Found Deceased IA - Larry Freeborn Sr., 79, may be confused, driving, seen in Melcher-Dallas, poss heading to Carlisle, 12 Aug 2023

MISSING ELDERLY PERSON

79-yr-old Larry Dean Freeborn, Sr. was reported missing from his east side home at approximately 11:00 pm. last night.

Detectives have learned that he was contacted in Maxwell, IA at approximately 5pm yesterday, but he has not returned home or had any contact with friends or family since then.

Larry has medical issues that bring on extended bouts of confusion and he may not be able to find his way home.

Larry does not have a cell phone.

Larry is driving a green 2007 Ford Focus, IA license plate LHR 645.

If you see, or believe that you have seen Larry, please call 911!




Additional information received that Larry was seen in Melcher-Dallas and was believed to be headed to Carlisle.



Melcher-Dallas to Carlisle is about 30 miles.

Police say on Aug. 12, Larry Freeborn Sr., 79, called home using someone else's phone from Maxwell. He was given directions back to Des Moines. Freeborn was seen at the Casey's in Monroe about an hour later.

His last known location was a Casey's in Melcher-Dallas that same night.

His brother, 64-year-old MF, said he's added 2,000 miles to his car since Larry went missing. A family friend even took a crop duster out and searched for four hours with no luck.

"I get up early and take off, start driving and start looking because he's gotta sleep somewhere," MF said. "I've checked motels, I've checked truck stops and I can't spot that car."

MF said Larry has Alzheimer's disease and lives with his son. He takes a plethora of daily medications for his health. Having run out, it's crucial that he's found soon, his brother said.

"Larry has medical issues that bring on extended bouts of confusion and he may not be able to find his way home," Des Moines police said on Twitter.

MF is going back to Melcher-Dallas on Monday with his wife to check two roads he has yet to search.

Larry has been found deceased :(

DES MOINES, IOWA — The body of a Des Moines man who was reported missing last month was found on Wednesday in his vehicle in a creek in Marion County. Larry Freeborn, 79, reportedly had medical issues and became lost before disappearing.
