From some googling:

"Mrs. Collins said....“You just see two missing bikes and a purse thrown up over a chain-linked fence and you see nothing else, we just feel that they were taken.”

One report said:
The found purse side of the chain link fence is on the interstate side of the fence.

Another report said:
Collins’ purse and cell phone were found on the other side of a fence about 20 feet from where their bikes were located.

http://www.hlntv.com/article/2012/07/16/missing-iowa-cousins-vanish-while-riding-bikes

One girls purse with a cell phone she stored music on which was not activated was found near the area on the other side of the fence closer to the Interstate,

Where the girls bikes were found, it would be incredibly difficult to get them out of there without any people who frequent the lake or the trails or live on the lake and the trails. However ATV’s are allowed back there and there IS A LARGE section of fence that a car appeared to have driven through this winter still not repaired. Search and rescue dogs lost the scent of the girls at the bikes

It was reported three different ways:
1. other side of the fence to the highway
2. other side of the fence to the lake
3. 20 feet away

I highly doubt any doped up meth head would kidnap two little girls for any reason. What is a meth head going to do with two little girls for a couple of weeks ... feed them, give them a bed to sleep in, keep them from escaping? That makes no sense. What i mean is that meth probably has nothing to do with the reason two little girls were kidnapped.

Again, we cannot apply rational thought the the mind of a meth head. I can TOTALLY see someone whose brain is rotted from meth saying, "DM sold me out?! That's it, let's grab his kid."

They wouldn't feed and take care of her. They would kill her. Immediately. For revenge. They are crazy, angry and not capable of thinking logically!

I completely agree. Kidnapping children doesn't silence people, it should make them spill their guts and reveal every single detail they know about everyone they know until the chidlren are found.

But what if it wasn't to insure silence, what if it was just to retaliate?

I really am not leaning that way, but some of these posts really have me thinking about a different perp possibility than some peripheral acquaintance or a random stranger, either one sexually motivated, which is what I have thought since the beginning. :waitasec:

Really good question!!!!! I think grandma said one bike was a mountain bike. Since Lyric is almost 5' tall, could she ride an adult bike, or maybe one of the older Collins kids bikes?

I am not sure if it matters, but I haven't seen anyone ask that before.

This is why I asked...I haven't heard anyone say anything about whose bike she was riding. If it was Lyric's. I am curious to know when it was brought there and who transported it and in what vehicle they transported it in.

Has there been anymore videos of Misty or Aunt Tammy lately?

For all of you experienced posters with good memories - can you recall a case of a missing child in which LE/family did not release a clothing description? I'm stuck on that, but I'm thinking perhaps it's more common than I realize...

I am sure that Elizabeth at least was on her own bike, as it was her and her parents house they were at that day.

She was a very frequent bike rider so someone would surely have mentioned if she was not on her own bike, but then again, we only have the family to confirm this. Neighbours seeing kids biking around are very unlikely to notice the colour or brand, or even the size of the bikes the kids are on. I know I never did with the kids around here. Still don't. :dunno:

I'm with you on that thought Otto. It makes no sense to kidnap the girls to keep the Dad quiet. It seems to me that would make him talk even more! He'd have nothing to loose, they'd already taken his daughter!

You guys are missing the point. He isn't GOING to talk. He ALREADY talked. So they punished him. (if that is who is responsible)

In my mind it makes MORE sense that an opportunistic person took the girls. Now, this could include neighbors, strangers, and people in the circle of the parents- both sets of the parents.

Elizabeth's Dad owns a tree trimming service, it IS possible he had a worker that was perhaps fired, or just not working right now, someone the girls might have seen before, someone who the girls might willingly walk or drive away with.

Opportunistic predators are smart like raccoons are, they can size up a child within 1 sentence and know if the child (or children) will be compliant or not.

Is the timing of the trial interesting? Somewhat, but not enough for me to stop looking everywhere and at everyone.

I recall an interview where Tammy stated that Dan came down and road around in a 4 wheeler(ATV) like any "normal" father looking for his child. I would ask whose 4 wheeler? Was it Dylan's 4 wheeler? How did it get there? How did it get there so fast? Did anyone see a 4wheeler earlier in the day? Where was this 4 wheeler normally kept?

A lot of sexual crimes are committed by meth heads. Meth makes people horny, manic and twisted.

I certainly can't remember one with so few announcements, in regards to possible suspects, cars, witness sightings etc.

No sketches, no clothing descriptions, except for footwear.

No BOLOs for scary strangers to the locals. No reminders to watch your kids.

If she brought it over that day, then it would have been in gma's car. Does anyone know what kind of car she drives?

When Lyric was late 4 days earlier, was she biking or on foot? She was at gma's house in Waterloo, though, so if she WAS biking and she was also on her own bike on the 13th, WHEN did it get to the Collins'?

I am kind of thinking though, that when she was late 4 days earlier, they girls were not on bikes..........Maybe Lyric does not own her own bike?

It sure does seem to.

It seems to open up evil inside them.

So somebody gave the girls a ride on their ATV? Note that if you continue down the trail, it goes under the interstate towards the river and towards the other lake (Hanson lake).

They don't seem quite as chatty since that subpoena thingy...

That made me wonder at first if both girls had packed a knapsack with a few outfits, and so the families weren't quite sure what they were wearing and what they had just taken, therefore they couldn't relay that info to the public or LE.

But since IMO it isn't likely that they both ran away, I would guess maybe gma was just busy with all the kids and helping HC and honestly had no memory of what clothes the girls were dressed in.

When she was late 4 days earlier, she was on foot with her 11 yr old cousinn, TB's daughter.

I think the bike probably belonged to one of the boys, like the 12 yr old who was out looking for her.

I thought it was just a bike trail?

Is an ATV able to go on the track?
