I still say the weight for Lyric has GOT to be wrong. And if it is as wrong as I think it is, people would BOLO for a totally different looking girl! I wish we could find out if that was a mistake.

My 8 year old is tall, but still shorter then Lyric and she is solid at 100 pounds. No one would ever guess her at 100. If you look closely at the halloween pic, I would guess it to be very close to accurate. She has same build and add a few inches, I bet she is just solid.

Sounds like the media is going to be reporting the suspicions on the dad and the removal of computers as their main story on the case, and who knows if any of that is even relevant...doesn't sound to me as though LE has any idea what happened to the girls and is only going down this road (family) in lieu of anything else to do...

Different day = different thoughts and questions:

LE insists that the last time the girls were seen was 12:15 which I believe is the time that grandma seen them on their bikes in the parking lot by that store that she could see from her house. Is it possible that the store has a surveillance camera and it has shown something to LE - like maybe the girls were taken from that back parking lot along with their bikes. Or maybe they met up with somebody in the parking lot and agreed to meet by the lake?

Is there a camera on that store in the parking lot where the girls were last seen by Grandma - Ollipop are you around?

Also LE are asking for tips from anybody who seen the two girls on that whole day on Friday the 13th and they are not confining the tips to the after 12:15 timeframe ... so I think they have seen something on some surveillance tapes from somewhere which is suspicious. Draining the lake is a smoke screen IMO.

The last time they were seen was at 12:15, about a block away from the Collin's home. The 12:15 time seems to be verifiable, so there probably was camera footage. The grandmother last saw them a bit earlier, possibly at 11:30. After 12:15, there doesn't seem to be any verifiable sighting.

I'm wondering if the girls encountered someone in the alley behind the store, where they were last seen. It's possible that someone they thought they recognized offered to give them a lift to a lake for a swim, or to Waterloo ... who knows ... some place that sounded good to them. Since there are no shoes lying on the pavement and no one saw an abduction of two girls, it's quite possible that they went willingly went with someone ... and willingly had their bikes loaded onto the back of a 1/2 ton truck or SUV.

The dad with the shadey past feels that police are focusing on him. I suspect that police are trying to determine whether someone he knows, perhaps an acquaintance from questionable places, may have taken the girls. I think it's quite possible that the bikes were left on the path to throw police off (as the parents have suggested) and that explains why the purse/phone were tossed in the same area. The girls had to be quickly subdued in order for the bikes to be left on the trail by 3:30, so that suggests two people, or one person that used drugs or violence to subdue them.

I think police should look really closely at neighbors/acquaintances and also at anyone that the Lyric may have met in Waterloo the first time police were contacted about her being missing.

you absolutely can. The problem with the last discussion was that after the case was posted people started sleuthing the person in depth who is not directly related to the case at this time.

I agree.
Although I don't think the family did this, LE has to be thourough and that includes checking out the family and the homes. Iowa LE is notoriously tight lipped, they don't release ANY info, even in cold cases, so I don't expect to hear anything about anything for sometime.
Everyone keep in mind when Somer Thompson went missing, even after the family had taken polys, LE wouldn't say that they were cleared. Speculation was rampant as to why LE hadn't come out and said they were cleared. It's possible they don't release that info so the perp is more comfortable thinking the focus is still on the family.

I have a question for anyone that knows, when they say they have checked RSO what exactly does that mean does that mean they searched their homes thier cars thier alibis or do they just say have you seen these girls and if they say no LE's like have a nice day? I am wondering because I have heard this in several missing persons case and cant see them getting search warrants on every SO in the area so how is they determine they are not involved?

Keep in mind that the time period they are looking at is between 11:30 am and 3 pm on a Friday which means normal business hours. That makes it easier to check many alibis because many of the RSOs will have been at work.

I can't remember which msm story said it but it has been mentioned that as of Tuesday evening, no one in the area has refused to give permission for a voluntary search of their property or vehicle.

bbm: wow jim, they seem to be covering all angles.. what is your feeling on the ground?

How is the lake looking? I understand from looking at the topo map that it has areas that could be 21 feet deep or more but I don't see the girls floating to those pockets from the shore if it were a swimming accident.

How strong is the fbi presence? Have they taken over the case from the local PD?

Do you know any more info on the dogs?

What was the reason for the attic search? Did the girls go up there or was something up there LE wanted to look at?

What computers were taken from the home?
Misty tells me they are old computers they haven’t used in a while. No warrants… investigators asker her and she says yes. Also their cells phones were taken for a while and the info downloaded. Misty says the phones haven’t worked properly since then


What is your take on what happened to the girls?

I really don’t know. The geography of the area where the bikes were found would be difficult for a stranger abduction…no way to get out of there with 2 uncooperative girls would be easy.

None of the investigators I have spoken to think they will find anything in the lake…but of course we know until it’s drained. FBI dive team is en route to check the deeper parts.

I think it is just standard search. They asked the Grandmother Wylma for the key while I was with her.

Some do, most I have chatted with…very unscientific…don’t think that there are in the lake. Remember that they searched the lake repeatedly from boats and they didn’t find anything…not even a flip flop or anything….so, its not like the lake hasn’t been looked at

Yes…storms possible this afternoon…very hot , very muggy.

Can Daniel think of anyone that may have been too interested in his daughter? Did he show pictures of her to someone of questionable character? Did his daughter have unrestricted access to the computer at his home? Was she staying with him when she set up personal proflies on the internet?

Have you been on the ground as a reporter in previous missing children's cases? If so, what are the similarities and differences you are witnessing firsthand with LE actions? Do you think LE is leaning towards this being an abduction or an accident?

I can answer the third question. Yes, the weather is still ridiculously hot and muggy. There is a chance for thunderstorms, but I don't know if any have hit in that area yet.

I am trying to visualize if the bikes were placed there by an abductor, how, if it were a man, "he" would take 2 bikes where they were placed without being seen. One was a purple bike, right? You would think someone would have noticed a man on a purple bike but maybe there isn't that much traffic on the bike trails?
