Well this is just awful. The worst outcome possible.

I haven't followed this case as closely as some of you have but bless all of you who didn't give up on these two beautiful girls.

I haven't posted on this case in a while but when I saw the headline on foxnews I had to stop in. How heartbreaking, I hope there is some kind of evidence linking this directly to someone.

"It's definitely not the outcome that we wanted, obviously," Abben said, appearing to fight back tears during a news conference in Evansdale. "This is a difficult thing for us to go through. It's a difficult thing for the community."

He said the bodies were being sent to the state medical examiner's office to confirm their identities.

Authorities had asked hunters to look for the girls in the region during this fall's popular deer hunting season.

Abben said the bodies were discovered around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, but refused to say where, saying the area was still being processed as a crime scene and could not be compromised.

"Preservation of that scene is paramount," he said.

Elizabeth's mother, Heather Collins, told ABC News' Alex Perez in July that the wait for the girls to reappear was an agonizing one.

"A day doesn't seem like a normal day," Collins said. "It's just like it doesn't stop. It keeps dragging and dragging. You're just waiting for a time to go up to your room. You're just waiting, waiting, waiting."

So devastated by this news this morning. Those poor little girls were just out doing what all children should be able to do without worry or risk. If this does turn out to be them, I hope LE have some direction as to who may be responsible for this.

The first I have heard about this is today.

Could someone give a quick run down. From the little I read on FB I got the impression of no foul play ? Now reading here it seems I was way off :(

bodies were found in the Seven Bridges Wildlife Area located about 21 miles from Evansdale (I think) by hunters in a wooded area. LE is preserving the scene and combing for evidence. Definitely foul play is suspected. Those girls did not get there on their own or by accident.

Bodies are at ME to try to determine manner and time of death.

Presser today at 4 perhaps more details will be forthcoming then.

Hope that helps Davia18

you know, I was thinking, when the volunteers were out looking, was that area where the girls were found part of the search area? If it was, I would want to look at who the volunteers were that searched in that area. Quite often the perpurtrator (sp?) comes back and may have "steered" people away from the dump site.... just thought I'd throw it out there.. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these beautiful babies. They're coming home :*(

glad to see you posting on this maryml. I do think the perp will be discovered to have been at some of the vigils or participated in searching for the girls. Hiding right there in plain sight. :(

I do not know if that area specifically is one that was searched by organized search efforts.

These two deaths were NO accident.

Read the link right below your post.

Yes, it's awful. But, the worst outcome would be to never know what became of these two children.

Prayers are with the family and law enforcement.

Such sad news to wake up to this morning! I haven't followed this case too much, so I don't know any of the information about potential perps & whatnot, but if they were no longer with us, I am relieved to know their bodies have [most likely] been found. Hopefully it's a start in bringing justice to these two sweet girls. As we know around here, so many bodies go undiscovered for so long & murderers get away with way too much. Hopefully this case will be different and the person responsible will be arrested soon. Assuming that these are them... RIP Elizabeth & Lyric!!

Community heartbroken over bodies' discovery

8:53 AM, Dec 6, 2012

Excerpt: "Residents in Dunkerton, about 15 miles northeast of Evansdale, expressed shock and heartbreak at the news that the bodies may have been found in a county park off a gravel road just outside their city.

Seven Bridges County Park remained closed to the public this morning, though a state patrolman blocking the entrance to the park declined to say why."
