That was one of the first things to cross my mind. I have no idea if he was released, but the second I heard this story it pinged in my head. Also, isn't there a monument/statue off the highway in Cedar Falls dedicated to a runner that was killed? I know that's old news, but I can't help but feel someone/people are targeting the paths and trails in the area.

Also, as far as the RSO searches: They've contacted all in the Evansdale area, but I believe there are just shy of 200 within a few miles (believe me, we did extensive RSO searches when house hunting here) of their area. Also, I'm not sure if it was previously mentioned, but there were searches of many houses (randomly, not following leads) in Evansdale and as far as I've heard, no one refused. I was more concerned with the river on the other side of 20/380, but I'm guessing there was really no good way to get over there.

IMO, I believe that the girls were lured away. My gut screams that they are not in that lake. And if there'd been a struggle, I'd think they would have found a shoe or SOME evidence. As much as I speak to my children regularly about the dangers of people we don't know, I can't think that they wouldn't still be curious or pliable. Granted, by children are much younger, but still. It also GREATLY concerns me to hear of/see young children ALONE putting flyers on car windshields at the movie theater/mall, etc. We have a security system, and a privacy fence and I still can't let my kids out in my yard alone. The thought terrifies me.

The person who stabbed thewoman at George Wyth park is still in custody. When I checked black hawk county whos in jail, he was still there and has been since March.

The monument in Cedar Falls dedicated to a runner was in memory of a runner who was killed by a vehicle on the roadway.

Several sources have confirmed that law enforcement officials have called for all residential and commercial trash in the city of Evansdale to be set aside in the Black Hawk County landfill to be searched through by those involved in the ongoing investigation.

Brett Vette, administrator of the Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission, confirmed that law enforcement were searching through garbage dumped at the county landfill Monday. However, no such activity was reported on Tuesday.

Debbie Acklin of Black Hawk Waste Disposal has also confirmed such proceedings are taking place.

"I can confirm that all Evansdale trash is being segregated in the Black Hawk County Landfill for law enforcement to search if they so choose," Acklin said.

I'm bothered that only Evansdales trash was secured. I live in Elk Run Heights and live less than two miles from the lake and there are homes much closer to the lake than mine that are still Elk Run Heights. Not to mention that waterloo is a stones throw away.

HLN reporting now that DM says he was interrogated yesterday and poly'd and police repeatesly accused him and he got up amd walked out.

Also, in last 90 mins they took comps out of house.....6 days into investigation.

No warrants, done with family consent.

That's scarey that they waited this long to take those computers. I almost cant believe they wernt secured on the first day and started looking at them. Even on day one, we could tell she had a facebook account. I worry for whatever sites she may have been going to to play games and what not without her mother knowing what she was doing. No way for mom to search for something if she doesnt know its happening.

Perhaps if they know the girls are not in the lake, they can continue to be hopeful that they'll be found alive.

That's how I took it, anyhow.

I am losing faith in this investigation - sorry. I just had hoped for more info!

It is very frustrating! if you don't know the families personally, you know 5 other people that do! this community is absolutely gripped by this mystery. because the biggest fear is that it just as easily could have been my kid..

What about looking in the pipe - does not know why it is being checked. Overflow grate was checked for any evidence/bodies.

Cook-Morrissey said she'd be "more comfortable" with the theory that the girls might have been abducted "once they drain the lake and we find nothing there."

Well.. my first thought is that at least if they were abducted they might be alive? As opposed to found when a lake is drained.

I took the "more comfortable" quote that she would prefer to wait and see if they drowned before wanting to think about them being abducted. Personally, if they are no longer w/us I would want to believe drowning -not that they had been kidnapped. If kidnapped, God knows what has happened or is happening to them. If they drowned, it would devastating but the family would know they didn't suffer for long.

As long as tips coming in LE has no intention of scaling back. Tips have been coming in - starting to slow down but still coming in. Number of tips rec'd is being tallied in the command centre.
Rumours coming in and latest one is that the girls were found in the landfill....not true.
