IA IA - Jodi Huisentruit, 27, Anchorwoman, Mason City, 27 June 1995 #2

I’m incredibly interested by this new development, and the possibility that Jodi was seeing someone new in the weeks before her abduction. All of the old media outlets and Beth Bednar’s book fail to mention this— in fact, if anything, they refute the idea that Jodi was dating anyone seriously around that time. If this is true, then it would lend credence to the idea of JV being a suspect because of jealousy. My problem is this: if most people didn’t know Jodi wasn’t dating a new man, or at least it wasn’t common knowledge, how would Vansice know? Jodi was well aware of how he felt about her, and I have a difficult time believing that she would tell him that information. Also, the new information, and the time she supposedly spent with this man sounds identical to her time spent with Vansice. They attended the golf tournament, they watched videos together at his house, etc.; so we should focus, theoretically, between when she left his house and the time when she was abducted in the early morning. There was a neighbor who reported hearing a man pounding at her door in the early morning hours— but she seemingly left her apartment as she did normally, albeit a bit late. If the suspect was in her bedroom already, how could he be the man in the van? Did JV feel some kind of need to follow her later and see this man? Why was the unknown male upset, if you believe the witness? I have so many questions.
I've been working on this hard the last few months (Thanks adhd hyperfocus) and I believe there was a man more infatuated with Jodi than John from people I've talked to in Clear Lake. The owner of Sullys bar, either Eryn or Marty Sullivan (they were twins and also ironically sons of Buddy Hollys original guitarist Nick, one of them is the love fling interest, i am fairly certain, I can't get people to officially tell me which one specifically because they mix them up being twins, the one I guessed was Eryn).
The P.I. Steve Ridge (I've talked to him a few times) thinks it was just a 10 day fling but according to witnesses it seemed longer than that and he had a house here in Clear Lake she would go to (it's been torn down in like 2020) and he wasn't just visiting from out of state like he claimed to Steve, also after Jodi disappeared it was said he got briefly questioned and they closed their bar within 2 months and darted to Missouri where they are today. The specific twin with the fling was asked if he would take a polygraph recently and he apparently said no, his attorney advised against it... He does not want to be tied into drama and asked to remain anonymous, but asking local bar patrons of their bar basically gave away who he was for me. It's highly suspicious. He has laid low for 30 years and there's not much online or any public appearances aside from funerals.
I may dump some of my other findings in hope of finding more info or fueling more for someone else. I was told by MCPD the day they left for Winsted MN and I almost wanted to tell them unless it was linked to certain people or a certain drug ring that it was pointless. The other one to slide under the radar is Ladonna Woodford, she isn't telling the truth on John's alibi obviously and she off record allegedly said she destroyed some evidence that would have solved all this supposedly. She may have hinted about water and Jodi's body being sunk somewhere around the area by something heavy. She's scared for her life and has ran scared since, along with the lying to a Grand Jury is a major punishment to fear too. I also guess the jump to $100k reward was to entice her to talk as shes in financial troubles and she is so scared about something that she wouldn't budge for that much. Now why is Ladonna so scared? Why does she fight for John's innocence as not killing her? Why did they Sullivan bros close up and run in fear? Why are most witnesses that know things too scared to talk... The tie in for alot is the Gomez drug ring, Arizona, Southern California, the cartel, outlaw bikers, etc. The Sullys bar had strong ties to the drug ring through the twins, Jodi was investigating the drug ring hard, many bars and party scenes were connected to the rings. I found a few informants claiming many people were contracted hits and killed/covered up by certain corrupt cops that were mostly trying to hide their involvement in helping distribute and rerock delivered drugs (I got a few names i wont mention here). I have 1 guy that told me he tried to compete with that drug ring manufacturing his own meth locally and after being told to stop by them and continuing to do it, they hired a outlaw biker gang to kidnap him in Clear Lake, bring him to Arizona and force him to watch a snitch get beaten to death and he had to work for nearly 1 year traffiking drugs in Arizona till they let him go in a random desert town, if i mention the drug leaders name he gets a ptsd and nearly tears up. John and Ladonna ironically after the Jodi disappearance ended up in...Arizona in ironically the same place, probably helping with drugs as punishment...Jodi talked of the harassing "prank" phone calls, it was supposedly people tormenting her for knowing what she knew and continuing to find more info.
The leader of the drug ring was also known to put out contract hits for as much as $10k-20k and either people from the area or outlaw bikers would come do the job and he would force loved ones that know about the drug operation or that helped give a snitch info, to be involved with either the kidnapping, beatings, or death/body cover ups. There are many in the area that were killed and written off as unsolved murders, unlikely suicides, or drug overdoses...people were tormented to stay silent, if they knew about those deaths too: Billy Pruin, Gerald Best, Donald Milks, Kevin Kloberdanz, and possibly more.
Walter Bond an activist extremist who burned the Gomez dealers house down out of hate for drugs, survived a hit on his life for it where they tried to kill him in when he went to prison for multiple arsons and his hit was $20k plus drugs of choice to get it done. He had to be moved alot for protection.
The fear put into people in this area is pretty crazy, I've had people go into hiding after messaging me and delete all social media for simple info, or someone talking through a 2nd party on the phone with them to stay very anonymous.
I found 2 guys linked to the drug ring with white Ford vans at the time, even have their old license plate numbers. I have a picture of a ford van parked by John's house from an interview he did that may be the van, but a car that was driving super fast with the lights off I found a 2nd witness that claims they called 911 to report the car driving like a racecar driver. (I can't tell yet if John was involved with the ring somehow, or maybe the guy to give Jodi the info which forced him to be involved in some aspect for leaking it to her.
I have an area where an informant said she was either 1st put or may currently be, just north of the Key Apartments on the edge of town, I am trying to get Iowa k9 cadaver unit out and MCPD said yes to my face, but won't return calls to them as they legally have to hear a yes direct from them. I have alot more people wanting to talk and meet. It's very hard to decipher info from some of the wacko people, former drug burnouts giving ironic false ties and the distorted info that plagues this case. I will post more as I find more info. I have some former Minnesota outlaw bikers wanting to slide potential helpful info, but I take alot with a grain of salt lately after spending 2 weeks on a wild goose chase.. People tell me I can die for sharing this info, but honestly alot of people involved back then that were scary/intimidating are retired grandparents that are retired from that life.

Private Investigator Steve Ridge spoke to KWWL News and confirmed that John Vansice passed away sometime earlier this month. Today was the first time I’m hearing of this so I wanted to share the news story. Jodi’s case has always weighed heavy on my mind & in my heart….especially since she’s now been missing longer than she was alive on this earth. May 2025 hopefully bring some more answers to all her family, friends, and loved ones.

P.I. Steve Ridge says that Vansice had an aggressive form of Alzheimer's.

Vansice was considered a possible suspect by police, but told Ridge that he had no involvement in Huisentruit's disappearance.

My first thought is, they had GPS in cars back in 1995?
My second thought is, confirm the Vansice or whatever guy is dead first since that is a concern. If he’s dead, I think after 30 years it’s time to open the file up. If he’s not dead, and I feel sure he is, then we need to know why folks are claiming him dead.

This article says the vehicles were manufactured after 1995. The specific information the private investigator wants unsealed is from the 2017 search warrant, so while it concerns Vansice, who was a suspect for 30 years, it's not 30 year old information. I suppose maybe by seeking GPS data from his subsequent vehicles, that maybe they wanted to see if he ever visited a location where maybe Jody might be buried or something. I'd have to look up again when he moved out of state. Without reading more about it again, that's a guess of mine.

Anyway they didn't find any useful info so I don't really know why unsealing it would be an issue, except if it's feared that it create a precedent to release more info. If the private investigator, Steve Ridge, says Vansice is dead, I'm sure he is, and he and his attorneys from the above article can prove it.

Yes, John passed in 2024.

Yes, John passed in 2024.

Thanks.
I was referencing the earlier article that said this:

“In response to the motion, County Attorney Carlyle Dalen, who says he’s “never seen a death certificate” for Vansice, told FindJodi, “As far as we’re concerned, the investigation is continuing whether he’s passed or not.” Dalen said the motion “makes no sense and could seriously hinder the investigation.” He added, “I don’t feel in my soul a judge will open it up.””

The county attorney seemed to be questioning whether the guy was dead or not.

I'm honestly not sure whether they should unseal that. I also am not sure whether Vansice did it or not. If he didn't, it sure is sad his family felt they couldn't even publish an obituary, apparently.

“The County Attorney has provided massive insight confirming my theory about the case in his court brief objecting to the unsealing of documents,” Ridge said. “I fully respect his argument and concern,” Ridge responded.

Ridge went on to add he is not trying to jeopardize any potential prosecution, and his goal is to find the truth.

“It now appears that persons other than John Vansice have reason to fear indictment, as I have publicly theorized,” Ridge said.

The way this is worded makes me believe that the PI doesn’t believe that Vansice is much of a suspect but wants the information held in that search warrant in order to possibly infer what LE is looking for, what compelled the search, and maybe pick a few breadcrumbs of information from wherever he can to help focus his case.

I’ve stated this before, but I personally don’t think Vansice is the murderer. Was he a bit of a creep? Sure. Did he have a fascination or attraction to Jodi, be it healthy or not? Sure. Is he the person who abducted and hid her body for decades without ever cracking, telling anyone else, or leaving any kind of prosecutable evidence? I don’t think so. I think he’s a big, fat red herring in this case.

I don’t mean to go on a rant here, but…even if one believes that Vansice is guilty, due diligence means an expansive and exhaustive dive into a multitude of individuals or possibilities, many of which are difficult to investigate. Jodi wasn’t a “normal girl” in that she was on local television, and thousands of people saw her on the news or were familiar with her, much more so than the average person. That opens a huge well of unseen and unknown individuals who could have seen her, fixated on her, and pursued her— and that’s only counting the viewers. You still have to factor in local suspects or, however rare, a stranger who targeted her without knowing she was on television. The suspect pool is vast. We don’t know if someone close to her is responsible, or if someone that saw her on a news station and fixated on her killed her, or if there was someone who was violent and targeting women in her area that abducted her, or if someone, unknown to both law enforcement and us, killed her.

It frustrates the case. That doesn’t mean it’s unsolvable. As long as people care, regardless of our connection to the case, I believe we can find Jodi and bring her killer to justice. For every singular evil human being on this planet, there are a dozen more dedicated to bringing darkness to light, and fighting for victims.

Even if the warrant stays sealed, Ridge said this still gives him information surrounding his theory of what happened to Huisentruit.

“I think I know who they have in mind, that might be able to come forward and corroborate information. I think I know who they believe might have reason to either hide something or to produce it. That is stunning new information in this case,” Ridge shared.

In the meantime, Ridge announced Monday he is raising the reward to $100,00 until June 27 for any information leading to Huisentruit’s remains.

The judge is going to review the search warrant and will have an answer on whether or not the search warrant will be unsealed within 30 days.

Attorneys are fighting to unseal evidence related to a person of interest in the Jodi Huisentruit case.
And in this Wisconsin newscast they suspect Chris Revak, a suspect in the Deidre Harm murder in Wisconsin Rapids, may have killed Huisentruit because his wife lived in Mason City, IA when Jody disappeared. Near the end it mentions that Revak's ex-wife stated she helped hide one of the bodies of either Rene Williams or Deidre Harm.
