Rest in Peace beautiful souls. :( I am so upset and sad to read this tonight - I know many of us are. Lyric and Lizzie we may not know you, but we miss you. I hope you left this earth without too much pain or suffering.

Bodies left in the open often mummify.

Which means the animals would ignore them.

I would agree with that, except Iowa was very hot and humid this summer. But than again, we don't know how long the bodies were there and Iowa has not had a lot of rain.

This is so sad. These beautiful innocent little girls. My prayers to the families and loved ones in the tough days ahead. :grouphug:

To be a serial killer they have to kill three or more and do each murder at different times.

We know we have a double murderer on the loose.

imo

Thanks for clarifying, I thought more than one was a serial. Thanks

That is usually if they are placed in direct sunlight and it takes awhile for a body to dry out completely. Often woods are shaded all over with very little sun getting through the trees. It is filled with all sorts of animal activity too.

imo

Yes, it is...I don't know how to do the google map to copy it here. Google 7 bridges park bremer county iowa and you will see the map. You can see where that lane goes allllll the way up the side of that field and actually the trees are full so you can't see how far up that lane actually goes. It's one lane in and out...you could be there all damn day at the end of that lane and no one would probably ever know unless someone drove down there as there are no houses close enough to see anything going on.

It is a camping area though (primitive my husband believes...so maybe no power?) so it wouldn't be unlikely for a camper/people to be down there in July.

Sounds a lot like Maiden Lane by Meyer's Lake. Long lane, cars can't be seen from the nearest heavily travelled roads when they are at the end of the lane, covered by trees.

Now that there is a known second crime scene, it will be easier to find the perp, I hope.

Wooded areas, to me, suggest a greater likelyhood of animal predation in addition to how the elements would affect decomp rates.

You are quite welcome.:)

LOL! So did I cinder at one time.

Its a process of learning as you go when keeping up with crime.

If a person should kill three people or more at one time then they are called mass murders or sometimes spree killers if they did not know the victims.

IMO

I think so too and sometimes the ground will hold more moisture since the sun cant get through to dry it out fully. That will also create a problem with insect infestation.

What a sad ending this truly is.

Families forever changed.:(

I'm glad these girls have finally been found. I hope justice can now be served. I have to wonder if the perp is someone whom we've discussed or if it's a completely new player.

If some of you heard "divers" listening to the press conference, there is a possibility that the hunters were on the waters edge and the girls were found in the water? If so that would preserve their bodies a little longer. Guess we have to wait.

Just saw an article on CNN saying these girls may have been found and shot right over here to see what was going on in WS land and what all the talk was, if there was a perp, etc. You all usually know much more than MSM articles!

"Hunters May have Found Missing Iowa Cousins"

So sorry that this may be Lyric and Elizabeth, but at least their families will have the closure they deserve.

If you would like to locate Seven Bridges Park, find Readlyn, IA. It's about 3 miles east, then 3 miles south of Readlyn. You will need to zoom/satelite the area. (It's just west of Wapsie Ridge Golf Course.) Sure looks remote.

Deer prefer edge habitat, on the edge between wooded areas and open areas. Judging by the satellite photos of Bremer County, it looks like the sort of place where there are lots of deer. So does the fact that the quota for antlerless deer is 1000 in Bremer County, which is pretty high for northern Iowa.

Okay, who am I fooling? Deer most prefer GARDENS. And they love pulling up and eating the prettiest or most expensive stuff in the garden, then they like to browse the shrubs and young trees to death. But aside from gardens, they prefer edge habitat.

BBM

:floorlaugh: That is so true! Thanks for making me laugh. I really needed to pull my mind out of some dark thoughts, and you were the one to do it.

so, why did LE say no one else was in danger at the time?
If it is in fact the girls and they were murdered, I would quite concerned.

I just caught the last couple minutes on JVM so forgive me as all I heard was they think they found the girls bodies. IMO the suspect is either dead OR is in custody for another crime, possibly confessed but did not give the exact location of the bodies?

Like many of you, I have long suspected someone associated w/ DM's shady past and someone local. Now, I'm not so sure. Even though they were found close by, it very well could have been someone passing through. Like one of these two animals... The guy that killed Samantha Koenig in Alaska who recently committed suicide. He also confessed to at least 7 other murders across the US before killing himself and they did not name all of his victims. The other I've always wondered about is the photographer (Jesse Spiers I think) that kidnapped the young girl in Montana, sexually assaulted her and left her in the mountains. Hunters found her alive and he was caught. There was discussion on her thread that there were a few time lapses of posts on his blog where he said he would be traveling to unknown destinations to take photographs - as he posted prior to his road trip when he kidnapped the Montana girl. As I recall, one of the those times was around the time the girls disappeared and after. It was said that he had a ton of photos of nude young girls in his vehicle.

Just my thoughts... and I do apologize if all of this has been mentioned or somehow ruled out. I have not had a chance to catch up prior to posting.

RIP baby girls :(

ETA: Sorry, Israel Keyes abducted/murdered Samantha Koenig in Alaska. Jesse SPEER was arrested in Montana for the kidnapping/assault on the girl in Cody Wyoming (I'm not naming her here because of her age).
