the possibility of a couple being out on the trail - one spouse possibly in a motorized wheelchair that is no longer working properly - and they ask for assistance pushing the wheelchair to where the other spouse has driven their van up on the trail. I think the two girls would be willing to help, and then were grabbed when close to the van. MOO.

This theory would explain EVERYTHING.

Except - it doesn't fit with KISS.

I am a firm believer that criminals will always look for the easy way.

I don't know how many mobility scooters were around that day but it sure would stick out...also perhaps be traceable.

I can't fathom two perps going so far to trap two kids, when they had no guarantee there would even BE any kids that day, let alone two of them.

One kid is far, far easier to abduct than two...in fact so much harder that I have never heard it done before in such circumstances.

IIRC, and can't remember where, it seems he did supposedly attempt to call the tip line earlier? I've gone through such... for many, it can be a confusing and assumed pile of "why bother?" Such would also be on record, I would think, even if the call ended prematurely.
Just expressing an opinion here, no proof any such thing applies to this individual.

Idk if TG attempted to call in, but the man with the white van from Casey's did. He ended up just going down to the station with his family because he didn't have any success calling IIRC.

They did admit her. She was at the hospital twice today. The first time, they released her. The second time, they put her in the ICU.

I think she was there twice yesterday (Monday). Today they said she was no longer there I believe. I just wondered if they would admit her to a psych hospital after they got her stable.

FYI, the 10pm newscast from KWWL-TV just covered Misty's being hospitalized. They mentioned some info that was new to me, but it looks like it had been reported earlier on their website. Here's an excerpt:

According to a police report, Misty was in a deep sleep and could not be woken up. Family members said she was at the hospital earlier in the day, heavily medicated, and later drank a large quantity of alcohol. She allegedly also took an unknown amount of her own prescribed medication.

The family also told officers she was threat to herself..
She was later admitted to the ICU.

Full article here: http://www.kwwl.com/story/19332348/mother-of-missing-evansdale-girl-hospitalized

This is indeed sad. I'm sure they had a psyche nurse speak with her, maybe even required. If pressured by family, they may advise hospitalization. One of the outspoken family members is not her dear, loving friend, imo. Seems she's always with that person when chit happens. Granted she may not feel a close to relationship to a certain therapist, but when broke, both emotionally and financially, having a crisis among the whole family and trying to beat a chronic, ongoing substance addiction...talking to someone about the basics of her feelings and problems would be a great option. She could have very well have died here, she can tweak her choices after there is a coherency in her thoughts to do so. There is a trust issue with MCM. Learned and self prophesying. Anyone wishing to help her will be scruinized by her. IMO I don't say this to bash her, it just....MOO. She's in trouble.

I always have a lot of faith in LE but questions are starting to be raised about the capabilities of the FBI.

There are so many missing kids in the last couple of years who have just disappeared, the FBI moves in, and that's the last you hear of it.

I really don't think its good enough. Your taxes are paying these people, in most cases there are very strong suspects but they are never so much as named as POI.

The suspects involved are not exactly rocket scientists either...surely nowhere near capable of pulling off a "perfect crime" and flummoxing the (arguably) worlds best investigation organisation, with all their technology and knowledge? Is it simply a matter of funding? What?

We wouldn't know...privacy and all that.

I bet they know on fb though...!

One thought, maybe he was going on a bike ride anyway since he normally does - maybe mostly on weekdays but not on weekends?? (total guess) - so he was on his Monday ride and decided to report it. Depending on how much publicity there was that first weekend, maybe he didn't even think it was a big deal until he saw all the LE there that Monday? IMO and I'm not even sure it's MO :) Just trying to think of ideas.

There was huge local publicity starting the evening of 13 July.

As I recall, someone on WS posted that TG called LE twice but felt they were not treating his tip seriously (a complaint Ollipop also made). I have been unable to come up with search terms to figure out the exact post, though.

So he decided to stop on his usual bicycle ride and talk to LE on the scene.

While I agree because calling makes more sense in most places I've lived, I've seen "going to the police station" referenced several times related to this case - Heather going to report the girls missing, Mr. G. to report seeing the bikes, and I could swear there was one more but I can't find it. It sounds like it may be more common to go in person instead of calling in E'dale than it is where I live.

I have always gone in person if it was something really important I needed to report. If I see a drunk driver on the road, I will call 911. But the only two times that I really needed to talk something over with LE, I went to my local station and talked face to face.

If I heard about the missing girls and thought I had seen their bikes I would have gone in person too.

^^^THIS.

What the.....?????

They've said over and over that small details are important in this one...

It just seems clumsy to have dummy bikes set up, to me anyway.

If you are a predator going hunting, why would you bother?

I'm recalling Jaycee's abduction...those people didn't give a damn who saw them.

That's because nobody knew who they were. The fact that this abductor took lengths to not be seen, suggests that he would be known.

Absolutely.

Whoever it was also knew that pathway, and that lake, very well, also.

Definitely indicates a local...which would also fit in with my theory as to how he/she got the girls away so quickly and quietly...they knew him/her and went willingly.

The lack of any BOLO or warnings tend to indicate LE feel this way too.

And it seems she needs Lyric. There is just so much sadness in this family, for various reasons.

There are other kids too right?

Lyric was not an only child?

I seem to recall a brother mentioned.

Stepbrother - he is DM's son, MCM's stepson. IIRC.

There is the possibility that the bikes he saw weren't the girls'. Especially if they were staged. We don't know how many kids live in the lake area who may have been out on their bikes in the am and thenwent home for lunch. If there were other kids out earlier in the day, I doubt parents would want to broadcast that info to the public and potentially the perp(s).

I agree.

There is also the possibility that he accidentally confabulated events from two different days. On some previous day, he had to swerve to avoid two bicycles on the trail. On 13 Friday, he made a call to his daughter at 12:27 pm.

By the time he heard about the two missing girls, his mind "collapsed" the two events into one.

I believe it was Katydid who posted about seeing a fatal car crash. She saw it was going to happen and observed the whole thing. She made a statement to LE at the scene of the accident and she had to go to court as an eyewitness. She had every reason to want to recall events accurately. She was 100% positive as to the accuracy of her memory of the events.

But when they showed the traffic cam footage in court, it proved that there were errors in her memory.

It is possible that, with the best intentions in the world, TG conflated two separate memories without realising it.
