Details of Disappearance
Brown was last seen in Waterloo, Iowa on March 11, 1998. He has never been heard from again. His mother reported his disappearance; she has not heard from him since 1997.

The Social Security Administration reported that Brown has received no work earnings since 1998, but he evidently renewed his Iowa state driver's license in 2001. His mother confirms that the drivers license photo is Gary but states she has had no contact with him.
According to Social Security , Gary has had no earnings since 1998. His case will remain active as his whereabouts and welfare cannot be accounted for.

How strange! He renewed his driver's license in June 2001, a little over 3 years after he was reported missing. Mom verified that the photo on the license is her son, but apparently that was recently, so she would not have actually been aware of this in 2001. That's unfortunate, if Gary had listed his new address for the drivers license renewal, LE could have tried to locate him that way. I'm sure they tried recently when they discovered the renewal but it must have been a dead end seeing as he's still missing.

I wonder why he wasn't keeping in contact with his mother? And I wonder how he was supporting himself if he was no longer reporting earnings since 1998, though I guess he could have been doing some kind of work under the table and just not reporting any income. It's a mystery, I wonder what happened to him, or is he still alive?
