Dan is facing 5 counts that each carry a 45-year prison term. He is in deep, deep doo-doo. So if he pled guilty to get that reduced, and flipped on people, I can see them being mad enough to do harm to those closest to him.

This is the most thorough article I have seen on their criminal backgrounds. (Not accusing them of being involved! Just for the record!) --

They would be far, far more likely to do HIM harm than two little girls.

Drug dealers love their children too.

IMO.

Has he plead his case out?

I am not sure he would have to flip on anyone to get a plea. 90% of all cases end in pleas anyway.

I dont think someone is going to kidnap two girls from different moms and dads to get even with Dan. If they were this tough and cruel they would just put a bullet in Dan's head and be done with it.

IMO

I was just wondering if anyone would know if the courts would put off a trial/conviction while a suspects' child is missing? I know I have heard of sentences being overturned due to some kind of family issues/illness/death etc. I am just throwing this out there as a consideration of possible motive...not a condemnation.

Okey doke Sarx- as I understand it the dogs were brought to the bikes, they did not trail TO that point from any other place. And apparently no dogs went storming off else where...and then...?
although the aunt said they went to the 'woods' FWIW but LE never said anything about the results that I recall.

some MSM references for you-

FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault said the reaction from the dogs Monday night indicated a "strong possibility" the girls had been at the lake, less than a mile from their grandmother's house where they were last reported seen Friday. However, Breault said because there were no confirmed sightings at the lake, authorities couldn't be certain.

The FBI brought two dogs to the area to search Monday night, and the dogs were used again on Tuesday, FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault said.

The dogs used scent pad samples taken from the girls' shoes and picked up a scent trail, but Breault couldn't say what, if anything, it led investigators to.

Misty Cook-Morrissey, Lyric's mother, told CNN that after smelling the scent pads Monday, the dogs ran around the lake and stopped at the water's edge.

Authorities said Tuesday that they didn't know whether the girls had been at the lake.

"We have their bicycles and we have the purse and that doesn't tell me that they've been there, just that those items are there," Abben said.

I am still trying to find the link to what the Aunt Tammy stated about the serach dogs, to get your take on it:)

That Daily Mail article was excellent and provided some great info.......after reading that I think the LE certainly think that Lyrics parent/s have something to do with the girls disappearance. I think it was Lyric who was the intended "victim" and Elizabeth was with her. I just dont know the motive.......it is either something to do with him going to court and asking for a jury trial (maybe trying to garner sympathy??) ie he has hidden the girls or Lyric being taken as a threat to him. They were also on the verge of getting divorced............do they get on??? if he knew he was about to go to jail could he have taken Lyric to spite Misty???

It is all too suspicious to me.

So we have:

11:30 Girls leave E's house
12:15 Girls seen on video
12:20 T.G. Sees abandoned bikes
2:00 Girls are late - Aunt, Gmom & brother start search - are told be neighbor (name?) he was watering lawn between 12-3 and saw girls. Verified local thinks this odd or unlikely.
2:45 H.C reports girls missing at local LE station
3:00 Lake is swarmed by police
3:57 Bikes found by LE (fireman?)

I need to go grab links to back all this up but I'll need to get my laptop. What else should be on here and I'll start looking for MSM conformation?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

12:27 TG calls daughter from cell phone at garage/gas station which is how he later bases his siting of the bikes
Bikes found at 3:58

NO ONE HAS CONFIRMED THE GIRLS WERE EVER AT THE LAKE.

Full stop.

Right?

The dogs got their scent but as dogs can't talk, we don't know how old the scent was.

No eye witness has actually confirmed the girls made it to the lake that day, at all.

You are right and in the presser today it seems LE is wondering if they ever made it to the lake too. They really have no eye witness saying the girls made it there. I think their scents were still on the bikes and if they found some evidence such as a tossed shoe in the woods close by somewhere then of course the dogs would track that scent.

What we dont know is did the predator put them there?

IMO

I believe they started searching for the girls at 2. They were at the lake at 2:45. That leads me to believe it was not the first place they looked.

ETA: I do find it odd that the girls were reported missing at 2:45 and police swarmed the lake at 3. That's a mighty fast response time IMO.

And yet didn't find the bikes til about 4, right? I agree something's just weird about the timeline in this whole thing.

LE always looks at family members but today I think LE said they are getting more cooperation now from the family. There is no evidence known that any of the parents are involved. LE has no suspects.

The FBI are calling this an abduction.........I really dont think Lyric's family would want all their dirty laundry known to everyone in the world now and the motive be financial gain.

I think the FBI is saying they are alive simply because at this time they haven't uncovered any evidence yet that shows them they are dead. Every LE I have seen on missing children cases have said the same thing when the case is still young.

Local LE is not as sure as the FBI is that they are alive.

Can anybody find that MSM link where Aunt Tammy I believe it was, was talking about how things transpired when they were at the lake with the search dogs? about the family lining up, etc?? I'd love for Sarx to read it.
TIA i have so many windows open, maybe someone can be quicker than I

Haven't pulled up the map yet. How far is it to the area you're referring to where a car could have pulled up?

As I recall, less than 50 yards from the area where the bikes were found.

It's through a patch of woods with heavy underbrush but not impossible to get through. Not underbrush like they have in Florida that is almost a solid wall. I wouldn't go in there just for fun because I have a thing about ticks but kids or a motivated predator? Easy as can be.

If you can find it, read the article called A Plague on the Heartland that was in Rolling Stone Magazine in 2003. The effect of meth on people will BLOW YOUR MIND. I knew it was a bad drug, but I had no idea just how bad it is and how it ruins people before I read that fantastic article. People who do meth become instantly addicted to it. Their entire brain chemistry changes the very first time they do it. They will do ANYTHING to get more. That includes the very worst possible things the darkest parts of your brain can imagine. They would chop up their own children and sell their organs for money. Drug dealers are usually users. They don't care about their OWN children let alone anyone else's. They would have kidnapped and murdered Lyric in a heartbeat to get back at Dan. And unfortunately, my guess is that poor Elizabeth was just an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Deep, deep doo-doo is right! But since he changed his mind on the guilty plea the day BEFORE the girls went missing, there was no plea deal. I would think the accomplices shouldn't feel as threatened (unless they didn't get the memo). I do find it extremely hard to believe that all of this is not related in some twisted way.

  • #576
I cannot see the FBI saying they believe the girls are alive if they didn't have something to base that on. Perhaps someone knew something and told. Maybe they received a call or text from one of the girls. Surely they wouldn't say that unless they had something to base that statement on. So, I do tend to think this is an abduction by someone familiar that won't pose any harm to them. I hope this is the case and they are found soon.

Bashing and sleuthing the family is off limits everyone, it has been said over and over. They have not been named POI's or Suspects.

Thank you!

oh boy.........that is all I can say:maddening:
There is a kitty, who are the people in front row that keep looking back?
A boy near a box of chips?
Is this at a fund raiser?
Where is this? by the lake?
Every one is composed?
Are we at WS the only people upset that 2 little girls are missing???

It was recorded by the lake after they started draining it.

It is not the Iowa way to make a big outward fuss. But if you want to see a couple who look so worn to the bone with worry, check out any pix or video of Drew and Heather Collins.

Of course, there were snarky remarks on WS about Heather being seen with makeup on.

All I can say is, it seems like in situations like this that no matter what the victim families do, they can't please everyone.

So they might as well please themselves.
