So we have:

11:30 Girls leave E's house
12:15 Girls seen on video
12:20 T.G. Sees abandoned bikes
2:00 Girls are late - Aunt, Gmom & brother start search - are told be neighbor (name?) he was watering lawn between 12-3 and saw girls. Verified local thinks this odd or unlikely.
2:45 H.C reports girls missing at local LE station
3:00 Lake is swarmed by police
3:57 Bikes found by LE (fireman?)

I need to go grab links to back all this up but I'll need to get my laptop. What else should be on here and I'll start looking for MSM conformation?

This is what I am referring to in comparison to what our friend Abben has stated. He has only stated 12:15 and when the bikes were found (which I'm still not 100% certain, due to reporting, if the 3:57 time is the actual time LE found the bikes...or if that was the time HE got there - the times are very close.) I just don't understand why, given the info that they HAVE released, LE won't put out a timeline.

If the 12:20 bike rider who swerved to miss the bikes should be considered in the "disappearance timeline" then say that! I think everyone is really just trying to understand at least a LITTLE about what LE is thinking. Are we trying to nail down a disappearance between 12:15 and 12:20???...or are we working with a 12:15-bikes found timeline? HUGE difference. I know ALL tips are welcome but I don't know why this "vagueness" on the approx times hasn't changed one bit...yet they claim they have evidence etc.

Also...on the point of the paddle boater? I have a feeling this person isn't going to come forward now...would you? I mean it's 10 days after the fact and you now are going to come forward and say you were there...even if you were? Let the questions begin...

As far as I know no one has been named POI, have they?

Can someone please tell me why we keep repeating that LE "swarmed" the lake at 3 PM? I can't find any reference to that in what I've read. Did it come from a presser? To me, it sounds much more logical that LE swarmed after the bikes were found, not before. (otherwise how did it take them an hour to find the bikes?)

If you can find it, read the article called A Plague on the Heartland that was in Rolling Stone Magazine in 2003. The effect of meth on people will BLOW YOUR MIND. I knew it was a bad drug, but I had no idea just how bad it is and how it ruins people before I read that fantastic article. People who do meth become instantly addicted to it. Their entire brain chemistry changes the very first time they do it. They will do ANYTHING to get more. That includes the very worst possible things the darkest parts of your brain can imagine. They would chop up their own children and sell their organs for money. Drug dealers are usually users. They don't care about their OWN children let alone anyone else's. They would have kidnapped and murdered Lyric in a heartbeat to get back at Dan. And unfortunately, my guess is that poor Elizabeth was just an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Agree that meth is a bad drug, but that article you read is just a little over the top.

That Daily Mail article was excellent and provided some great info.......after reading that I think the LE certainly think that Lyrics parent/s have something to do with the girls disappearance. I think it was Lyric who was the intended "victim" and Elizabeth was with her. I just dont know the motive.......it is either something to do with him going to court and asking for a jury trial (maybe trying to garner sympathy??) ie he has hidden the girls or Lyric being taken as a threat to him. They were also on the verge of getting divorced............do they get on??? if he knew he was about to go to jail could he have taken Lyric to spite Misty???

It is all too suspicious to me.

Agree 100%. This is where my mind has been all along. I don't think DM or MCM did it because they both have decent alibis. But someone associated with them did.

Does anyone know if Lyric's brother has the same father? I don't know his name, but is Dan his father?

No POI or Persons of Interest has been named and no suspects have been named by law enforcement.

I cannot see the FBI saying they believe the girls are alive if they didn't have something to base that on. Perhaps someone knew something and told. Maybe they received a call or text from one of the girls. Surely they wouldn't say that unless they had something to base that statement on. So, I do tend to think this is an abduction by someone familiar that won't pose any harm to them. I hope this is the case and they are found soon.

Logically they do have something to base it on. As of this date they have not uncovered any evidence proving the children are dead. They did not say 'we know they are alive.'

They also started out saying Sierra Lamar was alive too and we know how that turned out.

No LE announces that a child is dead when they cant prove it especially when the child or children have only been missing a little over a week. In time if this remains unsolved they may get to the point that they will state they believe the children have met with foul play but we are a long way away from that happening. The case is only 11 days old.

It just seems to be a feeling or belief by the FBI because the local LE is not as assured that the girls are alive.

Then, who can we discuss, slueth on here?

I think meth addicts will do anything to get meth-not so much to get back at someone. Usually, the need and urge to get meth overrules all other needs. JMO

oh boy.........that is all I can say:maddening:
There is a kitty, who are the people in front row that keep looking back?
A boy near a box of chips?
Is this at a fund raiser?
Where is this? by the lake?
Every one is composed?
Are we at WS the only people upset that 2 little girls are missing???

What's more, the first two days the girls were gone, over 1000 volunteers showed up to help search. Those were all people who had lives and no doubt many of them had other plans but they dropped those things to come help.

The weather was miserably hot and humid and there were people pushing their ways through corn fields. In case you've never been in a corn field, I can tell you from personal experience that it usually feels 10 degrees hotter in the corn rows and it's way more humid because corn plants actively throw off water vapour. There's spiders, including black widows. There's usually ticks galore. There are mosquitoes and they'll bite all day long in the shade of the corn plants.

If LE said tomorrow that they wanted another volunteer search and set it for Wednesday, even with so little notice, the chance of thunderstorms, the high temps and humidity, I'm betting they'd get more volunteers than they could handle. Just like the first two days, people would flock in from all over Iowa to help.

So no, let this Iowan assure you, Websleuths are not the only people who care. Iowans have donated their time, their money and will keep doing so.

Just call me "proud to be an Iowan."

what im still fuzzy about is how sure the family was that the girls would not have gone to that park, but yet they went there to search for them - what caused them to look at this park if the girls never went there -- what prompted them to look there?

Evansdale is small, there are not that many places to search. They looked other places first but quickly ran out of "other places" because there just aren't that many public places.

No they havent. No one has been named which means we (WS-posters) cant accuse any of the family members of being involved when we have no evidence to base it on. Especially when LE has not named any of them as POIs or suspects.

Dan is facing 5 counts that each carry a 45-year prison term. He is in deep, deep doo-doo. So if he pled guilty to get that reduced, and flipped on people, I can see them being mad enough to do harm to those closest to him.

This is the most thorough article I have seen on their criminal backgrounds. (Not accusing them of being involved! Just for the record!) --

I just noticed the date on this article is "July 24, 2012, Tuesday"? Today is Monday, the 23rd?

The situation, the location, dig out sex offenders or usual suspects of that ilk....find inconsistencies in the MSM that might be helpful to creating a timeline....hth.

  • #596
Then, who can we discuss, slueth on here?

We can discuss the case and the MSM articles we read and the pressers that LE has.

We keep hunting articles so am I allowed to make a post with all the available articles and a quick synopsis of each? I don't want to devote all that time to it if the fact that it would be so long is against the rules.
