Yes, on HLN, they reported taking computers from the home and "asking for the key to the attic to search". Surprised also that they waited this long.

I agree but as we know following Victoria Stafford's case sometimes they do go way too far and it turns out the parents are innocent. In the meantime precious time is lost. We always hope they run parallel investigations but unfortunately not all LE agencies have the resources to do so.

Let's hope they rule out the family quickly so they can move on.

They are kind of running parallel investigations as they are draining the lake and even sending in divers now, and they interviewed over 200 RSO's I believe. So I think they are trying to cover all the bases.

But if there has been any kind of custody battle or issues about child support--and I don't know if there has or has not---then they have to look at the family as well. IMO

Did WS crash? It kept timing me out. Arrghhh.

I am disappointed that they are just now taking computers. I feel they should have been on that from the beginning.

Also is this right - they have cleared all RSO's but they have not cleared family? So everyone (except the RSO's that have been cleared) are suspects?

http://quadcities.craigslist.org/rnr/3146384317.html

This site was mentioned on one of the Facebook pages. The poster on Craigslist claims that LE needs to look near bridges in Fayette County.

Sorry - I wasn't sure how to post the correct link the first time and this worked.

The post is pretty sick whether its reliable or not. IMO

That was pretty much the scenario I envisioned when I could see myself telling LE that our time to chat was up.

I am not talking about being uncooperative and I am pro investigating the family FIRST thing. I would EXPECT it.

But once I have answered the same daggum question over and over, it's time to take a break. Now if LE has some new stuff to ask, then I will sit right back down! :)

Please don't discuss sites with bad links or flagged for removal links.

:tyou:

And yes, WS was down for quite awhile! Hopefully it's been fixed! :thumb:

Everyone should keep in mind that with Amber DuBois, LE thought the step- father had done it and repeatedly questioned and accused him also. I believe they also focused on Jaycee Dugard's step father as well.

Yes, statistics would point to someone close, but stranger/ aquaintance abductions can and do happen. If it was the father, he would have had a very short time to kill the girls, and hide their bodies. They were reported missing quickly and I'm not so sure he could have had the time to do everything and get involved with LE without someone helping him out. Keep in mind we're also dealing with 2 girls here, one of which is the size of a small adult. These aren't small kids, it's much harder to quickly dispose of 2 larger children and I really think if they were anywhere near the surrounding area, they would have been found by now, unless they're in a basement of a private home. I just have a hard time thinking he could have grabbed both of them, killed them, disposed of their bodies and returned back home all the while with other people present, without anyone noticing. If the girls were in that house, everyone would know it by now, the smell would be overwhelming 6 days later in this heat, unless they were refrigerated (I really hate typing that).

Both Amber's step dad and Jaycee's step dad had the, I don't know if you call it bad luck but, the unfortunate timing to NOT have a rock solid alibi, and hence LE focused on them pretty much entirely.

When Sommer Thompson went missing, everyone was focused on the boyfriend as well, he was also at home at the time, and I think he was taking a nap as well.

All I'm saying is I'll reserve judgement until more info comes out. Of course, this is all my own opinion.

It made me feel like, yeah, they're looking at me like a suspect," said Dan Morrissey, Lyric's father. "But as far as what I know, I know the truth, I know I am telling the truth, so it is offensive."

snip

"It's not normal to us; it's awkward. But we know it's part of the investigation and very necessary and they want to rule out everything, if it’s someone we've encountered over the years, so I understand that," Misty Cook-Morrissey said.

:cow: :moo: I read nothing sinister in DM being frustrated by this process. I would be frustrated as well. I think many parents would.

I have read no statements yet that say the parents have lawyered up or are refusing to now speak with LE. So far it would seem that family is cooperating with LE so I am not going to worry about this business unless it is revealed by LE that they have stopped cooperating.

I think the family all seems to be cooperative. And I would venture a guess that if LE had some new line of questioning for DM, he would go back in and answer whatever he could.

I don't know these people from Adam, but the fact that LE has been able to enter the home(s) without a SW speaks volumes.

What I do think is odd is that LE waited 5 days to interview DM and 6 days to snag the computer(s). IMO shoulda been first 48-72 hours. What with all my LE experience, lol. ;)

A few questions for locals who are familiar with the lake/trail:

Early in the last thread, there was a media quote that said the bikes were located very close to a gate in the lake side fence that was unlocked/unlatched (not sure of the exact wording.) Can anyone tell me if this gate is normally kept locked?

No, it has not been locked for months.

Could someone hide/lay in wait near the gate on the lake side, either ducked down, behind vegetation, etc without being easily seen from the trail?

Yes, this is possible because of the curve.

Also could someone describe the "rocks" that extend into the lake in that area. By rocks does that mean good sized stones, or gravel? Is the area raised above the water? Could someone walk out on it? If so, might the rocks be slippery? (I know there have been reports of the water level being lower than usual - could that have exposed seaweed/slime that might be slippery and could lead to someone falling?)

My child and I have often went through the gate and walked on the rocks. It is not slippery and the stones are small. We learned how to skip rocks there.

I am picturing a "jetty" of larger stone that the girls might have walked out on - if one slipped, perhaps hit her head, and the other tried to help her.... However, I don't know if my mental image of the area is accurate.

Hope this helps :)
