bbm: I knew it..

they were lured into the woods.. why get off the bikes and go into the woods?

They were lured there imhoo. (and not by anyone related to them.. the timeline is too tight imhoo.. this seems to me to be an impulse grab by someone in the woods at the same time they were there)

Aunt Tammy went on to say that the dogs went into the woods to where you could park a car back there. You're right, she's so excited it hard to follow her.

Living in Evansdale
The Collins Family: Drew and Heather Cook Collins and their four children, one of whom is Elizabeth, 8.

Heather's mother, Wylma Cook, comes over most mornings to help Heather care for Drew and Heather's four children because Heather has a serious health problem. Lyric has been accompanying her grandmother to the Collins' home recently since her mother, Misti, began a new job.

Living in Waterloo
Wylma Cook: Misti Cook Morrissey lives with her mother, Wylma Cook, and Misti's daughter, Lyric, 10. Lyric is the daughter of Mysti and Daniel E. Morrissey. Wylma is the mother of three daughters: Heather, Misti, and Tammy.

Vicki Weikert: Paternal grandmother of Lyric Morrissey. Mother of Daniel E. Morrissey.

I think I have it correct about who lives where for those listed above, but does anyone know...

1) Does Lyric's brother live with Lyric and Misti Morrissey and their grandmother/mother, Wylma Cook, in Waterloo or does he live somewhere else?

2) Does Dan Morrissey live with Lyric, Misti and Wylma at Wylma's house or does he live with his mother in Waterloo or does he have his own place?

3) Are Misti and Dan Morrissey married to each other at this time or is he married to someone else (he mentioned a wife one night on TV)?

I'm confused....

Just answered all this on JVM. Wylma has custody of the children of Misty. Misti and Daniel are separated and have been for awhile....he's currently addicted to meth. He lives with his mother, Vicki. This all per Tammy B, Misti's sister that Jane was interviewing. Hope someone is recording it.

I keep yelling at my husband today: What did they think happened???

Because really. It never appeared, to me, that they went out for a swim. Nothing was right. :banghead:

Back in 1978, a 12 year old junior high student in Florida had her first class of the day in a temporary building outside the main building of her junior high school. She went into the main building for her second class but then realised she'd left her purse in the first class classroom. So she ran back out to the temporary building to reclaim her purse.

After that, the story gets a little blurry. See, that girl's name was Kimberly Leach and she was Ted Bundy's last victim.

Looking at the story before Ted enters the picture, it's almost inconceivable that she would be murdered that day. If she had attended a different junior high school. If she had been assigned a different classroom. If she hadn't forgotten her purse. If Ted hadn't been prowling that day.

So many things had to fall together for Kimberly Leach to die that day that it would have seemed impossible the day before that Kimberly would be Ted Bundy's last victim.

And yet, all those seemingly impossible things all fell together in just the wrong way for that poor girl.

At this point, I feel it is too soon to rule out a predator who found a spot that looked like a good place to hunt. That the predator wasn't looking specifically for Elizabeth and Lyric but in some way, circumstances fell together in such a way that they fit his profile for potential victims.

Ollipop and a few other locals have all said that they have felt uncomfortable about that one stretch of trail, that it's essentially a blind curve, closed in, close enough to I380 so that traffic noise muffles other sounds, etc.

Sounds like the sort of place that predators seek out.

I just want to say your posts always invoke pause for thought. ty

Tammy said the dogs immediately went straight to the bikes (separately) then right into that wooded area...
she also mentioned one of the dogs going to the rocks by the lake, did someone else understand that portion of her statement?

I am recording the show.

I'm not too impressed by this either. But if dad is a drug addict, he may not be of sound mind to be making comments to the media:

http://abcnews.go.com/US/missing-iowa-girls-dad-feels-suspect/story?id=16806825

"You tell them the truth and they say, 'You're holding something back,' and you're not. What is left to talk about? You know, we go over and over and over again," he told KCCI Des Moines Tuesday. "It made me feel like, 'Yeah, they're looking at me like a suspect.'"

From the looks of him(a little heavy)he may not be doing much meth while waiting to go to trial.

Gosh! I just hope this was not meth-related. Someone(s) getting back at the father. Surely that would make it a local who would know the area and about the girls and their habits and whom the girls may have come upon while bike riding. Moreover, the girls would recognize/know this person or persons from the area and gone with willingly.

Was it mentioned why Misti doesn't have custody?

  • #651
Oh dear. JVM does have new info.

1. Daniel has long rap sheet of arrests, most recently meth (very recent). Caught with 3 meth labs. Trial coming up in 3 weeks. He is addicted to it and makes it.

2. Daniel and Misti have been separated for some time. Daniel is bio father (speculation was he was step-father)

3. Daniel has a 16 yo son and was at home with him when girls went missing.

Jane said 46 charges against him....I counted 48, but who's counting. :/ Long history since '97, like every two years. Prison twice.

Her BMI is almost 30 which = class I obesity. She, and anyone else, would have been miserably hot riding bikes for 2-3 hours in 90 degree weather last Friday. Although the lake was greenish in color, it might have looked okay to enter for someone that was extremely hot and tired.

Actually, Friday wasn't that hot. The first part of the week was hotter than usual (high 90s) but then a cool front came through and Friday barely made it over 80 degrees.

After the heat earlier in the week, Friday felt very comfortable, almost cool. It was a great day to be outside and even this very fat woman was comfortable.

I was about Lyric's size and weight at that age and I spent hours riding my bike and/or swimming in the summer. Sure, I was hot and sweaty but everyone was hot and sweaty.

On weekends, when my dad went riding with us, we'd do rides of 15-30 miles.

A little ride of less than a mile wouldn't have even gotten me breathing hard. Particularly when the temperature was only 75 degrees (which was the temp at noon on Friday).

From a mind of a deer hunter. I really don't like thinking this and I really really hate to ask this but........ If you are a local searcher please look up, look for large circling birds. It's best to look from a high point.

Still praying for a safe return.

You can see on here that at one time Elizabeth's mom Heather Collins had temporary custody of Lyric until 2007 and Grandma Wylma Cook had temp custody of Lyric's brother. We talked about this in the first thread.

Would that have been around the time that Misty had her own troubles and perhaps did federal time for meth - like four years of time? Somehow I am beginning to think that somehow this is all related ... somehow maybe. There is some stuff going on in the background that is just starting to come out.

How far away were the washrooms in the park from where the bikes were found?

He's 20 years old, so if those are dates they must be a different person. (He was born in 1992)

He was sooooooo bad he started before he was even a twinkle in his father's eye!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The day before Daniel Morrissey's daughter disappeared, the court set a September date for him in connection with drug charges that allege police found items used to make meth in his home in December.

Morrissey also has a pending domestic assault charge stemming from an August incident where he allegedly assaulted Misty Morrissey.

One of his alleged accomplices in the drug case had a pretrial conference the day of the disappearance, and another codefendant was scheduled to plea the following Monday.

Misty Cook pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute meth in 2003. Misty Morrissey is charged under her maiden of Cook.

Capt. Rick Abben said the both families are cooperating with the investigation. Wylma Cook, the girls' grandmother, said officials "interrogated" Dan Morrissey, Lyric's father, Tuesday.

Makes me wonder if one of his accomplices was trying to get revenge somehow?
