Haha - we are all thinking the same thing about cash receipts and video!

If this store has video you can bet police are and have viewed it. Maybe there is someone on there known to the family? But no leads to accuse for an arrest, therefore looking at receipts to make a connection? JMO

Cash receipts?? I wonder what info could be gathered from cash receipts?:waitasec:

Does Casey's sell Sudafed, Drano, iodine, nail polish remover, lighter fluid, braker fluid, Anti-Freeze, etc. IYKWIM?

Casey's has recently bought many convenience stores in the area. The one nearest my house, on River Forest, was an All-Stop not long ago. The one in Elk Run, I believe was a 🤬🤬🤬&Go recently. All the All-Stops in town, along with other gas stations, were recently taken over by Casey's, and undergone changes. I'd bet they have some kind of surveillance, but I'm not sure, and each store might be different. I know the one in Elk Run was recently remodeled (son's pre-school is nearby).

My point is that they had a hiring blitz, and you could apply at ANY location with the understanding that you may not be working at that same location.

I would suspect the FBI is looking for a receipt for something they may have as evidence - perhaps the energy drink cans, or cigarettes, or something else they may have found by the lake - that they will then attempt to tie to video or something. Or perhaps they've found something in a house or car or one of these neighborhood surprise raids, and are trying to see when/where/if it was purchased near the lake.

This isn't anything helpful, but I have to say it. The more I read about this family and their problems, the less dysfunctional my own family seems. Even if some member/s of the family were involved, there's no way I believe they all were. I can't imagine how the innocent members of the family (which could be all of them) have to be struggling to keep it together when they keep getting hit with more trouble, and fewer and fewer promising leads.

I get what you are saying, but a family so entrenched in substance abuse as this one is, is generally just as entrenched in denial and codependency.

Has anyone else noticed that even though HC & MCM are sisters and both their daughters' and nieces' are missing there seems to be a lack of unity?

The cans may also have #'s that indicate they were bought at that store to link them as well.

It is killing me that I can't post my theory.

Think about it this way... what is the common thing among both "disappearances" - ? It was Lyric.

Suppose that, hypothetically, someone was planning to have someone kidnap Lyric, to frame someone else. This kidnapping had to be done before 7/13, because the person being framed would no longer be, um, available, after that time.

So the mastermind behind this plot tells his/her helper that it has to happen in the next 4 days. He/she says, do it while I am at work, but don't tell me when, so I can act surprised. So Lyric goes missing on/around 7/9. From Waterloo -- very close to the hypothetical helper's house. The mastermind thinks THIS IS IT and calls the police. But then Lyric comes strolling through the door, having somehow evaded the kidnapper. Darn! Now the mastermind/helper have to try again within 4 days.

The next time there is opportunity, Lyric happens to be with poor innocent Elizabeth. But time is running out, so the helper has to take them both. The mastermind is narcissistic enough to think nobody will every blame him/her, since there is someone else in the immediate family who is a MUCH bigger criminal.

Totally hypothetical. In my opinion only. Just trying to explain how the court date and the previous "missing" episode could be 100% NOT coincidental.

Yep, I've been saying this all along...only not as clear as your theory. No way, is the first "disappearance" not related to the second. The odds of them not be related in some matter is zilch. OMO

Wow. I've seen some really creative theories. I'm glad people are thinking outside of the box.

Here are two things that this case has in common with the Celis case: a girl played softball the night before she disappeared and a girl was an avid churchgoer. I'm sure police are interested in anyone who was at that softball game and anyone who went to Elizabeth's church.

There is a lot of chaos regarding family members of Lyric. But do not get tunnel vision. The reality is that the abduction may be related to Elizabeth. So be sure to look at both sides.

Lastly, there must be a nurse or doctor around here who can tell us about drug interactions and how someone could become seriously ill from taking multiple drugs at the same time. It happens. It's entirely possible that this uncle was prescribed something or was told by a friend or relative to take something to curb depression, anxiety, etc. And it's possible that the medication conflicted with another medication. And it's possible that two people took these same medications either to treat their conditions or to get a high.

I think it's really premature to read much into the hospital visit. But I'm sure police will follow up. As they should.

SERIOUSLY?! Bwahahahaha

Assuming the rumors about the "borrowed" paddleboat are true, maybe LE found some type of evidence in or near the paddleboat like drink cans, wrappers, or cigarette butts - and are looking to see if anyone purchased that item at Casey's on the 13th.

God forbid I am ever investigated for anything. I have all of those items in my home.

This poor family. A ten year old girl is being smeared and her family is being picked apart.

I had better take a break. I'm pretty angry. :(

Also...just now, within the last 5-10 mins, a co-worker messaged me on FB...he says that Wed about 1pm, while I was out of town, he was sittin in his house in W'loo, looked outside the window and saw cops everywhere, and suddenly they pounded on his door. They were swarming canvassing his neighborhood with respect to the missing girls. He says they weren't searching homes, just questioning anyone they saw, stopping cars, knocking on doors. They didn't enter his home, just asked where he worked, how often, and who else lived there. It was a bunch of cops in polos, mostly DCI, there were police vehicles roaming around, etc. They knocked on every door down his street. He lives between Randolph and Wellington on W 7th in W'loo, several miles from the lake. I have yet to be visited by any LE, and I live essentially across the street from the lake.

BBM: Big WTH, Olli? (not at you!)

Maybe you should call THAT in as a tip. It's just not good, any way you look at it. :maddening:

If they could pinpoint the time someone paid cash for those drinks, or something else that was found, then they could check surveillance video for that time.

Did I miss something? I only can recall a post where someone local posted a photo of 3 empty cans of energy drink that seemed out of place. Were those drinks officially linked to the disappearance by LE?

I wonder if they are checking receipts at other stores, or just at that Casey's. Isn't there a Fareway grocery store close to the Collins' house?

I'd be shocked if all receipts from all local stores haven't been checked, including Fareway, Dollar General, all three Casey's, the other gas station in town (River Forest and Lafayette), as well as the truck stops in Elk Run.

Personally, the more I read, the more I believe the girls were taken by someone they know, or someone local. To know and understand the lake and the wooded area and trail would almost require local knowledge. And people are creatures of habit, so maybe a pack of smokes and kind of beverage were purchased around noon on Fri, and they are checking to see if any other similar purchases have happened since that time with any regularity.

Remember, you can't get off the highway on River Forest right now, due to the construction. You can get on to go west, but can't get off traveling east. So to even get to that lake would require some knowledge of the area. It's not a simple route from the Elk Run exit back to that lake, and the other, easier entrance to Evansdale would be from the north, away from the highway, generally from Lafayette or Dubuque Rd coming in from Waterloo (altho Dubuque Rd could be used to get back to the highway). In any direction from that lake, you'd have to pass a Casey's to get outta town, unless you had local knowledge of the back/side streets.

I think we were just using them as an 'example' of what they would be looking for. They took some evidence with them from their searches, so hopefully they have some drink cans, ciggie butts, food wrappers' of their own to try and trace the source of.

I can see how it can be good. It is possible LE already know who the perp is, and are just watching/waiting for that person to give them probable cause for an arrest warrant. Why talk to Ollipop if they already know who did it?

Are you implying that a family member went to the Casey's closest to the lake but farthest from where they live, and not the one where Misty works, to buy ingredients to make meth, while their kids are missing, while they are being followed by press and police, and while Dan is prepping for a trial wherein he may be sentenced to prison for the rest of his life for making meth?

Also, in order to buy anything with ephedrine in it in Iowa, I believe you now have to show ID and sign your name. The stuff is kept under lock and key and its sale is monitored heavily. I'd have to believe, given the knowledge that this family has of the trade, that buying the ingredients at Casey's is not an option.

Cash receipts have a time stamp, date, and usually employee ID#
I manage a retail business. There would also be a record of all credit and debit card sales. There are ways to scam card sales. Just a thought. :moo:

BBM May have nothing to do with FBI receipt request, but there are ways of stealing when ringing out a sale. Hence the employee ID# so they can keep track.

Here's a recent example of a scam

According to CBS Miami, Florida mother Barbara Aqueveque is facing at least five felony charges after police detectives busted her for a label-swapping scheme that made her over $30,000 a month.

Target security cameras reportedly show Aqueveque hard at work, slipping the UPC labels off of cheaper items, such as $7 cutting boards, and slapping them on to much more expensive items, like a $100 LEGO set, before heading to the checkout.

:seeya:For anyone interested...

Product Identification Coding (PIC) offers a veritable universe of information, rich with potential leads for the investigator who doesn’t overlook the possibilities

"Pick up the nearest mass-produced item. It might be a soda can, a pack of cigarettes, or a CD.
Somewhere on that item is at least one set of alphanumeric codes. When it comes to items like beer and soda, which are sold in cases or six packs, the numbers on the can contain volumes of information and, with a little persistence, an investigator can find out when that can was made, packaged, shipped, and delivered, and to what store."

Can't forget to mention DNA!
