unverified sightings:

lawn water guy near lake betwn 12-3

guy on bike on trail 12:20

another guy at 2:30ish but that just doesn't fit really because the guy on the bike is so spot on..

Unless...Girls play in the woods (hence their scent), guy see the bikes at 12:15 while girls are playing. The girls get back on their bikes and ride some more, maybe heading home (other guy sees them at 2:30 ish) because they have been gone too long and don't want to get into trouble. Maybe their purse was thrown over the fence the first time they were there by some one. They go to ride home, decide they maybe in trouble for her losing the purse or oh I left my purse there, turn around and go back to the spot they were at previously, and something happens there. Did the guy on the bike verify the bikes were in the "exact" same position as when he saw them at 12:15? Thanks.

So from the presser we got....NOTHING?

we got updates on what will be happening with the dive tomorrow and that it is a distraction for the family to quit speaking with police.

I am sure the police are equally frustrated that they have nothing more at this point.

It sure is sad all around :-(

If you want the police to help you and work with you to find your children, you answer ANY and ALL questions asked. You take however many poly's they want you to. Whatever it takes to get your child back!

Why would you want to hinder an investigation? This is your child you are talking about. Answer questions about your friends...all of them. Answer questions about your drug use....all of them. Answer questions about your family...any and all of them too.

I would put it all out there so the LE can sort it all out. I don't care if I end up in a bit of trouble for something unrelated to my kid's disappearance. I'm one who believes if you play, you pay. I don't care who gets "in trouble" for whatever information comes out. I don't cover for anyone. Especially if a child is missing.

Of course, they would first have to wait until I could actually speak because I'm afraid I would be so looped on Xanax so that I didn't "feel" the loss of my child that I don't think I'd make any sense.

IMO, JMO, MOO

Respectfully, how realistic do you think it is that if a parent were uncooperative, LE would stop looking for their child?

I don't think it's realistic at all.

Even if an individual officer were tempted to stop looking, I think somewhere up the chain of command, there would be someone smart enough to realise what a public relations nightmare that would turn into.

The sort of public relations nightmare that ends up with the resignations or forced retirements or firing of LE personnel, usually starting at the top and proceeding downwards.

Like you, if I did the crime I wouldn't complain about doing the time. However, if I hadn't done any crime, I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs. And if I started thinking LE was more focused on me than on finding my loved one or if LE was accusing me to my face, I think memories of all the Innocence Project cases I've read about would come rushing into my head.

I'd get a lawyer ASAP especially if I were innocent.

Grrrrr my pc crashed as the presser was getting ready to start and it has taken me the last 40 minutes to get back on. Time for a new computer I think.

The thing that gets to me more than anything in cases like this... SOMEBODY out there KNOWS what happened. How do those people live with themselves???? I am heartsick over cases like this.

According to Brousseau, Dan and Misty also had a no contact order with each other, but it has been modified in light of the search for their daughter.

http://www.kwwl.com/story/19066921/family-of-missing-girls-gets-attorney

In Canadian Provincial Courts, a no contact order between spouses is an indicator of prior violence, threats of violence, or a propensity for criminal activity between two associates when in each other's company. Is this similar to US practises ? Has their been any prior discussion or allusion to a history of domestic violence between Dan and Misty ?

There was some mention of Lyric not being allowed to spend time alone with her father. I wonder if this is a condition of his release or part of a protection plan implemented by DCFS ? Or was it simply the mother saying "No, you can't see her without supervision".

If there was a no-contact order between the two of them, Misty would not have been allowed to supervise those visits or even be a third party participant. Who was supervising contact ? Has either family had any contact with DCFS before the girls disappeared ?

The complete lack of anything beyond the bikes and purse leads me to suspect that the bikes and purse were a red herring. When is the last confirmed, verified sighting of the girls by anyone other than Grandma ? I remember during the Zahara Baker case, there were questions regarding the last confirmed sighting by anyone other than the family and we all remember how that one ended.

bbm: good thoughts on playing

as for guy on the bike.. he allegedly saw them around 1220 and I haven't seen anything about the position of the bikes only that when the sheriff got there he claimed they were leaning against the fence (yesterday's presser)

That's a good point. They might have to stay away from each other because when you're paroled, you can't associate with other felons sometimes, right?

Point is, I think they've been together for a while-- hence, Lyric attempting to run away because her dad was angry about housework.

You didn't miss much - there was no live stream available over the internet. One of the stations is uploading it now to their site so we will still all get to watch it together. It was broadcast locally and some of our local excellent WSers were able to fill in some gaps as we were picking up tweets of the presser.

With respect, no one saw or heard ANYTHING in the lake.

Very small children do sink without a struggle. Older children who can swim, do not.

As I said, it is statistically unbelievable that TWO children, one of whom was the size of an adult, sink silently, AT EXACTLY THE SAME TIME, with no struggle, splashing, noise. At least ONE would have struggled, and probably survived.

This is GOOD news! It means that they may well still be alive, and still be recoverable.

Actually it is not so uncommon. We learned all about it in class-many times a drowning person will drag an untrained rescuer right down with them. That's why we had to learn the correct way to save a drowning victim-so we would not end up one ourselves.

I agree. I don't think things like the Christine and Walter Collin mess happen anymore. I would hope not. Also, a Lawyer is just part of the process in most cases...

What I got from the presser is that they aren't talking about what they have. I heard delicate semantics to avoid talking about things that they do not want to reveal. moo

It reminds me a lot of the Jorelys Rivera case. LE sounded like they had NOTHING, but they had a world of evidence against Ryan Brunn and were just playing it really close to the vest.

  • #373
well let's see- I don't know that LE ever confirmed any sightings of girls and/or bikes, exactly how the bikes were found positioned, what position the bag was in (thrown or set down), that the dogs did or did not follow scent...
so...color me a wee confused...is the lake thing a diversion?

To clarify the timeline on Friday because we've gotten a lot of questions on it: 12:15 p.m. Grandma says she last saw the kids in downtown Evansdale; 2 p.m. Mother comes home from appt. and discovers kids aren't there. She looks for them; around 2:30 p.m. She contacts police. Police and firefighters begin search; 4 p.m. firefighter finds bikes on trail by lake.

Also to clarify another question we've gotten a lot: Some of the missing posters have a clothing description for the girls. The sheriff's dept. does not.

FYI, kwwl.com claims they will be live streaming these pressers as well as carrying them live on KWWL-TV..

What seems odd is....

The Girls could have been at the lake,
walk to the edge where Dogs tracked them,
walked back the same way they came to their bikes then some one abducted them.

Just because Dogs tracked them their doesn't mean they went in the lake...

Also Question were the bikes in Good Working Order when found? No flat tire, broken Chain anything?

This just gets more confusing by the hour...ugh!

You said it Sistah.

*No reason to believe foul play involved.

*Searching lake, it appears, exclusively. (although we aren't always privy to the full scope of an investigation)

*Family being very cooperative.

*Family took polys and have alibis.

*Family refusal to take more polys a distraction.

Um, well, to recap..... so even though LE doesn't think there is foul play, which IMO is a very foolhardy statement to make so early into an investigation of two missing LITTLE girls, the parents have been questioned and poly'd. And NOW LE states that should, in the future, hypothetically, if LE required MORE polys in this no-foul-play disappearance case, the parents refuse to comply, THAT would be a distraction?

Do I have this Godawful mess right? :(

BBM above, or running away because they were filing for divorce.

I found a live stream over the internet today. I'm not sure which station is was now, though. I'll see if I can figure it out.

The mother coming home from appt would be Elizabeth's mom, right?
