Abben said the area was not searched that far in. That irks me.

That's not what I heard him say. When asked about whether the area had been searched, he stated that Bremer County searched but he wasn't sure how far in they searched. He didn't, IIRC, state that the area where the girls were found had not been searched.

I assume this search by Bremer County took place shortly after the girls disappeared, but I'm not certain about that.

It was not searched in the official publicised earches but there were posters on Facebook who spoke in july about how they wanted to searh there and thought it a likely place to look. We do not know if that small froup of concerned Facebook posters did so or if was just an idea that never came to fruition.

You think anyone could get a hold of that person???

cinder....(hugs) I found out today and immediately thought about you.

Do you know how far away from the bikes the bodies were found?

i keep wondering if the perp carried smaller elizabeth in first and then carried lyric, who was over twice as heavy as elizabeth and got tired? can't tell where the road is or who was found where but i keep trying to come up with reasons they weren't put together...hmmmm

This picture shows where the road seems to end and the location of the bodies. IMO, not that far to walk/carry.

I wonder, would these searches in other counties have been requested BEFORE or AFTER LE eliminated the lake in Evansdale?

Maybe a silly question, had this area been searched at all?

Per the press conference, Bremer County searched at least some of this area, but it isn't known whether they searched the exact area where Lyric and Lizzie were found.

There may have been private searches of the area by friends/family but I haven't seen anything specific about that.

Did they say if there are suspects or if anyone is in custody? Was this question even addressed? And...how can you speculate that the 2 bodies are E and L based on "stature" and "no one else is missing", when the parents haven't even viewed the bodies or identified them?

Something isn't right here IMO...

Purely speculation and I am going all out with this...I think there is a witness, patricipant, or suspect and he/she is talking. That is how they located the bodies, know it is L and E, and that is why they are looking in the ditches a distance away from where the bodies were located!

So did LE send oficers out in hunting gear to "find" the bodies or are you thinking that there were no hunters and the whole story about them was made up by police?

That seems farfetched to me.

I think the bodies were clothed and that clothing or peices of it was a factor in their confidence that the bodies belong to the girls.

Good question. I think they probably took place after the lake was eliminated and LE realized the girls were really missing. JMO

I hate that he continued to refer to the "bodies" being found. If they were there since they disappeared, wouldn't they be "remains"? When he continues to refer to their bodies being found, it makes it seem as if they were recently brought there.

Also, I do not think that it would have hurt a bit for him to say that the clothing matched the description of the girls (if clothing was there). They really seem confident, so it seems like there should be something besides just the fact that no others are "missing" from this area that are small in stature. If I were a reporter in the audience, I would have asked about clothing.

I am interested in the ME report on COD and possibly TOD.

So very sad today.

Withen the last five pages on this thread a screen cap image of that conversation on facebook is posted. It would contain the fb names of the people who discussed search seven bridges around july 12 I think. So FB would probably be the best avenue to contact them.

I keep thining as I look at that pic that it would have been a pretty long hike deep into heavy vegetation

I want to say on the last thread, but Ollipop said there was clothing with the remains, take that as you want all.

Purely speculation and I am going all out with this...I think there is a witness, participant, or suspect and he/she is talking. That is how they located the bodies, know it is L and E, and they are looking in the ditches a distance away from where the bodies were located because the person told them there is evidence (weaponss, clothes, belongings, etc) there!

After this amount of time there may not be a 'body' to view and, except for clothes, the parents couldn't identify them by skeletonized remains. IMHO

I agree. IMO, there was something very specific that allowed them to quickly say the bodies were Lyric and Lizzie. Not just their stature or the fact that no one else was missing. I suspect that they were still dressed in the clothing they wore the day they disappeared.

approx 22 miles or so

Based on the amount of info given today and comparing today's press conference to past conferences, I am of a mind that LE is as empty handed as it was the day before yesterday. The only difference is the remains/bodies have been found.

Unless the ME discovers a smoking gun, I think the case will grow cold again. Craigslist Guy could be the Black Swan though, that is if he is ever tracked down.

And let's not forget dental records as a possibility.
