Jay Wynkoop, 38, was last seen in Ariat blue jeans, black Carhartt hoodie, brown leather work boots with steel toes and a black Adidas hat. He has a tattoo across his left shoulder that says "Scottie Kay." He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds.

He left home Sunday at about 1 p.m., leaving behind his cellphone and wallet.

His car was found at a truck stop, his wife said, adding it would be normal for him to go with someone asking for help.

A 38 year old father of 11 who abandoned his phone, identification and vehicle? Hmmm. Did he decide that wasn't the life that he wanted?

'We are not a family without him': Webster City father of 11 goes missing in broad daylight

The only trace of him was his Chrysler 200 parked at a truck stop, Doc's Stop, in Webster City, with video surveillance showing him pulling into the parking lot just before 1 p.m., but that's it — there is no surveillance video footage, from Doc's Stop and nearby businesses, of Jay entering or leaving the store.
We pinpointed the time that he entered the parking lot, but at no time could we see him get out of the vehicle; the vehicle didn’t leave," she said. "No cars visibly pulled up next to him where he could get in; there was a few instances where it was blocked by a semi or a camper, so the view of the camera couldn’t see his location.

'We are not a family without him': Webster City father of 11 goes missing in broad daylight

According to this article and various others, “father of 11” is NOT an error.

Oct. 20 started off as a normal, hectic Sunday for a north-central Iowa family of 13.
He's a family man to his core, his wife Danielle, 37, told the Des Moines Register on Tuesday.
In Jay and Danielle Wynkoop's Webster City home, there's always something that needs to be done in and out of the house, considering they have 11 children between the ages of 5 and 19 to take care of.
"The family he has built is his world."

*IMO, he seems to have a great home life with family that loves him.

“One of the reasons why we work so well is because we have both been through so much in our lives and we’ve dealt with so much and we’ve worked so hard to build our family."

“We love him endlessly, and I’d move the heavens and the earth for him. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for that man," she cried. "He is my heart. He is so loved and so deeply missed. We are not a family without him."

What the hell? Truck stop. No wallet. No phone. Had to be meeting someone? Strange. Broad daylight too.

I'm not fully understanding the wife's comment about how it would be normal for him to go with someone asking for help.

If it was a friend or family member or someone known to him, wouldn't it be easily know if he went to help someone and who it was?

Did she mean strangers? He was at the truck stop without his wallet or cell and someone asked him for help and he obliged, leaving with them? Why the trip to the truck stop? Why no wallet?

No need to register, but wow. Not sure I have that much time?

why would he leave behind his cellphone & wallet? I can only think that he knew he wouldn't need them if he was going to kill himself
I hope I'm wrong

I can think of reasons to go out without cellphone or wallet. Phones that ping from home make it appear that you aren’t somewhere else. If you think you might be in danger of being robbed, you can leave the wallet at home and only bring you the amount of cash you intend to spend.

A truck stop is a likely place to meet someone who is selling something, which could be anything. Maybe he was double-crossed by someone who drove up and said “ I have the Star Wars costumes in the camper, get in and pick the one you want.”

Or, maybe someone else left the car in the parking lot and he was never there that day.

Does anyone have links for the court records being referenced. I tried one site and you had to pay. Tried vinelink next but no such luck there/nothing pulled up.
