And I don't know what path they took. My theory has always been the easiest way was the bike trail. I took it today and it took me 9 minutes. I would think they took it because it goes past the skate park (which I saw) and there were kids there. They probally knew that bike path well.

Which did you do in 9 minutes Cinder?

#1. Get off the trail and head west on Gilbert to the parking lot at the lake and then around the lake to the SE corner?

#2. Or did you stay on the bike path all the way and then head west on the path (parallel to Arbutus) and go past the grassy area and wooded area?

And how do you know they didn't meet the perp at the entrance? And then go to the gate? jmo

Do you mean parking lot when you say entrance? If you're suggesting that the children met the perp in the parking lot, then wouldn't he have done a quick grab right there? ... no need to waste time going to the other side of the lake and back to the parking lot.

How do we believe Mr.C's time frame?

We don't. The girl he saw rode past his house every evening and spoke to people on the street. That isn't consistent with what the family has said.

Also in Iowa our city blocks are not very big. Maybe someone here from Iowa can clarify.

Unless he parked over by Arbutus or Maiden Lane. And said hey meet me on the other side by that jetty and we can go for a boat ride. Then no one would see him take them.

A couple of the blocks from the trail to Lake Avenue are short, but Lake Avenue isn't a short block.

I've never actually seen the place, but in my mind the easiest way to go there and pass the C's house on the way would be to take Evans down and turn left on Gilbert. The only problem with that is that there may be a lot of stop signs and/or traffic lights going that way.

I rode from Collins house to Lafayette street, took a left to the bike trail straight to the gate where the bikes were found. But if you were to get off the bike trail and get on Gilbert past Carpenters house then to the lake ( which I did also later), it still would be close, because it's still the same distance either or. Give or take a few minutes, maybe.

I know! But on the bike trail I NEVER stopped.

I doubt that the girls know Arbutus or Maiden Lane ... or the gate, for that matter. Children seem a bit oblivious to street names until they start driving. Also, why take them to the drainage pipe for an imaginery boat ride when he can simply abduct them when he's supposedly telling them to meet him at some other location?

Giving or taking a few minutes presents a problem with including the cyclist's tip.

Maybe he didnt want to be seen walking with them and they had their bikes so he said you girls ride over there (obscured / out of sight) and I will get the boat and meet you. Maybe he was trying to get them closer to his vehicle and away from public view.

Imagine that you were riding beside a 65 pound, 4'1" eight year old girl on a BMX bike. Would you still be riding that fast?

But if they were at his vehicle when he supposely told them to meet him somewhere else so he could more easily abduct him ... I don't get it. It would be far easier to abduct the girls right there and then rather than have them walk their bikes to the lake and then lure them back to the vehicle without the bikes. It seems far too complicated ... unnecessarily complicated.

OK. .. I'm just going to say it. I sleuthed someone. I believe they were even referred to as a person of interest. . .I know they said "not a witness, but may have information." I'm not implying this person is the perp. This person had. . key word "had". . .social media pictures from a back yard that sat next to the vacant house. I never could quite figure out if it was to the left or right. . .because by the time I realized that might be important, the pics were gone.

I have to say, after seeing the interview with Mr.C, I find him credible. I do believe that Elizabeth frequently rode that area on her bike and quite possibly talked it up with people in that area.

Anyway, it opens up a LOT of possibilities for me. Hypothetically speaking, what if the girls destination was a house in that corner of the lake? What if that house conveniently had easy access to all these areas of interest in that SE corner of Meyers Lake?

yes!

...so the girls would literally stage their own bikes unknowingly then deliver themselves on foot. uuugghhh. so upsetting.

Has a black Chevy pickup ever been mentioned in anything? Just wondering.

No, I said if he parked over by Arbutus/Maiden. So if the perp met them in the parking lot of the lake and wanted to get them closer to his vehicle away from public view. He says ride over there by the jetty and I will get the boat and meet you. They head over (around the west side of the lake via path) and he creeps back toward his vehicle by possibly walking down Evans and then to the shore by the last house ( next to wooded area) or he goes in the wooded area and says 'girls over here'. They set purse down and walk along shoreline and he gets them in his vehicle. Or he says my car is right there I need help carrying the boat... or whatever... I could go on and on. The possibilities are endless.
