Ok so we have plea deals going on already.

A plea deal usually occurs when there is bigger fish to fry.

A minor player gets a plea bargain in exchange for information about the major players.

Does this imply there was ALREADY an undercover investigation ongoing in Evansdale, with a drug cartel as its main focus?

An undercover investigation which may be at risk from a secondary investigation?

Again, thinking out loud.

I am referring specifically to this from Foxbluffs post -

David Mullin, a defense attorney for Jason Stolfus, who was arrested with Morrissey and faces the same charges, said the prosecutor told him Morrissey’s plea agreement "fell through." He said police reports show Morrissey implicated his client in crimes after both were arrested in December. But he said Stolfus would not have a motive to take the children because he has been offered a favorable plea deal in which he would likely avoid prison.

We already know Dan's is off the table, and here's another one.

There obviously IS ongoing investigations into the drug scene, with ongoing plea deals for MULTIPLE players.

I'm looking at the bigger picture here.

Are multiple plea deals indicative that LE are getting closer to the big fish?

Are the girls somehow victims due to this other investigation?

I was very curious about that large vacant space in the corner. On Google from the street view it looked to be a pawn shop. I don't know if that is more or less current than your info of it being vacant.

Just from my personal experience, pawn shops seem to attract a seedy crowd. There is one not to far from where I live and I see lots of tweaker scrapper types there. I don't know if this one is still there and attracts those types, but it was just a thought.

I didn't know there was a boys and girls club there. That might be something a non-local creeper might be drawn to. . .kind of like a school or park, where kids are known to hang out.

ETA. . .there is also a building that is west on Brovan from the auction house that raises my interest. it looks to be vacant. I saw it on a real estate sight as being for lease. It seems like it would be set up for some type of shop business. I'd be interested to know if it's been leased, especially around the time the girls went missing.

Being abducted by a pedophile is extremely rare, but those of us in WS can list at least a dozen or more cases in the past couple of years...
Being abducted due to drug case testimony, drug case retribution, drug dealers gone crazy mad at the children of their colleagues... Hmmm... Not so much.

Thank you to Considering for identifying the names of each of the businesses in the Evansdale strip mall. I have mapped them below.

The reason for doing this is that there is the possibility that someone befriended the two girls prior to their abduction. It's possible that this happened around the strip mall, as that is where their grandmother last saw them riding their bikes. I got the impression from interviews with their grandmother that it was quite common for them to ride the loop around the mall and then back to their street.

Theories about Lyric being abducted due to Lyric's parents' drug use seem to completely exclude the fact that Elizabeth was also kidnapped (she has no connection to drugs) and that this happened close to Elizabeth's home.

RSBM, I agree! I think if only one girl was the target then it was Elizabeth. But if Elizabeth was the sole target, then the perp must have known that Lyric was also a child despite her size in order to proceed with the plan. If indeed, this was a planned abduction.

Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook disappear on Friday, July 13 in Evansdale, Oiwa. There is no trace of them after they were seen at the cormer of Ellmer and Gilbert at about 1 in the afternoon. Their bikes were found nearby at a secluded area of Meyes Lake.

Lyric was 10 year old. I can't imagine that an adult male would be confused about the age of young girls when he was abducting 8 year old Elizabeth near her home.

I would agree. There was something about this case that jumped out of the headline ... something that would not be resolved for a long time, it seemed ... right from the beginning.

It seems to me that there is a really creepy, whacked out wing nut in the woods near Evansdale ... some guy that play acts being a good guy.

I mean like a wing nut that lives comfortably most of the time but is a bit hyper. Who are the hyper freaks in Evansdale? The guy that did this was hyper afterward.

That's an interesting thought. I think you are right, the guy who did this was probably pretty juiced up afterwards.

I wouldn't restrict it to just Evansdale or even just the Waterloo/Cedar Falls municipal area. I think there's a chance that whoever did this moved away from Evansdale, probably within the last 1-3 years.

He may also have gone through some sort of stressful event, such as the break up of a long term relationship or being laid off or fired. I'm basing this on the theory that many sex offenders are triggered by stressful life events (which is often but not always true).

I drove through E-dale today twice to take my son to and from a Dr's appt in Iowa City..
I wonder if they checked the lake where the waterhawks ski team practices....

Also on the other side of the Cedar River, is some rail road tracks with LOTS of parked trains.. i wonder if our poor girls were stuffed into a rail car....
