Regarding the autopsy report, this is one of the fastest turnarounds of two autopsy reports in my memory.

I am hopeful that means COD was discernable and it helps supply fresh leads to assist in finding the killer.

janie, from past cases the reports were not back for weeks. In many urban areas, especially during the Holiday seasons it could even be longer.

Thanks! I was just curious as to opinion as to why it went so quickly in this case if that is uncommon? The only things I can think of are (1) not a lot to look at, (2) they weren't busy and had available staff to expedite it, (3) pressured from LE to drop everything to concentrate on this case, (4) not a thorough enough job was done?

I don't think this crime was committed by a RSO, as his DNA would be in CODIS. It is hard to believe a RSO would dispose of the bodies this way, knowing his DNA could show up on the bodies or on the clothing of the girls.

However, the perp could be a sex offender whom has never been caught and not in the database.

The perp may have gone to Meyers Lake to fish on July 13, 2012, due to the Wapsipinicon River having lower levels and possibly live along that river.

Just my own thoughts.

There are many sexual predators and violent felons that are not included in CODIS due to the dates of their offenses, negotiated pleas, and of course those that have not been identified or apprehended yet.
Not sure if there is DNA in this case. Praying that there is and there is a match..

It is alarming at the number of absconded RSOs across the US. Estimates are as high as 100,000. Megan Maxwell(TN) was abducted/murdered by an absconded RSO/predator from another state.

The center currently lists 12 missing children in Iowa, including Elizabeth and Lyric. One case dates back to 1975.

Just a big old fat GUESS, but my first impression (I did notice this was a very quick turnaround) was that cause of death must have been quite apparent, and there was little need to do more in-depth examination (i.e., consult a forensic anthropologist or other specialist).

Then again, they may have had these resources at their instant disposal, although that has been a rarity in the cases I have followed.

However, if they did toxicology testing, those results could not possibly be done yet, could they? Don't they require time to process?

The results for Jessica Ridgeway came in very quickly. I don't think it takes very long when lots of resources are available, and it seems like the local LE were very well prepared.

Maybe this is purely coincidence, yet still ... maybe not.
We all are looking for a POI's motive to remove two little girls from society -
(snipped from article, Dan's charges - "domestic abuse or drug charges")

- were the girls beaten to death?
- was a drug vendetta involved? money?
- was a drug user's unpredictable behavior involved
- was a pedophile also know through drug dealings
- was a pedophile using the weakness of a druggy parent as an advantage to move in, take the girls ...?

What in the heck is/was the motive to take Lyric & Elizabeth?
Who did this and why?

I'm not at all surprised that LE didn't ask parents to ID the bodies of their precious little girls.

I mean, why would they when it's so unnecessary?!?

IMHO the condition of the remains would be such that LE wants to protect the parents from having to carry that image in their minds and hearts.

I'm thinking you are right. For example, if they were both shot, the bullet marks could have been apparent on their bones. JMO

You're right, there was no criminal profile released.

I think the girls were lured to Meyers Lake by the perp.

The perp may have asked to girls for directions or to lead the way on their bikes and they rode quickly knowing they had to be back home.

Just my own thoughts, but thinking they all arrived at Maiden Lane from the street side, the girls were put into the perp's vehicle and subdued immediately and then the perp parked the bikes at the other side of the lane.

Perp knows both areas well.

Iowa parks do not hire summer students. The area in my opinion didn't have a park ranger unless there is a camping area that needs to be managed. It seems to be a remote area known by hunters and fisherman and there are a lot of places just like that in Iowa.

I was born & raised in Iowa. Your correct & there is no way they could afford to staff the amount of areas there are. Iowa is filled with areas to camp along any lake, river or stream.

I am not advocating the death penalty - I just posted this to show the depth of emotion that many are feeling about the loss of Lyric and Lizzie.

A sportsman who has a ATV knows they can go anyplace with a ATV. I think the guy put them across a ATV wrapped & tied a tarp to them then disposed of the bodies. A ATV doesn't have license plates. That could even be the way he lured them to go with him. By offering them a ride.

He may of seen them headed toward the lake jumped on his wheeler & followed them or came in a different direction. Totally possible. A ATV has excessive speed. We own 4.

I think it was someone who knew the area & by using a ATV nobody would pay attention to his coming or going. A chest freezer would work to put the bodies in until nobody was looking.

ATV's have headlights & he probably disposed of the bodies at night, when he knew he'd be safe.He probably didn't care where he disposed of the bodies or care when they were found as long as he was long gone,

From a ways back, catching up here. A 4 wheeler would be very unusual within the city limits of Evansdale. It wouldnbe possible, but in the area near the lake, they would have to ride on the street or bikentrail where they are prohibited. Agree it would be entirley possible for them to dispose using one.

I wonder if Iowa has a state park sticker and if so is this area considered a state park?
