I don't think there is any mystery, they met the perp, planned. JMO

So what are you thinking about everything now that you were there again? What is your gut telling you may have happened? Did today sway your thoughts one way or another? Or did being there add to the mystery?

Good questions!

My gut feeling is the girls went thru the gate for a boat ride, but was taken by the perp throught the woods to a vehicle. I also now still think they rode the bike path off Lafayette st straight to the lake or past Carpenters house then to the lake. I mean 9 minutes from Elizabeths house to the lake is easy.

Perhaps they saw someone pretending to be struggling with the boat and rushed to help him. Perhaps it was a familiar face they were excited to see.

Thank you Cindersoot for 'walking the walk' or in this case riding the bike to get those shots.
The feeling I got looking at the photos was oddly unsettling , everything seemed kind of creepy and sad...

Maybe the boat wasn't even used, I just thought thats why the scent and purse was by the water.

You know standing there at the gate entrance, I looked across the lake which by the way can be swan in three minutes across if that, and that green large paddle boat is still there.

First, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to capture the scene and share the photos with us. It is very helpful in visualizing the area.

When you say "across", do you mean the paddleboat that is parked one house away from the house that is for sale, or do you mean the paddleboat at the large house across the lake, near the parking lot? Is that a photo of the parking lot and do you know what type lens you have on the camera?

I'm curious about how big the parking lot looks when you're standing near the double gate. Could you recognize faces, or determine age, of people on the other side of the lake at the parking lot?

These paddleboats are yellow and white ... where was the green one?

The dogs caught their scent into the woods, I wonder how far? He had to of subdued them maybe, then carried them to a vehicle. Or he had an accomplist (SIC). Would their scent be in the air as they were carried?

Oh Otto, that big house with all the windows is there. I never really noticed it before. Until today.

There is DEFINITELY a green paddleboat there somewhere. In one of the early interviews with Anderson Cooper, you can see it behind Misty and Dan as they talk. Gave me the creeps.

The only paddleboat I saw today was a green one and it was not at the house for sale but to the left of it ( as I was looking from the gate side of the lake). The camera is my cell phone. The very large house had a man outside by the lake cutting up and burning his boat dock, I could see him from the gate, he didn't notice me I don't think. Standing by the gate looking at the parking lot looks kinda far away.

If they rode the Evansdale Nature Trail from Lafayette to the SE tip of Meyers Lake, wouldn't Lake Avenue be an unusual detour? I doubt they would have ridden their bikes across the grass, given how creepy the area is to pretty much everyone.

ETA: nevermind ... it was at the house next to the house that is for sale.

The bike trail leads straight to the gate part, you don't go thru any grass..

Did you photograph him burning his dock? Was he destroying evidence or was it an old dock?

Thanks. So it sounds like a boy standing at the parking lot fishing would not necessarily notice anything happening near the double gate.

But why would the girls take a detour along Lake Avenue? Wouldn't that detour make a mess of the 9 minute timeline? It's about 7 extra blocks to go from the trail, down Lake Avenue and back to the trail.

I don't think he was destoying evidence, he could of done that along time ago, and since it's lake clean up day I think that was innocent, jmo. But from where the gate is, oh no, no way would anyone see anything happening from the parking lot. No if your at the front of the lake (parking lo) NO you wouldn't see anything, unless you had binoculars.

I'm going to try to combine parts of different theories (mine and/or others') and see if I can make any sense of things. If it doesn't make a lot of sense, it's probably because I'm writing while I'm trying to think, and I may get things mixed up or change direction mid-stream.

First the who - I'd say 2 or more with at least one who lives in Evansdale or visits someone there often, 30-45 years old (old enough to make detailed plans and possibly experience carrying them out, but young enough to be fairly physically fit), works nights or works four 10 hour days, and another works in Evansdale but has a lunch break at the time of the disappearance, any others could do either.

When - I think the actual abduction was close to 12:30.

Where - at the lake, in/by the wooded area

How - First one perp is dropped off near where the green paddleboat is and it's taken to the SE corner of the lake in a fairly well-hidden spot. If there are only 2 perps, one goes to talk to the girls while the after the boat is moved, if there are 3 or more, one goes to talk to them while the others move it. The one who talks to them is familiar to them - possibly the parent/aunt/uncle/whatever of a friend/neighbor, a family friend, or just someone that has been seen many times and probably spoken to a few times. He (or she) invites them to go for a quick paddleboat ride, and tells them to go the jetty (a description of the area) and thet he/she will go make sure WC is okay with it.

While they ride their bikes on one of the routes, the perp drives on another and meets up with the other/s. When the girls get to the jetty, they go through the gates and see the "friend" off a ways with the paddleboat. They start to go over there on the lake side of the fence, but decide it's too hard. Elizabeth drops her purse, but Lyric tells her it'll be safe there and they hav to hurry if they don't want grandma to be mad. They go back through the gates, run down to the end of the fence and over to the wooded area. Instead of giving them a ride, they are grabbed and put in a vehicle. One person brings the paddleboat back and is picked up close to there (in case they left any evidence, the boat won't be a flag showing people where to look).

This part is probably really dumb, but it makes sense to me (even though it also makes things a lot more complicated.) Once all of this is done, who ever is on a break from work returns, anyone else leaves and goes to wherever they planned to take the girls. If they work nights, they prepare to go to work, and the other person/people will go supervise the girls after work so they have little or no time alone. If they work 4 day weeks, they can take them to a "vacation" spot and wait for the other/s to get there after work.

That would give them all weekend to pass the girls on, or whatever they had planned, and at least one person could go volunteer to search for them in case they did accidentally leavve anything behind.

Maybe getting off the bike trail and heading west on Gilbert to Lake Ave is the way they knew to get to the lake. Maybe it is the way they had gone before or the way E's friends/neighbors showed her how to get there. Maybe they did go down Lake and cut thru the grassy area off Arbutus (next to the wooded area). Maybe they planned on meeting someone there who told them to park their bikes at the gate and go thru it for a boat ride. Then they walked them thru the shoreline and woods to a vehicle. Or they walked them back down the trail and thru woods or grassy area to a vehicle.

You can get off the bike trail and go past carpenters house and then a block down turn left to the lake entrance.
