Cinder, it seems like it has. I too today went on a mission to find out something locally in a way and it's not worth not being able to talk about it with others. Good job btw.

Cinder, you don't need to apologize for anything! I am really grateful for what you did today. You're probably tired after the road trip.

The dogs caught their scent into the woods, I wonder how far? He had to of subdued them maybe, then carried them to a vehicle. Or he had an accomplist (SIC). Would their scent be in the air as they were carried?

Yes.

But scent up high seems to wear off faster than scent on the ground, strictly in my NOT expert opinion. My theory is that scent waist high or higher is more exposed to the elements than scent on the ground or knee high.

Motive, motive, motive.

Two girls taken DOES NOT fit with a sexual motive.

The planning and execution DOES NOT fit with a random abductor.

The staging of the bikes also DOES NOT fit with a random abduction.

Means, motive, opportunity. Who had all three?

Not a paddleboater, a cyclist, another child.

:moo:

A bully, who was old enough to drive, and who may have panicked if something got out of hand.

So in your opinion, do you think the dogs could of caught the girls scent on the perp, say if he carried them?

If they rode the Evansdale Nature Trail from Lafayette to the SE tip of Meyers Lake, wouldn't Lake Avenue be an unusual detour? I doubt they would have ridden their bikes across the grass, given how creepy the area is to pretty much everyone.

SBM

As a kid, weren't you attracted to places that had a scary vibe? I know I was. There was a house a few blocks away that was the subject of an inheritance dispute that had gone on for 30 years between two cousins and even though it was for sale, no one would buy it because the title would be in doubt.

Of course there were stories handed down from kid generation to kid generation about how the place was haunted or maybe it was cursed or maybe something happened there that was so gruesome that no one could ever sleep there at night. Or something like that, the stories were limited only by our imaginations (this was before Stephen King).

A common dare and exploit amongst us kids was to creep up to that house and use the knocker. Then wait for a count of whatever seemed impossibly brave and bold.

A spot like that place on the trail at Meyer's Lake would have been a kid magnet in my day! "I dare you to ride to the woods at Meyer's Lake, get off your bike and push it until you get to the jetty!"

I never thought it was a "random" abduction. Nor have I thought this would have a sexual motive.
All too often, people focus on what they feel is the 'most obvious,' but there could be numerous reasons for an abduction like this.

I think if the perp had the girl's scent on them, the dog or dogs would follow their scent to a point? jmo (I'm just a common sense person or totally wrong)

I just wish LE would say someting anything to the media. Because i feel if they don't it will be forgotten fast. Geez.

Cinder, PM me with what you have on this guy and I'll pass it on to my son. He's got connections over there. My son is a correctional officer. The last one that went missing here my son pulled out of a frozen ditch about a mile or two from the bar he left. Friends who gave him a ride dumped him off on a country road in the middle of a blizzard and the dude was so drunk he laid down in a ditch and froze to death.

Does no one but me think LE have already eliminated the witnesses?

I'd like to think they're a lot more competent than most of us seem to be giving them credit for being - including me at times. It's just hard to come up with any suspects if you don't know anyone in the area, and only know of people that have most likely been ruled out (or are suspected by LE and being monitored.)

Dr Know what's you take on all this? I see you on here. It's been a while! I thought Whisperers was following this case? She's the one who got me started reading this thread since its in my backyard here.

A couple of witnesses naive enough to speak to the media, now they're being accused of committing the crime.

Insanity.

Just because we have a name, doesn't mean they are suspects!

Tell ya what... one of the things I can thank WebSleuths for is opening my eyes to the dangers of talking to the media. If I ever have info on a crime I'd go to LE of course, but the media? Now, no way.

Snow, I hadn't seen Whisp on this thread but maybe I just missed her.

I thought I had this narrowed down and then ta-dah, another name pops up. Working it though!

Big question for you guys. Who if anyone is your prime suspect? Don't get in the naughty chair.

I think the perp is probably male or (much lower likelihood) a male/female couple.

In my opinion, the perp is someone who used to live in or near Evansdale but moved away at least a year ago. I think the perp still lives within a 60 mile radius of Evansdale. In fact, the perp may simply have moved to some other part of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls metro area.

The perp has a job that left Friday normal business hours open. The perp may work evenings or nights or has flexible days. I don't think the perp called in sick or traded shifts in order to go looking for a victim.

If the perp had some connection to Elizabeth or Lyric, it was an incidental connection. Saw one or both of them in a store or just playing outside. I doubt that the family knows the perp's full name, the connection isn't that close, in my opinion.

I think the perp found the spot and then waited for the victim or victims, rather than finding the girls and devising an abduction plan.

I think the perp lives in a free standing house rather than an apartment or zero lot line house.

If the perp is ever caught, I think LE will find a ton of pix of unidentified children at public places like parks, malls, swimming pools, etc. I think it is less likely that the perp will have obvious child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on their computer.

I think it is important not to name someone that could potentially be innocent, but I also think it is important to consider all angles. I think witnesses should not feel that they should suppress what they see in fear of being attacked or accused, but I also feel that someone claiming to be a witness does not automatically exclude them from possible suspicion. We all want the same thing and none of us want the thread shut down, but we should all be allowed to share our thoughts as long as it doesn't violate TOS. At this point, none of us our right and none of us our wrong. <modsnip>
