Is that a cut cornfield? When was it cut? If the bodies were found in or near that field, they were placed there AFTER the field was cut (maybe in the Fall) IMO.

I wonder if the searchers are looking for something in particular, like a weapon, cell phone, clothing, etc.

I believe this photo is of the area leading into the park where the bodies were found.

They are searching along the road leading in. MOO

yes, that is a cut cornfield, but that is not where the bodies were apparently found. if you look closely, you can see a road with cornfields on either side. that is the road that runs to the entrance of the wildlife area (or park).

my guess is items of possible clothing that wasn't with the bodies or any other evidence or possibly even a weapon.

Snipped

Investigators from several agencies were working in the tree-covered area, which is intersected by the Wapsipinicon River and is popular for hunting and fishing.

"I would call it more of a secluded area," said Bremer County Sheriff Dewey Hildebrandt. "But it does get regular visits from people that like to use the outdoors."

Snipped

In the park were white sheets at two spots bout 50 feet apart, according to a KCRG reporter. The sheets are close to one of the bends in the river. Vehicles in a parking lot/clearing are close by.

I sure hope they find something that will lead them to the scum that did this to these darling girls :furious:

Having been able to identify them so quickly leads me to believe they were some how identifiable without having to use dna or dental records. Clothing maybe? Or they may not have been out there the entire time.

Interesting question RNER..do they still burn off corn stubble in IA? I lost a relative that way. It would have destroyed a lot of evidence, if it was in the fields. We need clarification on what they are looking for, and relation to body location.

Anything.

By the way, I would like to give props to anyone/everyone who said back in July the girls would be found after the harvest. Not the outcome we wanted, but very clear sighted.

This is certainly news I didn't want to hear, but expected all along. Now I hope that they can quickly identify a cause of death, and that it points to a motive other than sexual abuse. I have thought all along that they were taken as retribution for Dan being a "snitch" (Wilma Cook's word). For me, now that we have confirmation they are deceased, the best outcome would be if it is apparent they were shot execution style shortly after being kidnapped. (Skull injuries, no foreign DNA on their clothes, wearing the clothes they were abducted in.) It is still AWFUL, but somehow a little tiny bit less awful than if they were taken by a pedophile.

I agree completely with everything you said.

I have never felt there was a sexual aspect to this terrible abduction. I think the girls were taken for a specific purpose, planned in advance rather than spur-of-the moment, driven to a predetermined location, and killed shortly after they went missing. JMO. I also think the person who did this returned after killing the girls and participated in vigils, searches, etc. Again JMO.

Whether my theory turns out to be correct, or just a bunch of pig poop, doesn't change the dreadful fact that something happened to Lizzie and Lyric that should never have happened.

And I hope the perpetrator(s) experience swift and certain justice.

no...that field has been harvested. this is what is left after harvest. also makes for a good hunting area as there will be all kinds of critters that like to eat the corn that stays in the field after harvesting, like deer, pheasants, wild turkey, etc

I am taking from the reports that the bodies were found in the wooded area up the road from this cornfield. however it has been common to find evidence in ditches along roads like this that has been chucked out of a car window.

Thanks Sweetpea..yes, it's been harvested. Great place for hunting here in NC as well. Just remembered about the burning and turning the earth after harvest, and thought a good way to destroy evidence. I'm sure they are searching any and all roads leading into the area, but more closely the less traveled access road, since the girls were near the river.

Has there been as much rain as usual there? Is there a season that often floods the banks? If the bridges are washed out..

I imagine LE is not only scouring the immediate area where bodies were found for evidence, but also the road and adjacent fields to the most likely entry point to the woods that the pep(s) may have used to get the bodies there.
