IA IA - Jesse Leopold, 23, Jewell, 13 Oct 2016

Bumping for Jesse missing four years today. Very sad but dad seems to know he isnt alive any longer. Need just one person to open mouth and say what happened-i think it will come out. People trying to manage mental health conditions (and with developing substance problems) are so vulnerable to becoming victims.

I'm passionate about this one. This whole thing is so unfair for Jesse and his dad. They had eachother and truly had a special bond from everything I've read. Jerry is one strong guy.
The rumor mill is just insane. But Jerry moving Jesse’s truck when he found it probably wasn’t the best idea.
Dad had no choice but to take Jesse's truck and flag down a police officer. He was dropped off at the park and his phone had no signal. He was thinking like a panicked father and not like a cop which is totally valid.

New post from Boone County PD - people in comments are furious and rightfully so. First ever post about Jesse by Boone County PD and he went missing so long ago. Second, they're clearly putting off responsibility to Hamilton County ETC and suggesting they've done so much already to try to find him, that's just not true folks. His dad has been putting in the man hours since 2016 to find his boy. Even when he's devastated, heartbroken, and falling apart, he has had to be the private detective for his son's case. Jerry Leopold says the cops didn't take Jesse's disappearance seriously for over 6 weeks. Third, an important election is coming up & they have a new sheriff apparently. Hmmm. Definitely seems the right time to make a post that barely attempts to act like the PD cares... my opinion of course. Fourth, I'm really bad at math so copying from someone in the comments: 2000 man hours since 2016 averages 1.6 hrs per day. Fifth, they don't provide a contact number or an investigator regarding if someone has any tips in the case they'd like to report.

Boone County Sheriff Andy Godzicki said the department in the past has focused too extensively on extreme theories, which are "shrouded in murder and bad things happening." The challenge with these stories, he said, is there are no firsthand accounts. Additionally, nothing fits into what is known about the day Jesse Leopold went missing.

Godzicki believes the important answers are at Ledges Park. Though some initial searches were done after Leopold's initial disappearance, he feels authorities failed to document their process properly.

….

Jesse Leopold was last seen on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016.
He was last spotted at W & G Marketing.
His co-workers and a supervisor told the sheriff's office that Jessee left without telling anyone. He didn't even change out of the required uniform rubber boots.
No one at the plant knew Jesse Leopold was gone until the evening break.
His vehicle was spotted by a park ranger at Ledges Park the day after he was last seen. Jerry Leopold retrieved his son's car on Oct. 16, noticing how the key in the ignition while Jesse's work boots and smock were also inside.

About 70 volunteers showed up to look for Jesse Leopold on Saturday morning at Ledges State Park.

Leopold is from Jewell, but the search area is at Ledges because his car was last spotted there. Volunteers hiked through 23 acres of the park on Saturday.

"We're looking for skeletal remains. We're looking for articles of clothing. We're looking for a wallet, keys, belt, shoes, anything that we can find that fits that description," Andrew Godzicki, Boone County Sheriff, said.
