LE has not made the outcome clear but several family FB sites have.

I think it’s ok to point to social media, but not discuss the posts, correct? I think there’s been mistakes in reporting. His wife’s Facebook was recently updated.

Both his wife's FB page and his sister's FB page clearly say he has passed on.

Competent news coverage has officially died. CNC has been struggling for some time, but succumbed to incompetence, lack of advertising dollars, politics, and a disinterest in truth and accuracy.

Rest in Peace, Jay.

The press release was poorly worded imo leading news outlets to believe he was found safe and now they’re running with it. It’s 100% been confirmed that he was found deceased.
Other news outlets stayed with "located" or "found". It has happened before that "found" was understood as "found safe".

I called KCRG and admonished them for running that story. Correction should be coming soon.

Thank you. I also commented on the KCRG-TV FB page, and asked that they consider updating their info. It looks like they have now removed the FB post, although the news article was still there a moment ago...

Yeah MSM is getting super convoluted. It’s all about getting a story out first. Never mind details like accuracy, spelling, and grammar. Ugh

So sad for his 11 kids :(

I'm pretty sure his wife means that he'd go be a Good Samaritan for anyone including a stranger, which is what she suspects happened. What else could she mean? Plus, that would be an interpretation completely congruent with a 38-year-old father having 11 kids "ranging from 5-19" - that he has some children which are chosen, instead of biological. If you would adopt, foster, or marry into a huge group of offspring; you'd also be the kind of person who would go help a stranger out.

Which might not be such a good thing, if he was the kind of person who helped people out as a way to evade household responsibilities.

The story I saw said that the family wished that no further details about the circumstances of his death be released.

His poor family. I can't imagine being a widow & solely responsible for 11 children.

The wife of Jay Wynkoop has released a statement confirming his death. She says he "has went home to Jesus... I am not releasing any more information at this time. Thank you for allowing us to grieve this terrible loss. We ask that no go fund me or any other online fundraiser be made in his name, out of respect for Jay's wishes."

I found their Facebook pages. She took all the kids' pictures down when he went missing; his page has a picture of him at a fast food restaurant with 5 of the kids.

If the wedding date she posted is correct (2015 - it may not be), they may be a blended family, which certainly could include adopted kids.

They were a blended family. Two of his ex-wives posted on his sister's fb page (3 kids between them). Jay had six bio kids.
Prayers for his children and those who loved Jay.

This is a sad ending for the man and his family. Seems like he had lots going on. I hope he has found peace and his children are well supported emotionally as this has to be very difficult.
