He said they have no evidence to indicate that they are dead basically. So that is his reason for feeling they are alive - and they want to keep hopes up for the family. That does not sound as promising as what was said over the weekend! JMO

No, that is not promising at all. That is the standard line from LE, for everyone from Kyron, to Sierra, to Ayla, etc...until they subtly begin to alter their words, and then end up saying they don't believe the victim could be alive...

And he asked reporters what the man's name is and no one could say. Frustrating! :banghead:

OK is anyone actually running this show or do they need us to step in and do it for them??????????

He referred to the FBI spokeswoman, Sandy Breault, as "that lady". Sorry, but he's less than helpful, doesn't seem to know much and seems to have a big chip on his shoulder and a crappy attitude. If he's being put out by doing a press briefing, he ought to let Breault do it. He's quite unprofessional, IMO. And he ought to enunciate clearly and quit the mumbling.

Agree 100%!!!

Paddle boat between noon and 1 pm?

Did anyone else hear this? Asking about a paddle boater between noon and 1 pm? If so, that makes me think the 12:27 bike sighting is valid - but then he claims to not know about this sighting. Arrgh.

Totally agree! Why the attitude? Especially about the bike guy? :waitasec:

Oh, I think someone is running the show, and that might explain Abben's attitude. He's acting like a kid who's upset that he didn't get his way in something.

At first thought I agree. On second thought maybe he is not good at this and does not want to say something he shouldn't. He REALLY seemed to want to get this over with as quickly as possible.

I also think he says he doesn't know - when he really means to say he can't comment on that. I think some of his "I don't knows" have to be mis-truths.

Very strange saying he doesn't know about the bike sighting at the lake. I mean, it's been in the MSM for some time now. Don't know what to think about that.

Can anyone provide a link to the video of the girls riding their bikes, that was just referenced in the presser?

Thanks in advance.

Starling, Sorry Im finishing up things in my home office.....I didn't forget you.
At the beginning of this thread is a link to the surveillance vid that captured the girls. It is extremely grainy, hard to make out and short.
Hope this helps.

Out on a limb here...

The "increased co-operation" from the family could mean that someone's started talking, perhaps about threats, perhaps about suspicions, perhaps about things one of the girls had earlier said or done.

Maybe something one of the family has said has led to LE believing the girls are indeed, still alive, and their disappearance IS NOT random or unplanned.

:moo:

I'm only wagering a guess but IMHO it sounds like
LE may THINK the girls were on a paddle boat after
they got off their bikes.

Notice it was just stated that there is NO RESULT OF LDT.
Sounds much different than what is being said by LDT taker. IMHO

"Obviously they had to have been seen"

Not 100% confident the girls were on their bikes at the lake

Is the second tweet, the reporter's opinion or did Abben say this?

no percent was confirmed...

i really suspect that le is attempting to prove who was NOT at the lake that day, could be witnesses or maybe even the girls...jmho

usually when you use a tracking dog, you take them to the place last known - that would be where the bikes were laid to rest - but if there is a thought that the bikes might have been put there by a perp, then the last place they were spotted, like in the alley.

I don't believe people really know what the dogs smell when they get a scent and I never have heard anything about what you eat affecting what the dogs sniff - but that doesn't mean it isn't true - nice to ask the dogs if they could talk - there are lots of theories around I suppose and all I know is they get the scent of the missing person and then track it - period. But if the scent is contaminated or the scent item not handled right, as someone else has picked it up then they will track the freshest scent from the item and contamination is a big problem with people that do not understand how to handle shoes and pillow cases - can't just pick them up barehanded.

Another thing to consider is that certain medications can change body odour.

For instance, a friend of mine had been trying to put a UD on her TDX dog for a long, long time.

My friend had a kidney transplant and her visit to the doctor was always on Thursdays. They'd adjust her anti-rejection meds and she would start the new medication routine on Friday. All of her dogs would be a little squirrelly around her on Friday evenings.

Saturday, her obedience dog would invariably fail on scent articles. By Sunday, her dog was good on scent articles but something else would fall apart (there is a reason they call it "futility").

My friend finally picked up on the pattern and talked someone else into handling her dog. The dog earned the UD in three straight trials.

i got the impression that the family that wasnt cooperating was made an offer that they couldnt refuse... and whatever that offer was is not going to be revealed by abben...thats thats the attitude that i got from him... all speculation on my part...

That's correct, Truman, the poster on the FB Group (I believe Ted's daughter whom he had phoned), was concerned THAT DAY, on July 14th, and wanted the family to know the information, thus, she posted on FB so the family would know the information.

Totally NOT hinky at all, IMO. Gut instinct, nothing else.

What fb did teds daughter post on?

BBM

I don't think LE think so. Abben wasn't even aware of the report. Obviously he is not given all information that comes in. Perhaps TG's information was not considered crucial because it has been determined that it was not the girl's bikes that he saw.

But we do know now that there was a runner/jogger at the lake that day who absolutely did see the bikes. Obviously they have been told not to go to the media with this info. And so there is a concrete time that LE do know that the bikes were there prior to 4pm.

MOO

BBM

Either that or they simply don't want the public scrutiny.

I know I wouldn't want to talk to the media. I'd gladly give my 15 minutes of fame to someone else who would enjoy it more.
