A 48-year-old Illinois man was last seen around 10 p.m. on June 1 near his camper along the Shell Rock River.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office, a report came in on June 8 that Lawrence (Larry) Howlett had gone missing from Camp at the Woods, which is located on the 22000 block of Fallspark Drive, northwest of Rock Falls, IA.

Howlett is from Sandwich, IL and was last seen wearing blue jean shorts, a gray tank top, white socks and newer khaki boots. He's described as a white male, 5'5" tall, with green eyes and gray-brown hair. He has a batman, superman, and the name "Baileigh" tatooed on his left arm and the name "Shantal" tatooed on his right arm.

Anyone with information should contact the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office at 641-421-3000.

Great finds! His FB page has a post about missing someone on the day before he was last seen. He didn't have a public friends list, so I don't know who he was talking about.

If you take a closer look at that post, you'll see he added "PMD!" to that post.
If you were to search for "likes" on that post, you will find the same initials.

Oh wow....I was JUST looking for an update on this case yesterday but was unable to find new articles or updates to older articles to confirm if he was still missing or had been found; so I did some of my own sleuthing on FB and came to the conclusion that he WAS indeed still missing. That must have been just before he was found. Sad. Prayers to his family, I know they've been worried about him.

Thanks Darling! The link doesn't open for me, does it say what happened to him?

RIP Larry.
From the long article that @Darling136 found (Body of missing man found in Cerro Gordo County):

. . .The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says human remains were found around 6:12 p.m. Friday in a pond at the campground. They have been identified as Howlett with the help of family and by property found with the remains. . .
. . .Deputy Sheriff Tami Cavett assisted in part of the search. While law enforcement agencies concentrated most of their search on the river near his camper, where he was last seen, they did look over the pond where he would later be found, but were not able to find any sign of Howlett. . .

The article is definitely worth reading, as it goes into detail why certain areas were searched more than other areas, and what they used in the searches. They have to wait for the coronor's final findings to be released for more info.

Taking quotes from the above article,

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says human remains were found around 6:12 p.m. Friday in a pond at the campground. They have been identified as Howlett with the help of family and by property found with the remains.

While law enforcement agencies concentrated most of their search on the river near his camper, where he was last seen, they did look over the pond where he would later be found, but were not able to find any sign of Howlett.

"That area had been searched with cadaver dogs, we had drones that had gone over. It was a thick, wooded area, and we did not think he would be down in that area. There was no reason or indication that he knew that area. Therefore, that area wasn't as searched as often as the river and the river banks had been."

Howlett’s body has been sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation into this death is continuing.

IMHO it's very strange Howlett was found where numerous people probably passed many times while searching for him, and a location that was 'looked over' without searching inside it. Why wasn't it wasn't searched immediately after Howlett was reported missing? Since the pond was at the campground, what was its purpose? Was it a pond stocked with fish? a decorative feature? Was the pond covered with algae? Was it deep or shallow?
