Ollipop...how is the lake looking now? Getting close to a low level?

A few questions for locals who are familiar with the lake/trail:

Early in the last thread, there was a media quote that said the bikes were located very close to a gate in the lake side fence that was unlocked/unlatched (not sure of the exact wording.) Can anyone tell me if this gate is normally kept locked?

Could someone hide/lay in wait near the gate on the lake side, either ducked down, behind vegetation, etc without being easily seen from the trail?

Also could someone describe the "rocks" that extend into the lake in that area. By rocks does that mean good sized stones, or gravel? Is the area raised above the water? Could someone walk out on it? If so, might the rocks be slippery? (I know there have been reports of the water level being lower than usual - could that have exposed seaweed/slime that might be slippery and could lead to someone falling?)

I am picturing a "jetty" of larger stone that the girls might have walked out on - if one slipped, perhaps hit her head, and the other tried to help her.... However, I don't know if my mental image of the area is accurate.

It was his lucky day A pedophile's dream come true. :(

Assuming they were abducted, I can see how easily they could have been lured. Perp says help me find my dog, or do you know where so and so lives, etc.

Both girls follow and bang they get into a vehicle. Regardless of how many times we tell our children of stranger danger, imo, it takes only a few seconds for such a tragedy.

If the perp was known to the girls and someone they trusted even more so.

I hate to agree with this......but tis true. Little girls and boys who are often-even daily- allowed to roam around unsupervised are targets sometimes for an evil watchful eye like that of a pedophile. And a wooded area, near a lake....bad imo.
I, like so many others here, had strict rules about that. My kids were not allowed to wander around alone.

I thought about these girls all night last night. Praying they come home today.

I was on the interstate going by there earlier today (before noon) and I was surprised that it wasn't as low as I'd expect. We're in a fairly severe drought situation, but I still wouldn't call it anywhere near empty. Apparently the FBI are sending a dive team in at some point to check holes/pockets? I guess I really don't understand how this draining works.

Also, it almost looks like it might rain here soon.

A purse could be one that was once a parent's...or a cinderalla sparkly thing you get from walmart. I think at that age...yes...having a purse can make you feel more grown up...especially with a cell phone in it (working or not). But, more in a sense of playing grown-up...not trying to attract boys or pretend you are 21...LOL. I think it is just a way to pack around stuff, in a girly way. Just like boys use cargo pockets...

Very true. I just wish there was a better description.

last I heard 40% of scattered showers, some severe. 1-3 inches of rain possible. I know we need the rain, but hope it holds off for a few more days :/

Has Dad had the lie detector test yet?

Can any of the locals direct me to the Garbage Pick-Up Days, and does anyone know if the Garbage has been diverted from the landfills since the girls went missing?

I feel the same way. It just started sprinkling and as much as we desperately need it, I can't help but pray it stays to a sprinkle.

I have been hit by lightning 8 times, but have never been abducted. I had an adult male stalking me when I was Lyric's age, but he never got his hands on me.

Eight times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are really lucky!

I've only been hit by lightning once, but I too had a man try to grab me when I was a teen and stupidly took a ride on a cold and rainy night when I got in a fight with my then bf and he left me stranded.
Dude looked like a nice family man, driving a mini van. I initially said no, but it was January and I had no coat, so I relented. As soon as we got where I wanted to be dropped off, he grabbed my arm and tried to keep there. I got an adrenaline rush, snatched my arm away and hauled 🤬🤬🤬 screaming my head off. This was a little over 25 years ago, the lightning strike was about 4 years ago.

Yes, it was posted today that he has taken a poly.

As far as the purse - I have seen it reported as a purse and also as a bag in msm.

Thanks. Can anyone pls advise me as to how soon the dogs were brought in after the kids went missing? I was under the impression that the dogs only detected the scent on the docks more recently, not immediately at the start of the investigation. In the link you provided, the article states the dogs tracked the scent to the docks four days after they went missing.

Knowing it was four days after the kids went missing that the dogs tracked scent to the dock area, I have to ask again:

How did the police know to immediately descend on the lake in the first place?

So many kids drown, so that in most missing child cases it's standard to check out all nearby waterways asap. With the heat and this being a shallow lake, IMO, if the girls were in the lake, they would have surfaced in about 7 days. I'm actually more surprised that the lake is being drained.

I'm not sure why Lyric height and weight are being discussed. IMO its not relative and shouldn't be discussed. Regardless of height, weight and whether she was or wasn't bullied should not matter. She's still missing.

Hmmm, I'm 3 miles or so away and ours is on Friday (Was last friday around noon). My friend lives a few blocks away, I'll text her.

I gathered her height etc were discussed because she looks a little older than 10 imo. :waitasec:
