TY for reposting. As the brd is moving so quickly these days, I've had to skip many pages and I missed seeing these photos.

I agree they're excellent... the best I've seen for a perspective of the size of the Wapsi (at least as it's currently running) and it's location to the body site.

IMHO the main photo is a work of art as far as the trees and river go, but it's painfully marred by the reason the vehicles are there.

I've only been following this thread for a week, so pardon my ignorance, but has the other missing/murdered children in Iowa been sleuthed/researched for commonalities?
I would assume LE has investigated this thoroughly. It has been discussed here in the threads a few times, but unless I'm remembering wrong, not to any great extent.

Maybe this is purely coincidence, yet still ... maybe not.
We all are looking for a POI's motive to remove two little girls from society -
(snipped from article, Dan's charges - "domestic abuse or drug charges")

- were the girls beaten to death?
- was a drug vendetta involved? money?
- was a drug user's unpredictable behavior involved
- was a pedophile also know through drug dealings
- was a pedophile using the weakness of a druggy parent as an advantage to move in, take the girls ...?

What in the heck is/was the motive to take Lyric & Elizabeth?
Who did this and why?
That's the big question, isn't it? Motive would be a BIG help, but until the perp is caught, we're not going to know for sure. Dan's continuances don't interest me so much as his rejection of the plea deal back in July.

I wonder if Iowa has a state park sticker and if so is this area considered a state park?

This is a county park, not maintained.

Gah I hate being on the other side of the world...I wake up and there's pages to go through.

I'm assuming there is no COD released yet but it has been a very quick turnaround for the girls being examined etc.

Apologies for being graphic -

I'm thinking the COD is very obvious, such as a single bullet to the head. They can even decide COD for mummies and cavemen this way, if there is a skull wound.

My theory - apologies I'm one coffee in...

They were taken by someone they knew and trusted
It was very well organised and planned (apart from this last dumping)
They were alive for the last 100 or so days
The 110 house sweep 45 days ago caused someone to panic and kill them
The motive was not sexual for the perp, although such may have occured as a side effect. The motive is something other than sexual.
There is more than one perp.
He is local.
He is familiar with the dump site OR the accomplice (s) who did the dumping was
He is local...I'm saying Waterloo.
He has a criminal history - a long one
He is in his 30s or 40s (this is no Austin Sigg) but his accomplices may be plural, and much younger and/or female and heavily under his influence for some reason.
This is an execution style murder rather than a violent assault murder - I doubt the girls were physically harmed in any way other than their final moment.
The girls were walked in separately and executed by two different perps.

All my opinion only based on what we know so far and it could change any time some new detail comes to light.

It makes me sick to think they may have died at the hands of someone they trusted, but maybe they never knew or suspected a thing. Maybe they were on a fun secret holiday in their minds, right up until the last second.

Adair88, many folks prefer primitive camping. Someone posted earlier that there were the remnants of a campfire near the 7 bridges crime scene. The river is the water source..

I am confident that there would have been other outdoor persons in the area over the past 5 months which would have contaminated the area around the remains location, imo.

Yes, it was my co-worker who told me she was tubing there this Summer (exited the river at that turn-around in the road) and she did see a lot of litter and a burnt out campfire around that location. The person could have stopped their vehicle at that spot and either walked around the riverside or gone through the vegetation (I also heard there is a walking trail into that area but it is lush with weeds and undergrowth), but the bodies were found a relatively long ways off the road and trail. An ATV is a possibility but would be loud and might draw unwanted attention.

I have run out of milk so I'm having to make do with one of those single serve mocha thingies. :(

Don't joke about me dreaming all that, I do my best thinking when I'm asleep!

From a ways back, catching up here. A 4 wheeler would be very unusual within the city limits of Evansdale. It wouldnbe possible, but in the area near the lake, they would have to ride on the street or bikentrail where they are prohibited. Agree it would be entirley possible for them to dispose using one.

Dan rode his ATV all over Evansdale the day the girls went missing. His drivers license was suspended, so he hopped on his ATV to search.

I'm just trying to theorize (which is what we do here) why the bodies were located within DAYS of the reward TRIPLING. Is that not odd to anyone else? Sorry, but I have a hard time believing in that coincidence. I think the police have more than we know.

It was theorized there were no hunters and it was the police playing some kind of game, when there do appear to be 2 hunters. I like when case facts emerge. Theories and speculation, while a mainstay and amusing for many, have neither held much appeal or helped me understand the reality of a case.

Thanks! I was just curious as to opinion as to why it went so quickly in this case if that is uncommon? The only things I can think of are (1) not a lot to look at, (2) they weren't busy and had available staff to expedite it, (3) pressured from LE to drop everything to concentrate on this case, (4) not a thorough enough job was done?

Autopsies themselves don't take that long...about 3 hours maximum per person once a pathologist gets started (sometimes less than 2 hours, depending). The report writing and gathering of whatever exhibits and transcription is what (tends to) take the time, along with waiting for any toxicology reports, which can take a few weeks. Most M.E. agencies are busy places with scores of bodies coming in. Smaller towns and cities have fewer and these 2 autopsies were probably prioritized.

In this picture, it looks as though the people are standing around something that's between the two sheets we've been assuming are where the bodies were found. The brush looks like it's knee deep to the person in the foreground. It must have been hip deep or more in the summer.

How cold has it been in that area over the last 6 weeks or so?

very good, I agree with everythng you say except my 1 theory is that the perp(s) killed the girls immediately.
AND panic set in on the 110 search and they dumped the bodies.
It would be so hard keeping 2 little crying, whining little girls for months.
Esp home sick little girls who missed their special holidays and birthdays.
HMOO

Let's hope that the perp(s) made a million mistakes and it is on or around the girls.
I want to see these heartless cowards in jail.........death penalty would apply for me.

With this area being primitive, would park rangers go into the area from time to time to look around and if so, what type(s) of vehicles do park rangers drive?

Would a person need to park and walk to see the site where the girls were found?

Do the Iowa parks hire summer students?

TIA and IMO

That area would be monitored by DNR (Department of Natural Resources) personnel. Most of them drive trucks or perhaps an SUV around here. I'm sure there would be someone in Bremer County whose job entails cleaning and monitoring a park like this. My guess is that it would not be a daily or even weekly job, but maybe. There are many other recreation spots in the area DNR do take care of - from collecting money at designated campgrounds to clearing out broken branches in the parks, mowing, etc.

Again, I have never been there, but from aerial pictures and from growing up in Bremer County, you would have to walk a significant distance from the road to the bodies. The Cedar Rapids Gazette has a large amount of great aerial pictures on their website - the link was somewhere up thread - and those can show you the distance from the turn-around to the locations of the bodies.

I have never heard of the parks hiring students, but the DNR might have interns. I've never heard of this though.

They already have made a mistake, a big one in my opinion...the girls were found.

I doubt that was meant to happen, this quickly at least.
