Upthread, someone posted the video from Big and Tall (presumably) outside camera and it shows the girls heading away from the area. I don't know where the camera is in relation to the road leading to the lake, but perhaps someone local could watch it and tell us if they were heading towards the lake or the opposite way? thanks.

not local but comparing to map, they appeared to be traveling west towards River Forest Rd and the river

Yes, please don't give up until you have confirmation from LE that they know about those tire tracks. This could be important, and I'd rather be over-zealous now than remorseful later.

be persistant Olli! :maddening: i phoned a tip in Monday and didn't hear a word. Called again Wed and that night heard from LE....they are checking tips! Keep up the good work!

Separate autos. Heather had gone directly to the police station to report them missing and Gma, MCM? and the son were at the lake. Not sure if someone at the lake called Heather...and she relayed the info or if they called LE directly. What I missed is how Tammy fit into the search?

I can't figure out why the boy wasn't sent to run and check out the trail?

Exactly. ?? Your response is helpful, so thank you, but still does not explain to me the sense of urgency. Even if Heather fielded the call, and told police they had been seen just 15 minutes prior riding their bikes in the park- My pd would probably consider that they had been found. At that time, they had no way of knowing what we know now?

Also, the actions of the police imply they took that 2 30 sighting as credible. And that is where the bikes were found. It seems like it would be an amazing coincidence if they were overreacting on a bogus tip when that is where the bikes turned up and two girls did come up missing. Jmo.

One thing is certain: when that police tape comes down (when I arrived at work 12 hours ago I heard it would be), you will all see pics of that trail section, and those woods, if not by press, then by me. I will also be double-checking those tire tracks. I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here, or being over-zealous about seeing some evidence that I think may have been overlooked. But I can see that damn lake out my window. My kids sleep a 3-wood shot away. My 4-yr old son has asked me 7 days in a row now if I've found Elizabeth. I know I can't return to "business as usual" until these thoughts/questions are put to rest. If LE tells me that they had a vehicle in there, I will let it go. But the girl on the other end of the tipline did not indicate that they had.

BBM: Ollie, that is heartbreaking. :(

If the girls were seen at 2:30 or around that time, and that truly is a credible sighting...the girls were well beyond the time they should've already been home. I know kids lose all track of time, so that's possible. And, as stated before, there seemed to be a problem with Lyric and another cousin not too many days prior, where the girls were out too long, resulting in the police being called. Am I remembering that correctly?

Did the cyclist swerve to avoid the bikes at 12 :20 ? Or was it at 12 :27 ? TIA

yes. I believe the girls (Lyric and a Waterloo cousin) came up the driveway as the LE arrived.

What has been stated before by other posters:
Lyric was talked out of running away in the not-so-distant past.
Lyric and another cousin were gone too long, resulting in police being called.

Nothing too unusual when considered separately. But when you add those both together AND then consider they are now missing...hmmm...

Also, if you are Lyric and already got into some trouble being late...would you do it again so soon?

Just re-posting for anyone who hasn’t seen this:

In this interview and article Mr. C who lives on Lake Ave. (near Gilbert Drive) reports seeing Elizabeth and Lyric bicycle by his house between 12-3pm the day they disappeared.

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20120717/NEWS/120717002/?odyssey=nav|head

“I was out watering my yard between 12 and 3:00 and the girls rode their bikes right by our house,” Carpenter said. He and his wife, Marcella, were at Meyers Lake this morning to observe the activity.

“We see them practically all the time ride their bikes right past our house, but they come down and turn around in the street,”
he said.

Marcella Carpenter was out delivering newspapers with her granddaughter when deputies visited the house.

This is from that same article above.

Anyone find any of this HINKY??? Cause, I always have. ALWAYS.

(EDIT: I just watched the video and color me confused, but wife now places herself at the home when Sheriffs came, is answering for the husband. Then she talks past tense about Elizabeth (was a sweet girl). I just don't have good feelings about this article -- AT ALL.)

I have felt all along they were abducted and taken to an abandoned building...near waterloo....an abandoned school..Take the dogs..

Any information in MSM that is swaying you in this direction or is this a gut feel? Which direction in Waterloo - north/south/east/west?

Yep, I pointed this out way back in the threads. It raised my antennas so to speak.

I was thinking about this as well...sounds like a little boundry testing by Lyric. Pretty typical for her age and family situation.

My favorite thing I used to do with my kids when they were little was wait until somebody (especially the sweet grandma type) started conversing with them in a busy store checkout line, then I'd ask my kids loud enough so eveyone could hear "I want you to look around you at all the people here. They look like pretty nice people don't they?" and my kids would respond "yeah". Then I would say "Well we don't know any of these people. They look nice, but they are all strangers because we don't know them. Even nice looking people are strangers." their eyes would get all wide..LOL!

:what: I'm sure glad I never ran into you. I am the sweet old grandmotherly type and I would have been so very humiliated. JMO MOO

I've felt a little too picky to bring this up, but why was he watering between 12 and 3? Maybe Texas is different enough heat-wise that my experience is not theirs, but watering in the heat of the day isn't usually optimal.

People local to the area chimed in earlier in another thread saying it's not too unusual to see people watering their grass this long. And, maybe, they were moving a sprinkler around (big lawn).

However, all the other information, besides the timeframe he gives, really does bother me.

Lives 2 blocks away from the lake.
Sees them everyday.
They turn around at the end of his street.
"They are personable and talk to everyone (the girls)"
And, places himself at the site of "abduction"/bikes left for interviews.

Just taking the lawn out so that's not dwelled on, but that is a timeframe -- and it's huge.

If that is, indeed, a picture from last night, I truly don't know what to say. But...honestly, please don't tell me that it is normal behavior. I can't believe it.

I really think we should be looking in Satsuma (sp?) .... this is not normal behavior. The girls have been missing 1 week and they are not in the lake, they are not simply missing, they are classified as being abducted. What is wrong with people, I wouldn't hardly be able to get dressed let alone gear up for a bar trip.

  • #238
I know...I've heard that people handle things differently, but this would feel right to them? I've felt as though every aspect of MCM's behavior has had to be explained...this puts me over the top. As a mother, I can't even imagine ever smiling again, let alone exactly one week after my child went missing. I'm sick :(

What is "Satsuma"?

Couldn't this photo have been taken before the girls went missing? Is there any way to tell when it was taken. Even if the person who took it says they took it last night, how do we know that's true?

I would like to believe the picture isn't recent. Maybe boosted from a fb page?
