Or maybe reflecting his fear that when she comes back, that experience will have changed her.

Which is quite a realistic worry, it is bound to have changed her.

That's a very good point. Maybe that's why my first response to it was to feel sad, when I 'expected' to feel like "oh no, he knows she's no longer alive." Even in the absolute best possible scenario I can think of, the experience will have changed her.

When I was new here (month ago) I used to get frustrated with the off topic conversations and now I instigated one. One of two things has happened (or both). 1) I feel more comfortable with everyone and consider everyone here my anonymous friends or 2) I no longer have anything of value to add to the conversation that is on topic.

I vote for (1).

Repost. Rereading this article makes me think that maybe LE did get some info. or evidence early on, leading them to Black Hawk County.
http://thegazette.com/2012/07/17/fa...sitive-in-search-for-missing-evansdale-girls/
Officials said that the search expanded further into Black Hawk County on Tuesday, with K9 units from various agencies, including the FBI units, scanning the area for any trace of a scent.

Abben said tips have come in that led police to areas outside of Evansdale, but he declined to be specific or talk about any results.

“Every tip is being followed up on,” said Abben, who again encouraged anyone with information to call the tip hotline.

He also declined to talk about the results of any tracking dogs that have been used during the search or what investigators have been able to tell from the abandoned bicycles.

“The bikes have been processed,” Abben said. As for the results of any fingerprinting, Abben said he would just “leave it at that.”

I can see cindersroot, windows down, left arm hanging out, cap pulled low over her eyes...slowly cruising past Mr. C's house, eyes scanning the cars in the driveway, the flowerbeds... looking for movement from behind the blinds when Mr. C suddenly pops out of the bushes armed with his water hose, only to catch a brief profile as she speeds off with a screech of her tires and a puff of exhaust! :takeoff:

(You know, like the big bug on the exterminator commercial.)

This can't be OT 'cause cindersroot is doing this for real, right?

:floorlaugh: ohhh the visual!!!!

I was being a little sarcastic, but I'm like you, I don't pay much attention to it, either.

I posted this awhile back but I saw a short interview on t.v. with the former superintendant of schools in a big town close to where I live recently, who said something like working for the school district had been a "very rewarding experience for my family and I." That stunned me... a college educated superintendant, FGS! It should have been for "my family and me."

Little trick to use to determine if it's correct is to drop the one noun, and if it doesn't sound right to say, "for I" then you know to use "me."

It also sounds wrong to me to hear someone say "for myself" but I don't know if that's improper or just my thinking. I'm smart, but not that smart. :floorlaugh:

That, and referring to themselves as myself when it should just be me or I.

One more quick OT on this subject (since we seem to have a lot of pet lovers on this thread):

BBM - while I agree with you completely, apparently people do. That's how the guy I mentioned got his puppy in the first place. Group of guys walking through his neighborhood with a wagon full of pitbull puppies and a for sale sign. I don't know if they were drumming up money for drugs or just money in general. It was sad, the puppies were way too young to be away from their mom - I would guess his pup was maybe 5 weeks old. She was adorable but she couldn't eat solid food yet and would suckle on your fingers or toes. Guess the 'breeders' needed the money or got tired of taking care of the pups. And yes, I do think the guy was insane for buying a dog under those circumstances but it happens.

ETA: just in case it comes across negatively I wanted to clarify I have no problem with pitbulls. They just happen to be the dog I hear about the most often in this type of scenario, particularly in the not so great areas of town around here.

Yes, I realize some people do that, I guess I was thinking of a mature dog. People used to park on the Wal Mart parking log and sell or give away puppies and kittens, until a city ordinance was passed and now they can't do that anymore.
I guess I just have a hard time imagining someone getting enough money from a dog or a puppy to buy drugs, they would have to be purebred to get much out of them around here. If it's a cross between 2 breeds, maybe 50 bucks.
I've heard that some addicts will sell their own kids, though, so I'm not surprised.

^^^^YES!!

And it all happened the same weekend. The weekend of (I think) the 20th. JW was put in jail for 48 hours, Misty and Dan went to a hotel, got aggressively questioned, then lawyered up, then un-lawyered up. The last press conference was held 2 days later. Then the interview footage from that weekend was subpoenaed and the surveillance video was released....then............NOTHING. :maddening:
And a video was finally released, causing at least some confusion over "timelines." Yes, I am still on that timeline. <lol> Something is sooo off here!

Hi, I have been trying to shake off the same feeling only it keeps creeping back in.
I do not know what police officer or spokesperson goes on T.V.
and tell us that they still believe that they are alive unless The y have a DANG
good lead and some type of proof to go on.
They never say that at the most they would say
We have hope or we pray for a safe return.

I thought I was just being me and over reacting on this.
Thank you for your post to let me know that I am not alone!
This whole family is so messed up you do not know where to look.
How many more people out of this buch is going to get into trouble tonight?

I know how you feel daisy!

That image is hilarious!!! The adventures of Cindersoot. LMAO

ETA: With the cell phone taped to her forehead...LOL

Wasn't cindersoot planning to ride a bicycle? Mrs. C could be armed with a leftover newspaper for a weapon, as well. The mental image THERE has me thoroughly frightened! LOL
