There was also a statement from LE that was worded strangely, about people coming forward, who reported that their paddle boat was borrowed without their knowledge, or something along those lines. Anyone know where that was stated?

There has been talk previously about a paddle boat. IIRC, hearsay. nothing concrete.

I live on a lake and there's a paddle boat at the beach. I used it a few times.

It was slow, clumsy, and awkward. It's the last thing I would use it I wanted to go unnoticed or be quick about anything.

I would also guess LE throws out a few red herrings to see what sticks.

:moo:

ETA: This is a very small lake. I think Ollipop posted pics of 2 paddle boats. It wouldn't be very hard for LE to check them out. just :moo:

Not sure I understand (nothing new there). Couldn't they have been in the wooded area when TG rode by and riding on the path again when the 2:30 runner(?) told Aunt T he saw them. I'm sure you're probably right--family should have seen them if they were still there by that time. What time did family reach the lake? (Brainstorming only, so please don't anyone throw anything at me.)

I would love to know more about the paddleboater LE is looking for.

Brainstorming is what we're all about!

Lyric and Elizabeth could have been in the wooded area when TG rode by. He didn't see/hear them, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.

And I suppose they could have been there when the man told Aunt Tammy he saw two girls, around 2:30.

I can't recall exactly when the family arrived at the lake, but I'm thinking it was close to 3:00.

We've discussed the paddleboater quite a bit, and it seems some think the paddleboater was involved in abducting the girls, some think he might have been a witness, and other like me have totally no idea. It will be interesting to see how that plays out, IMO.

Or they could have been held against their will in the boat house for awhile.

I just think they would have gotten the girls away from there as fast as possible for a couple of reasons. One, the bikes were left in the pathway. So they had to expect people to come looking for them. And they knew dogs would be following their scent trail, so the best thing would be to wrap them up and put them in a vehicle as soon as possible.

I have been looking and looking and cannot find the video I saw last night that shows the paddleboat in the background!

It is an Anderson Cooper interview with both Misty and Dan. I think. It could have also been a local news interview with them. But it is definitely both of them and Dan is wearing an orange shirt. In the background, there is a green paddle boat.

Can anyone else find it?

He has an orange shirt on here. Lake Drained in Search for Missing Iowa Girls - YouTube but i see no paddleboat

I don't think the girls were taken by someone into a paddle boat. But I do think they might have been lured away by the 'promise' of a ride in the boat.

They might have been down at the shore and talking to a guy in a boat. Maybe someone they were familiar with already. And he says they can borrow the boat but they need to meet him at the dock area...

The girls would never make it anywhere near the boat.

Here's a link to it:

There may be a better, downloadable version on one of the FB sites.

ETA: Great idea, by the way.

YES! Thank you! That is the version I am looking for - I found the one with just the 2 photos of the girls (rather than 4) on one of the FB pages. So - thank you. Now, does anyone know where THIS version of the flyer can be found for download? Thanks again!

Question
has a description of the bikes or size of the bikes the girls were riding ever been given out??

The only tidbit of info given was that Lyric was riding a 'mountain bike.'

I recall seeing that one was a 20" bike and one was a mountain bike, maybe 26". I don't think I've seen that in MSM, or heard it from LE, it was probably on one of the FB pages.

I'm not sure about the color of either bike.

I think LE doesn't want the info released, IMO. Maybe so they can tell if a possible witness saw the right two girls???

I've left a message on one of the FB pages asking where we can find a downloadable version. I'll let you know if I hear back.

IMO, you'd think that would be readily available.

I know Tammy wasn't in the video that was shown on TV, just Misty and Grandma. But like you said, she might have been in the raw footage.

However, LE specifically stated they wanted raw footage of the interview of Misty and Grandma taken on July 20. No mention was made of Tammy in the subpoena, so I think whatever LE was looking for did not include Tammy IMO.

In case you haven't seen it, here is a link to the video:

All I can say to LE about the subpoena is, good luck with that.

Most TV news stations destroy their raw footage as soon as the story has been put together. They don't want to be put into the position of being an unofficial arm of LE.

I imagine that raw footage was gone by 21 July.

I wonder how many people saw this paddleboat? The person should have come forward by now.

Yes, you're right. I believe the day after the subpoena was reported by MSM, the news station reported that they do not keep raw footage.

I was very surprised to learn that raw footage isn't kept, but it does make sense.

With LE wanting raw footage and other things. Do you think LE is getting evidence ready to make an arrest without the (sorry to put it this way) the girls bodies?

I keep remembering cases where the victim was found very close to home.

Jacksonville's Maddie Clifton found deceased several days after disapearing. She was found in a teenager boy's bedroom across the street from her home.

Jessica Lunsford from Homosassa, Fl who was captive for days in a trailer, very near her home, before being buried there.

There was also a girl (close to Gainesville, Fl), whose name I don't remember and won't look for, because she was found alive after several weeks. She was held in a man's backyard shed within a few miles of her home. His family lived in the home and never suspected.

That interview happened last Sunday, on the 22nd. And was on Fox news, not KWWL.

I spent some time going back and watching YouTube videos of the early interviews last night though and saw some interesting things I didn't notice at first. (Like a green paddle boat in the background while DM and MCM are being interviewed!) It is also interesting to watch everyone's demeanor again in the immediate aftermath of the abduction.

Still catching up - but wanted to ask this before I forget. Do you know the date of the video with DM and MCM with a green paddle boat in the background? Do you have a link handy? - I would love to see that. Tia!

Either that or possible witness.

At first I thought it was a possible witness. But he has not come forward yet, so that is hinky.

And then that FB rumor that a resident said their paddle boat was used w/out permission.

Those things make me think it was someone who used the promise of a ride on the boat as a lure to get the girls into a vulnerable position.
