They naturally do this.

Their tracking abilities are to enable the dog to find prey so they don't care where they prey has been, they care where it has gone, so they can catch it and eat it up.

A poster on here watched her (elderley) dog track the wrong way around...in my opinion this dog may well have the canine equivalent to alzheimers as this is totally against their natural instinct.

Regarding the dogs - it has been reported in msm that reporters and family actually watched the dogs track the scent to the wooded area.

I am of the opinion that the dogs MAY NOT have been tracking our girls at the time, but the perps scent.

There is no way outsiders can confirm it was actually the girls that the dogs were tracking when watched.

:moo:

Thanks for the correction about the dogs; I probably read that some dogs are trained to go from new to old rather than the other way. I sometimes feel like a canine equivalent to an alzheimer patient myself!

I've wondered since I first read about the dogs if there was anyone else (besides the girls and family who were there at the lake) who might have touched the scent items at some point. If the perp (or one of them) was familiar to the family, it could have been that person's scent the dogs picked up rather than the girls' if there was no more scent from the girls.

Maybe instead of trying to come up with the most likely suspect - we should look in the opposite direction and think who would be least likely do do this? Just a thought.

In my opinion, some people here have changed their theories simply because we are not allowed to talk about them. Not being able to express my theory does not mean that is not valid and I can't not keep the theory; it only means that I am not allowed to say it here.

I will say that it may have been going too far that direction with an extremely strong percentage of people jumping on board. I may have been guilty of instigating some of that and I was starting to feel bad and thinking that I might have started the crucifiction of an innocent witness. It is refreshing that we can talk about other possible scenarios and we may have needed the shot in the butt by the nurse. All of that said, I have to say that I unfortunately have yet to hear anything that has influenced a change in my theory. I'll keep trying.

Oh, and one more thing. I am also more convinced than ever before that Maiden Lane was NOT used. The video makes it pretty clear that any ordinary car or white van could not easily make it back there. <snipped for space>

BBM - but could a blue, black, red, or green van make it back there? ;)

In case the winking smiley isn't clear enough, I am kidding, and thank you for the thought. I agree it seems unlikely.

Does anyone know if the full FBI team is still on site / in town? How many agents are there? Are they staying at a hotel? (Not looking for the name of the hotel -- I'm just wondering if anyone knows for sure whether a big group of agents is still camped out in the area.)

How long does that typically last? I think we can officially call the case cold once the FBI packs up and goes back to their home offices.

How can so many perpetrators be this skilled.. Or this lucky to continue to successfully vanish these beautiful children?.. It's terrifyingly mind boggling.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the clarification of the FBI's "We believe the girls are alive" statement.

He also clarified FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault’s July 21 statement that “We believe the girls are alive.” Smock said investigators have no information to prove or disprove they are alive.

I wonder if they're concerned that people won't call in suspicious smells, ect.

The Courier article says there are FBI agents still there.

I hate to say it, but I think that LE/FBI had a theory that was heavily influenced by the family's history. I think the family is not involved, and I think myopia has prevented a wider field of thought on this case from the beginning. Maybe they ran through their budget too quickly. Probably tragic. MOO

Once again, words expressed with great class. And I haven't changed my theory either.:rocker:

I've read here and on other threads that different dogs behave differently, and even different breeds of dogs track differently. It seems to also depend on what they're trained for - air scenting, ground tracking, live person, cadaver, bomb sniffing, etc. Makes sense IMO. I don't have any personal experience or expert knowledge, I'm just interested in the topic.

Wow, I want to share because I just learned something I didn't know, yes, it off topic, sorry. I was on the other side of town, saw a bike being stolen, called LE, they knew exactly where I was even though I was on my cell phone in the car.. Amazing.

Okay MNDad, try this one.

I'll leave it to someone more creative than I am to come up with the reason the girls rushed to the lake and/or what/who they went to see. I don't really think it was a boy, but it could be. Anyway, once they get to the lake they start out going through the open gate and along the fence to get to the wooded area, but decided it was too hard to go that way (or someone motioned to them from the east end of the fence to come around that way instead,. TG rides by while they're out of sight on the lake side of the fence.

Elizabeth was concentrating so much on keeping her balance, and maybe carrying something besides just the purse, that she either didn't notice when she dropped it or decided she'd go back for it when they were done. They go back through the gate, they pick up the bikes and lean them against the fence on their way to the end. Once they get around the fence and pretty much out of sight, the person who had motioned them over contacts his/her partner who drives into the grassy area and parks, they all get in (either willingly or forced by the 2 or more perps), and drive away.

No but a vehicle could easily park next to the wooded area and not be noticed. I also think we need to stop with the white van theories because wanna bet, its a different type. Remember Ted Bundy and his volkswagon with the passenger seat missing. Some of his victims were next to his car before he knocked them out and pushed them in and took off.

I could not agree with you more there! I focused on a timeline, and perhaps others focused more on... "hints and allegations" (as the song goes) too far? I in no way meant to implicate a "known individual" at all, just a timing of things. I have a theory I cannot express in the thread, but such would - I'm sure - surprise 99%. I willingly follow rules, however. Pretty sure it would only cause further... confusion.

If you are going to insert TG into this scenario, then you have to get it to match the cctv timeline. MOO

I don't have to. Whether he went by or not really doesn't affect any of the rest. If you believe he imagined it, then just take that sentence out (I hadn't includeded it originally, but added it at the last minute.) I'm pretty flexible with my ideas, I've just been trying to come up with different ideas to give others a jumping off place.
