“Elizabeth would never go on a bike ride down there by herself without an adult … And it’s 1.5 miles from our house. Her normal route is around like the block or you know up and down the block, that’s it.”

bbm

Elizabeth might not but she was with Lyric who might of and therefore Elizabeth went too. And then why even bother going there to look for them in the first place as a first place to start looking?

BBM Yet again I will state that I find it strange the family did not yell for the girls nor did they walk around the 'small lake' to look for them. If LE were notified at 3 then an hour went by before first responders found the bikes while the family sat in the parking lot. STRANGE. IMO

DO we know that the family members did not yell and continue to scan the lake area for the girls or continue asking passersby if they'd seen the girls? Curious how we know that the family sat in the parking lot doing nothing for an hour?

Is it because the very vocal (too vocal IMO) aunt Tammy has not specified in her many recountings of the afternooon that they continued to look for or call out to the girls?

The lake was not the first place they looked. Evansdale is a small town. They checked up and down neighboring streets, checked parks and other areas that may have been attractive to the girls and then headed towards the lake although they did not really think the girls would have gone that far. They were at the lake simply because they were running out of places to look.

EC mother says the girls haven't gone that far before. The grandma said ok to a bike ride but don't be gone long as she wanted to go soon.
BUT the neighborhood couple say that they know EC as she bikes by there alot and he saw both girls that day.

I wonder if other neighbors have seen EC near the lake/trail before this day too.

If they looked (walked the bike trail because that would be the logical place to look for someone riding a bike) why didn't they find the bikes? The bikes were found by a fireman at 4pm. According to Tammy they were at Myers Lake at 2:45. Does anyone here have a scenario to explain this?

Here’s the link to the KWWL story that includes Elizabeth’s voice message for her Dad:

Okay. This is the last straw for me. Can someone, anyone provide a reason, any plausible reason why the message was on his phone for 9 days before he listened to it? I'm sure police had their phones for a certain period, but seriously, I know that certain period at best was hours after he found out she was missing. Damn, I hope there hasn't been any knocks on the door that they haven't answered, or mysterious unopened letters they have received during this same time period. I am at a loss!!!!!

FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault said Monday that investigators want to interview a person who was paddleboating on the lake around the time the girls disappeared. She said that person, who has not voluntarily come forward, could help investigators learn what happened to the girls but was not considered a suspect.

A person, meaning a man, women, or child?

Children get up to mischief that their parents are unaware of. Kids are built to push the envelope.

My own thought is that Lyric and Elizabeth played together quite a bit. Mom's job was new but my theory is that all the cousins/kids are closeknit. Gramma seems stretched thin between helping heather and having Misty and Lyric move in and watching Lyric during the day while Misty works.

I think maybe the girls had been exploring beyond their allowed boundary for a while. Pushing the envelop, getting away with it. So my own theory is that the girls had a newfound familiarity (perhaps progressing through the summer) of areas beyond their boundaries (such as the bike trail, etc).

Looking at google earth, there is at least one home on the lake that has a pontoon type paddle boat sitting by their dock. It's located in the canal area.

I've been wondering where Lyric's cell phone could be now. We know she left it Gm's house. Does anyone think it's possible that it was sent as evidence to the lab? Maybe there was something on the cell phone that confirms they are alive. I guess it's possible there were texts that lead LE/FBI to believe the girls are alive.

When I was around 8, we used to bike all over the place near where we lived. We used to sneak through the woods onto a golf course that was forbidden. We would be gone for hours.

When I was around 12, we used to ride horses out in a big field, which had woods all along one side. On several occasions, we saw a flasher standing in the trees. We were riding, so we could gallop away, and we never told our parents.

My friend, a scientist in NYC, parked her car at 8:30 A.M., walked out of the parking lot and past a white van with the side door open. A guy jumped out and grabbed her and tried to drag her into the van. Luckily, she had her car keys still in her hand and continually gouged his arm with them until he lost his grip.

Just some experiences to relate.

His wife is ill, his daughter is missing and he has several other children in the home. His phone was probably ringing off the hook after the news broke with everything from well wishers to hang ups. Perhaps he just could not bear to deal with any of it. He and Heather have stayed completely silent (publicly) for the entire first week the girls were gone, as compared to Lyric's parents who were very present in the media during that period.

I suspect that he and Heather simply were not strong enough to handle the immediate glare and demands of dealing with the public, press and probable hundred calls. Then LE have their phones for a bit for forensic analysis.

I do find it odd, but not necessarily sinister or unbelievable.

So i wonder did LE knock on their door? Seems pretty simple.

This is not good news to me, she left her cellphone at granny's, well I for one am not buying this story now.

Like some other posters, I find the lack of gender specific pronoun used by LE to describe the paddle boat witness telling.

  • #937
I think a pontoon would be pretty large on that lake. I was thinking of a 2-seated paddle boat that people peddle to make it move. Its much smaller than a pontoon. Has LE been more specific about the exact boat type they are looking for?

Oh my...that is a very interesting read! Crazy train is right!!

I about fell on the floor when I read it. I cannot imagine kids surviving in an environment half as bad.

Oh my...that is a very interesting read! Crazy train is right!!

My reaction was a combination of "Oh, my mercy!' and "Well, duh," at the same time.

This case makes me deeply sad.

This really is so horrifying to me. Way back in around 1977 when I was pregnant, (just barely and not showing), I wore my hair down and it was down past my waist. While grocery shopping alone at a local Kroger store, this 20-something guy walked up to me and said something like, "I am a hairstylist for the local live theater and I have to be able to put the actresses' hair up between acts very quickly"...and then said "can you tell me how you put yours up and can you show me how you do it" Well, I was really caught off guard, but thinking at the time, he was legit, I just grabbed my hair and said, "I twist it up like this and just pop a pin or two in it". Then....he said "will you come out to the car and show me how you put it up". Then I came to my senses and said no way. It took me until I was almost finished shopping for it to sink in what had just occurred. I should have found an employee, had them call police, etc. For years I have wondered if this guy ever actually went on to harm or kidnap someone. I now know I handled it all wrong, but it was in 1977, I was so young, in love, and so happily expecting my first child and I WAS also so very shy.

Reminds me of an experience I had in the 7th grade, back in the Spring of 1975. Our teacher said he was going to give some after school instructions on the metric system for those of us not "getting it." We were permitted to go home to change out of our uniforms, and then return back to school at 4:00pm. As I was walking alone back to the school, about half way there, a Volkswagon Beatle slowly rolled down the one way street, inching up behind me. As the man (probably late 20's) pulled up next to me, he said "excuse me, do you know how to get to Rockaway Blvd?" My hinky meter immediately went up, as Rockaway Blvd was only a half of a block away from where I stood. I told him it was straight ahead at the next intersection. He then asked me if I could point to it on the map he had in front of him. Right then, chills went up my spine, and I knew I had to get out of there immediately. I quickly said, "no I'm late for something" and turned around to run in the opposite direction of the one way street, and continued to run the next 4 blocks to my school...while constantly looking over my shoulder to see if this car would be following me. There was not even a single person walking around for me to ask for help. When I arrived at the school, I was the only person to show up for the extra class, except for our dedicated teacher. I was a wreck inside because of what just happened to me, but for some reason I didn't tell him. I guess I felt somewhat embarrased, as I always considered myself to be independent and street wise...silly I know! I'm sure if I told my teacher, he would have made sure I made it home safely. Instead, I kept quiet and simply was extra alert to my surroundings on my walk back home. I don't even remember if I mentioned it to my parents. So, needless to say, my two young children are always in my sight. I never let them walk anywhere without me, and I don't care if it seems over protective. Children will always be innocent targets, and I pray Lyric and Elizabeth will be found.
